10/31/2023: Localization News - Dead of the Brain 1!

No, NOT a trick, a Halloween treat! Presenting the Dead of the Brain 1 English patch by David Shadoff for the DEAD last official PC Engine CD game published by NEC before exiting the console biz in 1999! I helped edit/betatest and it's also a game I actually finished in 2023, yaaay! Shubibiman also did a French localization. github.com/dshadoff/DeadoftheBrain

Quote from: SignOfZeta on 02/04/2015, 05:10 AMYeah, you can build that circuit, or you can just turn up your stereo. I prefer the later method since it works perfectly for every system.
Really? Turn up my stereo you say? Works for every system you say? Well, my reasons for asking go beyond just volume.

IMG
IMG
Cool grab Cy. That Mustang looks like a Korean manufactured board with that sticker across the roms. Is it the same romset as Japan region?

I figured there is a lot of Compile love on the is forum so when I found this in  box of old parts....I thought it was time to break my raffle cherry.

This is the old SG1000 game (Compiles first shooty) patched and thrown on a standard SMS cart. Runs on a SMS with EXP or USA bios....and maybe a Powerbase Converter. I don't have one to confirm this.

Drawing is when I feel like it.
I'll cover shipping to USA
International needs to cover shipping or post of pic of their wife's ass with my username on it.

Model 2 Jamma Genesis with 2 player 3 button contols wired to Jamma.
The board is wired directly to +5V and will power on with the PSU, like a typical arcade pcb.
It's tested and looking great on a Wells K7000, I wouldn't suggest using this with a digital chassis until I can test it with some.

Also includes a Fix It Felix Jr. cart with clamshell case and insert.

$185 plus actual shipping.

Quote from: SuperDeadite on 09/03/2014, 07:51 AMAs stated, it's a bit too late to get into the AES game for normal people.  Haven't bought a new cart in roughly 4 years or so...   I love the shooties.

And the Slugs, gotta have the Slugs!

I have quite a few more, these are all old pics.

Wow...nice collection there SuperD. How many of your Realdollz did you need to sell for it...two?...or all three?

An old credit card and coffee filter works well. I like to use Deoxit, but alcohol should work
 for most cases.

I can supply the bios for people that need one. $9 shipped with a socket.

Also if you can remove your original bios cleanly and install the socket, I can program the chip to work with an less involved installation method.

IMG
#22
I went with Arkhan's idea and set it up to use clunky DIP chips and a socket  :P

Quoteusing a counter,4 LEDs and a momentary switch for a clock pulse would work and look pretty cool too.
I think in binary. Reading the page would be no problem :) The NVSRAM is a great idea, though.

Next question: Could we invert a tsop socket (and clean out the notched corner) and make it press-on?
Everything on a little board that just presses into place on top of the curent chip?

(Yeah, I know about the power issue. Just wondering if it could be done.)
Doesn't look like a snap on module would be easily done. Address 11 and 13 on the 62256 would need to be lifted for wire jumpers
to Vcc and /WE.
IMGIMG
#27
It's possible....I haven't done it with back up RAM, but I have built multi-carts that use  DIP switches and 4Bit counters to
manually select 8 pages on a ROM chip. RAM wouldn't be any different.

If you wanted to pay an extra $10 or so you could this mod with a Ramtron/NVSRAM and eliminate the need for the save cap.

TheOldMan's idea using a counter,4 LEDs and a momentary switch for a clock pulse would work and look pretty cool too.  8)

I would probably use a Hex switch. It has a 4Bit output and you can easily read what page your on.

What about using trimmers? Use a 0.5K and dial it in until you get the best result.
There are vary small ones made that are not much bigger than a resistor.

Use two irons and a drop of paste flux. Heat both sides and push the cap off the pads. Then use a fluxed wick to clean.

Something like this works good for getting in tight places.

After playing Ecco for the first time since I was 15 or so I don't know why I remember this game fondly.
It is nothing but cheap deaths and pure frustration. The controls are ok for open areas but for tight areas
and moving things around the are clunky as hell. Drowning will be about all you do if you try to finess your
way through the game and try to dodge and kill things. Add in respawning enemies, disappearing puzzle items
and shit that will crush you if just your nose bumps into makes this game one big fucking punch in the balls.

Dolphins belong in tuna cans...not video games

Lamekat and I are starting up on two Jamma adapter boxes for any PCE modded with a Dsub out.
Inputs will be a D-sub9 and a mindin that will be fed through the pad hack, RGB amp, and sound power amp.
All these will then be bundled to a standard Jamma loom.

D-Sub9 attached to RGB, Sync, Gnd and Right Audio
/dsc02237hs.jpg

Straight RGB and Sync with 47ohms on a Wells K7000 chassis.
Sync works good, RGB is overdriven and will be fed through an amp and three .5K trimmers later.
