And the Spiderman thing, I'm not judging anyone. As a super-diehard comics fan I pretty much have to watch it. It just sucks when certain storylines get butchered on the big screen, which is how I felt about the last two reboots, its just seemed like a gigantic money grab and assertion of control over Stan Lee's character. Lee sued Sony over his creation and was I think awarded 10% of everything and a cameo in every movie and series in a settlement or judgement. That's apparently why Marvel went with Netflix, because they were able to in-house everything.
...But again, Marvel isn't a tiny company any more. They're fucking Disney... at this point the only person I care about in this Spiderman war is Stan The Man, who created a comic book that the world loves, and is finally getting paid for it. It just sucks that there is this embroiled war over who owns it.
...Oh and Miles Morales, the new Spiderman is badass. I really dug the few issues that I read. Peter Parker is washed out like an old pair of jeans at this point, imo.

I get my moneys worth out of my photoshop sub in both income and money saved performing tasks that would otherwise cost a lot of money. This argument has been had a million times before, and I understand why it's not right for you, but for me and a million other artists it's hard to ween away from the teet of photoshop. It's great, has a great tools and most of us have over 15-20 years using the same tools yet improved and modernized constantly. I am happy fruityloops is a one stop shop for you, but that's apples and oranges no pun intended. I understand your frustration that photoshop doesn't have a low resolution indexed color workflow in mind, but it IS still possible and is a super low priority for Adobe. It's still undeniably the best raster image software you're going to find, even if a small portion of its use case is outclassed by a program specifically designed for that use case.
I don't know that DAWs and coloring programs are really as apple and orangey as you think. They are both on the same level of complexity, and people get into the same religious arguments about the various options...

and I really just go back to the part where the issue is an actual bug in photoshop. It's just comical, since they could probably fix it pretty easily.
Probably easier than when we had to reload the image with Allegro or SDL, and rewrite the file with a reversed palette.

Back then, I had Photoshop 5 LE. Limited Edition? You bet it was limited, limited in functionality to be more specific.
First of all, if you exported any picture, it would apply some color correction profile to it, resulting in some slightly darker tinted appearance. Also, text layers would be converted to bitmap layers as soon as you were done typing the text - only one chance to do it right at the first time, no chance to do any corrections on your text later on.
I think this was supplied as a freebie with some parallel port flatbed scanning device.
Later on, a friend from the university handed me Photoshop 7. Much better. I'm still using it today, works from ye olde Win95 up to Win10 64 bit.

If GIMP were equal to a building, Photoshop would be equal to a city. You can do just insane amounts of stuff with it... one example: make slices and build a completely interactive webpage complete with generated code from your artwork.

yeah if you fuck off at the bottom of the screen, you're basically asking to get dead. You have half as many places to move to, and you can't wipe stuff out as quickly.
there's times where you basically want to be almost touching stuff as you shoot it, so you inflict deadness ASAP. you also need to get used to your collision box, because you can actually touch stuff and not die. You only die when it's really really touch. touch and really touch won't kill you.

I will admit, Apple's hardware is kinda nice. The screen was the best laptop screen at the time. It all smelled nice. It was a neat thing. I was excited. PC laptops hadn't adopted good keyboards yet.
So I was like "OK, I could get a Gateway also. They have an accidental damage replacement plan. What do you have, Appleduder?"
He goes OH WE GOT APPLE CARE ITS GREAT. MY NIECE SPILLED GRAPEJUICE ON MY MACBOOK, GOT A NEW ONE FREE OF CHARGE. FREE REPAIRS AND EVERYTHING.

1) The power brick started to fall apart

Then they refunded me the entire cost of the AppleCare plan, and I talked them into refunding me for all the other accessories I had bought since he wasted my fucking time.
As I left, I went over to the music demo-y setup and started playing the intro synths from Jump, recorded it, had it set to repeat, plugged the mouse into the adjacent computer, cranked the volume, pulled the volume knob off the speakers, and just walked out, lol. I flicked the volume knob into the bushes, turned around and threw up some middle fingers and just strolled away laughing.
Then I sold the broken macbook for 900$ on ebay and got a Gateway.
When the accidentally replacement thing was about to expire, I took the HDD out and punted it down a flight of steps at the mall.
Got me a free replacement, and since it was an old model, they gave me the current equivalent.
Did that two more times.
Hell yeah.

