@GTV reviews the Cosmic Fantasy 1-2 Switch collection by Edia, provides examples of the poor English editing/localization work. It's much worse for CF1. Rated "D" for disappointment, finding that TurboGrafx CF2 is better & while CF1's the real draw, Edia screwed it up...

New unmoderated Fighting Street forum?

So how unmoderated will this forum be?  Can we call people derogatory names?  Can we insult their moms?  Can we make lots of racist slurs?  Sexist?  Can we threaten people with physical violence or murder?  Can we post porn?  Can we post videos of people and animals being murdered and raped?

All of these things are allowed and encouraged on Keranu's site!  :)

Just FYI, over at OverClocked ReMix we tried an UnModerated forum as we called it.  It got so chaotic and useless that it was eventually removed.

Spam is what makes the world go around.

I'm just going to make it easy and do what they do on the Neo-Geo.com forums - no posting of nude photos (that's it).  I figure people can bat it out there so that it doesn't get put into the regular sections of the site...we'll see how it goes.  It will also only be visible to logged in users.

Oh and I changed the search feature of the site to be available to registered users only.

What's the purpose of preventing non-users from using the search feature exactly?

Aww come on, that's low. I just hope the forums can remain viewable to guests.

Yes, the forum is viewable to guests.  I'll only cut that off if I have to.

This new forum is great!  So far I have been able to:

-Harass new and old members alike.
-Threaten members with physical violence.
-Call members names and make fun of their families.
-Spout every known racial epithet known to man and denounce people for not being white.
-Make fun of people's religions.

Soon I plan on posting pics of dead people, people in the process of being shot/killed/decapitated/mutilated/aborted and whatever.  I will post these randomly in each thread.  Don't worry, I won't post the porn!!!!  OMG!!!!

Ahh, this "no rules" is great, just what PCFX needs!

PCEngineFX

Are you being serious are sarcastic?  I can't tell.

As long as it stays in Fighting Street, everything is fine.

Serious on everything but sarcastic on the last art of the last sentence.

About the "Is Aaron Nanto gay?" thread in Fighting Street which is now deleted:

Joe, I can't believe you would post something like this.  I don't care if you were joking or not (I can't tell anymore) but even you can realize that publicly humiliating me doesn't give a good impression to anyone - and gives you even less respect in the eyes of site visitors as a mod.  Would you post something like this about your manager above the workplace watercooler for all of your coworkers to see?  No... same common sense applies here.

Please either PM me or post on this thread if you have any questions or comments.  If something isn't spelled out that I need to address, please let me know.

BTW, Nat's post about all of the forum members was fine as it wasn't a personal attack directly at me (in case you were wondering) and the feel was pretty obvious that he was making fun at everybody.

Personally I don't think that personal insults should be allowed here on ANY level.  The Fighting Street Forum is now hypocritical in that we can make fun of others but not you.  Nowhere does it say "No personal attacks".

QuoteNat's post about all of the forum members was fine as it wasn't a personal attack directly at me
So it's OK just as long as you don't get YOUR feelings hurt?  C'mon, either step up to the plate or set some more sensible guidelines.  You said NO MODERATING with the exception of porn and warez, so by those rules my posts and threads were A-OK.  You didn't say threads had to be in good taste.  I think the Fighting Street forum was an unnecessary and stupid idea, personally.  Things that are said in there could and should be able to be said on the main site (with the obvious exception of some of the threads that are in there just because there are no rules).  Stuff like the abortion issue or the God issue should be able to be fully discussed out in the open, cuss words and all (except in thread titles, of course).  Just no harsh personal insults.

My personal rules for other sites are generally pretty lax.  For example I allow members to call each other "dumbasses" and other things of that nature, but once it starts getting more personal and aggressive, posts can get axed and/or members can take a week/two week vacation.

A forum like Fighting Street would be disastrous if someone like Kitsunexus were to join.  He randomly posted pictures of dead and dying people in one thread and the images were horrific and gross.  I deleted the posts and then banned him I think.  But with the current rules, I can run around and post pictures of aborted fetuses or whatever in random threads for NO REASON and get away with it.  I thought about doing that, but that meant I would have to find the images and I didn't want to do that.

