10/31/2023: Localization News - Dead of the Brain 1!

No, NOT a trick, a Halloween treat! Presenting the Dead of the Brain 1 English patch by David Shadoff for the DEAD last official PC Engine CD game published by NEC before exiting the console biz in 1999! I helped edit/betatest and it's also a game I actually finished in 2023, yaaay! Shubibiman also did a French localization. github.com/dshadoff/DeadoftheBrain

Like the loser I was I even laminated the book to prevent damage :/ I also highlighted the games I had in the cheats section and wrote down the games that I wanted/own in the notes section :)

One that has always made me smile since the 90s is from Samurai Showdown II (Neo Geo)

Still a better translation from Japanese that I could manage

The first game that I had purchased for me was Space Invaders for the Atari 2600.

As for the first one purchased with my own hard cash would have been Starquake for the ZX Spectrum:

Quote from: tknjin on 03/11/2015, 05:40 AMJust to let you know Forgotten Worlds never came with a spinecard.  If you go to dingsbums blog he personally made a spinecard for the game because the only way it ever had any form of a bar code is when it was in the avenue pad 3 big box.

Darius Sound Sheet:

After a few years of searching I have been lucky enough to stumble across copies of both the Darius and Genpei Toumaden sound-sheets.  These were given away with PC Engine Fan.

I have pulled together some information on the Darius release along with a link to the audio track. When I get time I will re-rip the audio tracks and pull together a page for Genpei Toumaden.

Link: https://tinyurl.com/lztdp8t

Note I did not rip the audio, credit to <unkown> for this.

Make PC Engine games with a PC-98 or an MSX. I'm not sure what kind of language this supports. These things are apparently very rare, because you had to send in to purchase them.
Interesting to note that they say the most expensive dev kits, presumably for CD-ROM games, cost literally 10 million yen, or about $100,000.
You can download a copy of the devlo book above from here:

Hi Folks

I have picked up a copy of Tengai Makyou Fun Kabuki Den (Far East of Eden) that comes in a tin box outer.

The CD in the tin box is the same as the retail copy with ID: HCD3046

The only references that I have managed to track down relating to this release is that it maybe a limited edition, a collector edition or a show giveaway.

Does anyone have details of what this release is?

I have played this game today and I just cannot get into it. Not sure why, maybe I will give it another blast later.  So far I can only get to level 3!

Agree that the timer does seem to get in the way of exploration.

The game of the week thread was a great idea as it is making me play some of the titles that have  been sitting in my collection, just like this one O:)