I have "late 2008" MacBook for my main machine still. I haven't replaced it because none of the new laptops have storage or decent potential for it (I have two 1TB HDs in the current machine, its *really* expensive to have that much internal flash storage in the new stuff). It's on it's third battery but...it's 9 years old so that's actually pretty good.
Some keys died in it and I replaced the keyboard myself for $80. That was when it was like five years old. One nice thing about MacBooks is that they are the best selling notebooks by a mile so there are hundreds of parts sources on eBay. Even when the stuff is years out of production.
I don't smash things or spill shit so it's been great so far.
Parallels was indeed a waste of money.
I think my next one will just be a Mac Mini. They basically require that you have external drives hanging off your shit now so I don't see the point of a laptop that it's only portable for pretend. This way I pay half as much.

I arrange my Turbo games by color. I have the orange titles first, then the genre colored titles arranged as to be appreciated by my boy Roy. G. Biv. Then I have my CD games after that, regular CDs followed by Super CDs.

I separate mine by format. That's it. There isn't even really any point to that. Rummaged through the "wrong" games in an attempt to find the right one is my way of engaging with my entire collection. Same for everything else I have. I may own hundreds of LDs and thousands of records but I only have maybe a half dozen categories.
I'm pretty sure this is how my jewel cased games are sorted:
I have Arcade Card, bicompatible, and demo CD games at the top of one CD rack. Then Super CD games go downward in order of RPG'ish: War Sim: Actiony arcadey non-shooters, shooters, digital comic/adventure and then misc.
The shelf to the right is Turbo CDs up top, first SCD (d
sorted by spine color?), then CD2. Beneath that are PCE CD2 in the same kind of genre order.
To the right of that is TurboChips up top. Orange spine first, then the rest sorted by color. Beneath that is the few CIC PCE HuCards I have left.

I honestly find this topic very interesting. It's bugged me forever that Turbo games had 2 wildly different looks. As a kid I had a stack of games and I already wanted to sort them by orange label or colored label. After that, mixing CDs and turbo chips left me with a bad feeling about my stuff. I separated those two and then it became more apparent to separate further due to how the library worked.
I also had the pair of black Tengen games separate from the rest of my NES games in the box I had them in.

Generally whatever was just play d is on top. Shame about the colour coding of Tg16, cause right when you think you've got it figured out, there is SideArms.
I sort them by genre or series. E.g. all Konami spaceship pew-pews go together.
I keep everything random, that way if I'm looking for something to play I look around at all the titles and sometimes change my mind and decide to play something else. If it were all alphabetical I feel like I'd loose the exploration aspect and just play the same stuff over and over.
I sort my games by weight.

Having already cleaned the heads and relubed some of the bearings/bushings that are more easily accessible. But it looks like I've got to open up the machine one more time and do some disassembly to get to servicing the motors and other not so obvious bushings. The screeching noise coming from inside of the machine isn't funny anymore. Oh well.
Also got some Maxell UR-90 blank tapes. Ferric, but they seem to be the only tapes around that are still produced and do not cost you and arm and a leg. Let's see how my old childhood tapes perform on this machine once I'm done servicing it.
EDIT: Just done recording Duane & Brando's LP of Devastation onto some used Sony EF Super-60 ferric tape and now listening to it. Dolby C noise reduction was applied, makes it sound rather nice. That screeching I told you made the recording vary in speed on some portions. So I'll re-record this another time.
I sold 200 cassettes to a local shop about a week before Guardians 1 came out.

You know clodbuster if you are diligent about it you can normally find new blank cassette tapes at thrifts for cheap. I picked up packs of them for awhile at around 50c a tape or less, have more than enough for now though.
why get new blanks when you can just go buy all the garbage 90s pop music tapes for less and tape over them.

The Maxell UR-90 were on sale for 2 € per pack of five, so I couldn't say no.
I'm not dead serious about that cassette tape deck. Just mildly serious enough for wanting to make it work again and have some fun recording silly stuff from my MP3 library. So I can make friends suffer, erm, listen to it.
And to show cassette tapes sound better than what most people think of them nowadays, if handled with proper recording equipment and noise reduction.

What you're touching on is part of a much larger issue of "who is it OK to make fun of and for what" that I think needs addressing.

When I was in college I had a classmate that was in a wheel chair. We worked together in a few classes on a few projects. At one point I was discussing something with him and I referred to something as "lame." It was exactly at that moment that I realized that any insult you sling is insulting to somebody. He didn't even seem to care but I felt really bad at that moment that because of something I used frequently due to its relatively innocuous nature.

