Here's a logo in PCE graphics that I've only begun to touch up and shade:

(1) I would have the text overlap numeral "2" more aggressively!

(2) I'm on my phone and can't describe how it would be fun if... bottom layer = base trunk of "2", middle layer = logos, top layer = sections of "2" that "strategically  overlap edges of the logos (implying depth or  "weave" of 2 layers).

(3) Alternative (break horizontal line): Lower the NES down a few pixels + right, raise "NEC" a few pixels up + left.

Two weeks ago I had to say goodbye to my old friend.

At least 400,000 miles on that little bastard.

The odometer broke over 10 years ago. But I averaged at least 20,000 miles a year, so....

My poor car...loyal for 20 years...but I did not make any repairs* for the past two years and instead of fixing her up, I opted to purchase my brother's old car (2008 Honda Civic).

His old car = my new car.

* repairs needed on my old car:
New windshield
New exhaust pipe + muffler
Possibly new catalytic converter
New tires
Overheating


Trivia: The old-timers may recognize the 2006 Honda Odyssey. Mandatory vehicle for three kids in suburbia.

Oh yeah - it's not that crazy, but I was in Friends in Akihabara, when I came across Metamor Jupiter - I hadn't heard of it before, so I pulled it out, and on the back of the box, who do I see but my old pal Masaya Matsuura, of Parappa the Rapper fame. I was actually going to see him the next day, so I picked it up, because why the heck not!

So I brought it to his office the next day, and after chatting a while said "hey, do you remember this?" and he said "oh man, I forgot about this game. This is actually the first game with my music in it." - previously he was the songwriter for an excellent band called PSY.S, which is known for its song Parachute Limit, from City Hunter (which also had a PC Engine game made from it, but his music wasn't in there).

So I had him sign the obi (why the heck not), and I asked him what he thought of the game, since I was in japan and away from my console, so I couldn't play it yet. He said he'd never played it. He just wrote some tracks, sent them off, and that was it. No wonder he didn't remember it!

Awesome, so now I know I wasn't full of shite when I speculated on his career (earlier in this thread).

Can I use your story + photo if I expand the commentary?

Since somebody uploaded the episodes onto Youtube in 480p anyway, I didn't care about doing ugly interlaced screenshots from my old PAL DVDs. They fulfill their purpose of showing that Yohko is pretty much an early 90s gaming geek.

I spotted an odd white coloured GameGear, Lynx and PC Engine Duo (with black Multitap and controller), while the Mega Drive and Super Famicom retain their original colours.

Plus, have a look at the power supply bricks in the last picture.

WE ALL AGREE: From 1989 onward, all new PCE products (CoreGrafx, DUO, SuperCD, LT...and GT, too?) should have been equivalent to SuperGrafx hardware.

An aggressive "upgrade your old PCE" campaign + coupons + candy would sweeten the deal.

Altered Beast SGX would be launch title.

Cross-promotions between SuperGrafx, Capcom/Konami shmups and popular confectioners would be paramount to success.

For example, imagine a Reese's SuperGrafx campaign:

 

A series of 7 collectable Gradius/Parodius/Gyruss SGX stickers, exclusively found in Reese's products. 

A series of 9 collectable 1941/Legendary Wings SGX stickers, exclusively found in Reese's products.

I just dug up my antiques... Looks like I had two.   I don't think I had any pads back in the early days that had auto fire and playing some of those shmups was hell especially the darius plus where I had to mash the buttons to the point I almost threw the pad at the screen..

I am an advocate of playing without autofire sometimes...just to see how hardcore you can be.

Now, I'm not crazy, I am not saying never to use it...but I often play sans turbo.

The composition of the vinyl/plastic determines whether or not it will degrade/stick to HuCARD.
