Not that I really give a tin shit, but what exactly makes a title unclearable?  Certainly the system cards and tennokoe bank can't be cleared, but what about stuff like Yawara! and Magical Dinosaur Tour?

I can't imagine a situation where I could claim I've "cleared" Bikini Girls.

I couldn't call that a clear and still sleep at night.

i would define a clear if you cleared a game, simply. sys & ten cards are NO games, ergo there is no clear to be done. so aren't bikkini h00ster collections and such crap.

To be fair, I had the Arcade card listed as a clear until rag-time4 busted me out literally 36 hours after posting it. lol. I think in chat, Sinistron, I received the same flogging.  :oops:

Has anyone cleared the Game Express cards?  I keep trying and trying but I can't beat them.  And what about the Valis Visual Collection?  I was able to finally beat that but it sure was tough.  Took all of my skill.

Well, I was working on Blazing Lazers and Cosmic Fantasy 2. I have a good start on the latter, and got to level 9 on the former. that one is going to be a doozy.

BTW, the 8th level and its boss are the most inappropriate pairing ever.

Bump, for posterity. And also to re-fuel the debate on what constitutes a clear....

If Flash Hiders takes less than 20 minutes to beat on normal mode, but The Manhole takes a few hours to run around completely, can a game like The Manhole be constituted as a clear? It's basically Myst without any brainpower required.

Also few games/comics like Yawara 2 have side-games like a sushi simulator, a judo match, and a digital comic that add to the insanity. When I spoke with runinruder regarding Yawara 2 the last time in chat, he said that once you beat all of the Judo ladies and complete the side games then you could count it cleared. But what about digital comics? My opinion is that if it doesn't have an interactive quality (i.e. valis visual collection), its a lost cause and a definite no..

I'd say digital comics count, regardless of their inactivity, because you still have to "play" them all the way through to the end. There is still a story, and you're still "playing" a character within that story. ("Playing" being extremely subjective here.)

I agree with nat: if you actually control something, it can be counted as a clear.

Couldn't some of these have the "clear" option removed? Or does it have to be all or nothing?

I think that people are taking the "clear" concept too seriously. Non-games still serve a function and some like Valis Visual Collection have quite a bit of content and someone who's experienced it fully can offer a lot to certain discussions. The only way that it becomes an issue is the clear tally ranking among members. But you'd have to have only cleared a number of games so low for the system cards and tennokoe bank to make an impact, that it would be more of an embarrassment in itself, than checking non-games off as "cleared". If you're so hardcore that you've cleared hundreds of games, what difference does a handful of clears for non-games matter? It's all bullshit anyway, since anyone can put down anything they want and someone who has never touched a TG-16 or PCE can claim to have cleared more games than anyone else. We already know that the account with the most clears is full of shit, so what does it matter?

All that "clear" means for non-games is that you've actually made use of them. That's better than them only ever collecting dust on a shelf. As for ratings, most non-games should receive a full rating for serving their intended purpose, but I can see something like Artist Tool getting a low rating for not offering much as a 16-bit painting program.

Tennokoe Card, the only game Byron owns that he ever beat.

Well, what we do know is that he used a Genesis controller. Guess Tennokoe Bank can't be truly cleared with the PCE pad.