This is a good discussion. It's nice to reflect, sometimes. We should all take a little time to think about what we do and why we do it, and whether there's maybe a better way to do it.
But on this specific issue, a lot of it comes down to respect and normalization. There was a time it was OK to normalize gay (homosexuality) as bad, because it was seen as a social ill, a perversion or nature, as something that was objectively wrong. Well, now we know that's stupid. And calling stuff that sucks gay implies that gay is bad, and gay people aren't bad people. And while very few people probably WANT to be on the autism spectrum or have developmental disabilities, it doesn't make them lesser people. Less smart, or less capable in a lot of ways, yes, but not, ultimately, less human. And so when we use those words as insults, it normalizes the idea that these people are bad or less human. I don't mean that saying something is gay or retarded automatically means you personally intend to dehumanize people who are those things. But when we collectively say that word use is acceptable, it means we're kind of saying it's OK for people to harbor those feelings about people, even if we might individually know that it isn't so.
Anyone who tells you the language you use doesn't affect the way you think is full of shit, because the human brain is wired for language, and language absolutely affects our views and thought processes.

Linguists know about the origins and use of language but that typically doesn't include language and the brain, ala psychology and neuroscience. And yes, given the challenges some gay folks face simply avoiding real and material discrimination or being beaten up by reprobates, I can understand him not being able to muster the energy to care about gay being used to mean bad or sucky. But it doesn't change the fact that using the word that way encourages association between gay and negativity. The psychology of language is worth the study. Sometimes the little things we do carelessly have meaningful cumulative effects.
Most people who use "gay" were using it before they knew what fucking even was, let alone gay fucking or retarded gay fucking.
I think that's where the pushback comes from on this and a lot of things. When they said Ninja Turtles were "gay" it really was without malice because they were just dumb kids who didn't know anything. Similarly, most people in the south were jerking off to flags decades before they saw Roots and...basically don't want to face reality and grow up.
It just makes you sound dumb, honestly. That's my main problem with it. Why is a bad thing a gay thing unless you hate gayness? Injustice 2 sucks. It keeps deciding that it doesn't have DLC characters that are already paid for and downloaded. Then sometimes it decides you can't re-download them because you haven't paid for them. Then sometimes it starts working again.

There have been some great DLCs, and some great games with little to no DLC, this year that came out. It's all over the place, and they're trying to figure out how to best make games profitable; I think we're lucky that some content is optional and they just haven't raised game prices with inflation and cost of production. Games used to cost a fraction of what they cost to make now, and sold for more at retail, pre-inflation. In some instances it's abused or done poorly ( look at battlefront 2... weird) but in some implementations it's rad ( I am really enjoying the Zelda BotW DLC right now)

So that's why I had a Nov 2018 site & Jan 2019 database (full system) backup, it was with consent/planning given the FTP access, but after they harassed Aaron on a ~daily basis as well to get rid of me instead and unban Nulltard (under NO circumstances would I agree to be in the SAME group with Nulltard, DP, and the rest ever again, I would've left/self exile!), he did what he thought about years ago anyway: close the doors! Riley "Gex" Reynolds or John Luedtke couldn't couldn't scream at him anymore on Twitter or DarkKobold, Nulltard, roflmao, Arkhan, etc. on Facebook if he simply closed shop, remain diplomatic as possible on the way out, and that seems how he played it.
I was of course disgusted with his amnesty unbans, which turns out was SamIam's idea/lobbying, and then letting a prime perpetrator of sabotage like Arkhan right back in here, which was the straw that broke the camel's back as far as I was concerned... He unbanned DarkKobold prior, which I confronted him about, reminded him that was the Kyle Thomson account on Facebook harassing you, then he restored the ban in his case. But when Arkhan slipped in, went on a psycho-posting spree, knocked off 11 posts, EACH ONE with my name on his lips/in his derange head - the easily scorned psycho that he is - I pretty much had enough of this pathetic amnesty unban idea which he didn't consult me on and was truly embarrassing!
The same psychos that plotted right here to clone/steal the forum (an earned permaban!), harassed/extorted/blackmailed me into oblivion (and him!) for almost year, and you're just letting them waltz right back in here when you're closing shop anyway, and could've done so drama-free ??? Alright, piece of shit is working now for all members. I hacked the developer's code away a bit, he relied on a SMF function call for member privilege that only returned true if you're an admin, but we can remove that and rely on the forum itself for a member being logged in, not a guest, etc.