The bottom line is this: You need to make some rules, buddy.  I may be the biggest asshole of the Fighting Street forum now, but that doesn't hold a candle to what someone like Nintega or Kitsunexus would do.  You may say "They aren't here any more" but believe me, there are plenty more people similar in character out there.

I did what needed to be done.  It is hard enough to get your attention as it is.  You take weeks to respond to PMs.  This was the only way I could do it and have a hope of you understanding my point.

Keranu

I gotta say, Joe's got more balls than I thought -- I'm impressed, even though I don't think adding rules will help anything.

Well, I'm thinking just get rid of the source of the problems and close down both the Fighting Street & Chit-Chat forums all together and bring back the forum to its roots.  This will make mod duties much easier and clear cut on what posts need action and will get rid of the drama.  I'm going to make a poll to see what people think about this.

Why close down the chit-chat forum? That has always been pretty friendly and is one of the highest posting forums.

Well I was considering the change but wanted to get member reaction to it - and from the looks of it, keeping both forums looks to be what most people want.

So with this in mind, what suggestions do you have for the fighting street forum Joe?  If it the rules need to be more spelled out, I can do that, but things will still be open for debate.  For example, if I say "no posting of offensive/disturbing images", "offensive" and "disturbing" are subjective to each individual and I'm not about to spell out EVERY little thing you can't post.  Let me know what you think we should do here.

I'd outlaw the following things:

-Direct personal insults.  This brings our community down no matter what sub-forum it is in.  There should never be any need for this.

-Nudity/offensive images.  Use common sense. That doesn't mean it is bad to post pics of hot women or something that might not suit everyone's tastes, just use common sense.  Basically, if you think you might get in trouble or catch heat from mods/other members for posting it, don't post it!  We're fairly lenient I think.

Basically I think the Fighting Street forum should be used kind of as a debate forum.  Threads which "heat up" could be moved in there, granted that they aren't already established threads which are dozens of pages long (and therein lies the problem).  You wouldn't want to move a thread that has lived in the PC Engine area for years just because two people got into an argument on page 36.  So that right there kind of nullifies the need for the Fighting Street Forum.

Oh, and just so we are clear, I purposely took things and bent them way out of proportion for that one thread you deleted.  Don't worry, I think you are a cool guy and you know I love your videos.  :)

PCEngineFX

I totally agree with those two rules.  I'll post them on the forum and tweak the description to change it to encourage debate (rather than anything else).  I also agree with not moving established threads even if they get heated.

Thanks Joe.  I think I also took it bad as I'm going through an extremely hard time with my wife and not sure if my marrage will last much longer :\

Oh that's not good!  I am very sorry to hear that.  Of course it makes me feel like an even bigger ass, but I deserve it.  Your wife seemed friendly and cool from what I saw in the videos.  Oh man.  :(

PCEngineFX

Unless marrage counseling can do anything (which I'm forcing her to do tomorrow) we're probably done (and I'll have to move out of the house which will be a fucking BITCH as the house is like 90% my stuff).

I'm putting PCEFXTV ep.8 on hold now as well (and right after I spent a chunk of change on the new set).  The entire situation just pisses me off.

Does she own the physical house or something, even though most of its contents are yours?  That sucks man.  I hope you can work things out because moving is a huge pain.  Plus it would really suck trying to to PCEFXTV 8 from a cardboard box.  :)

PCEngineFX

Well the house is under both our names, but she is primary - plus if we really did go all the way and get a divorce, I couldn't afford the mortgage on our current house anyway by myself.  We have been trying to sell our old condo which I could live in myself so at least I could live in that...but yah moving all of my stuff would be a major pain in the ass (plus I'd have to buy a car).

I don't know what your situation is, but I hope she doesn't go after your gaming stuff out of spite.  Women can be evil that way.  They see something you like and they want to make you sad so they attack/try to claim your possessions.  Be glad you don't own the house fully under your name, she'd probably get it somehow.  I love women but they are evil.

PCEngineFX

Well it's really she wanting to leave (not me) so I'm not worried about possessions (she doesn't want any of my stuff anyway).  She's not the kind of person who would try to attack me so at least that part is good.

Ok I'm going to continue work on PcenginefxTV and other media projects.  No need to sit around and be all depressed about things.  We will be having our first counseling session tonight so we will see what comes out of it.

Just an update - everything is getting better, but have been SUPER busy with a client video production over the past 2 weeks so have done (almost) nothing related to the show yet.