Other than it scrolling properly (this one doesn't autoscroll on chrome) and being larger (maybe resizeable?), I don't remember it being much different. * Auto-scrolling, fixed/improved, every 3.5 seconds to the bottom/newest text.
* I added a resize ability good only for browsers with CSS 3.0 support like Chrome, and an active chat viewer list up-to-date every 4 seconds underneath the chat. (Seems people are leaving a chat window open all night since it was added...so doesn't necessarily mean they're in front of their phone/PC.)

Might I suggest a longer period for auto scroll? When I join chat I like to read what others are talking about, but it's hard to do in 3.5 seconds.
I think a button or checkbox to toggle it on/off will do the trick when I get to it. :)
EDIT: Err wait, I just made it smarter. It'll ONLY auto-scroll after detecting a new post at the bottom, and play the sound by default (that was buggier earlier). That might be good enough!
Everyone should do a full emptying of cache and refresh on your browser to make sure it all gets updated. Lots of changes, code is simpler, back to asynchronous style, server sends less HTML data to load text of room, should all make Matt happy. I'm surprised at the improvements and it works on IE with no conditional DHTML code tricks/differences now, etc.
EDIT: _Paul just suggested and made Bonk sound effects for the arrival event of a new text, I liked them so they've been added (mp3/wav versions). Lovin' it! :)

Heh, Gredler already gave me the ship and a Yuki with the RockCats before you ever said anything, so it'll get added. I mean, I threw the Adol in there which really doesn't serve much purpose other than for Falcom fanboys to throw it around once in a while in solidarity, so can't say no to other similar images. ;) You can provide sets of stuff if you want here.

This, pretty much. Unlike Rover who worked with me, provided both the :token: and competent popup lines from the game to associate with his Yukis. ;)
S'alright though, I was amused by Arkhan's years of begging for the shoutbox which played a large part in researching how to get one installed again. And it's an added bonus now to snuff out DildoPhile / chat. :twisted: Much more rewarding, heh...

Well, Gredler put direct effort in place when it came to the RockCats, tried different sizes and so forth, we talked about options for popup text on the spot, etc. So more motivation and direct collaborating led to faster results.
He also gave me others like a cheap static Yuki and your ship, but I didn't bother with the Yuki until the same thing happened with Rover who found 2 nice animated ones (Yuki & Geni), and knew exactly what perfect popup text to use, so that happened before the ship for that reason.
Now, I dunno how these new smileys can be shoehorned in posts, under what context, it'll be limited of course, but like I said, why not add a personal touch with our PCE legacy, no harm, no foul right ???

Nightwolve, anytime I move to the root of the forum no matter where I'm scrolled to the screen shoots up to the chatbox whenever it refreshes. It's starting to annoy lol.
Are you clicking outside of the typing box so it's not active? What if you minimize the chat box or turn off auto-scroll?

I'm not using the chat window. No I'm just perusing the forums so in these instances it's when I'm away from the chat. I'll try turning off auto-scroll and see if that helps.
Okay here's what happens when I un-check auto-scroll. If I move into a subforum and then back out to the root again with my browser's back button the screen still snaps up to the embedded chatbox but for some reason the box is empty of text. Plus the audio tick that usually plays doesn't in this instance. On the other hand if I move into a subforum after un-checking auto-scroll and click "Home" or the PCFX logo the screen snaps back to the chatbox and auto-scroll has reactivated itself. Infuriating I tell ya.
Edit: I misunderstood you when you said "minimize" I thought you were referring to the pop-up window option. I figured out what you meant though. If I minimize the embedded chat window it fixes the problem. But sometimes I like having the window open just to keep an eye on you guys! :)
I hear ya. I can't fix anything, so I was just trying to give ya some less annoying options 'til NW has a chance to figure it out. :mrgreen:

Yeah, you never did like that ScrollToView() function, but I like it, heh. I made it only execute once to please you given your feedback (
you being one of the few adults in there versus the "RAWR, this ALWAYS worked on DildoPhile chat!" type of feedback from sirhcman'n'crew), but if you back up to the root from another page without hiding, it'll fire off again.
Alternatively, you can click the popup link, this will auto-hide/shutdown the embedded chatbox also, then leave the popup chatbox in the background, and continue off to threads, back up to the root/whatever/etc. with it still staying hidden, etc.
