I had the Sharp Twin for a while but got me two Monitors; they take Composite, S-Video, and RGB.  Score.  Built in speaker too and also a pass through.
That tiny JVC TV is adorable.  What's the model of it, and what kind of connections does it take?

The Muv-Luv Trilogy Collector's Box - PS Vita Kickstarter Edition has finally arrived!
Almost 3 years after I made the initial pledge I'm happy to see this finally get delivered on my front door. The package contained a lot of stuff, here's a quick rundown though:

1) The physical PS Vita games for Muv-Luv (includes Muv-Luv Unlimited on the cartridge as well) & Muv-Luv Alternative

2) The Collector's Edition Box; within which there is a Muv-Luv game creator signature(!) on Limited Edition Sticker, Kickstarter Edition Physical Artbook, and Physical OST CDs

3) Max Factory Figma SP-037 Kagami Sumika Action Figure (also Kickstarter Exclusive)

There are also a number of digital rewards that I got along the way, but they don't really show up that well in a picture :p

Click the main picture if you want to see the rest of the photos I took.

The card that came with my copy is different from what nectarsis got though, mine was foiled and reminded me of an older Urushihara cards set that I've got so I took a comparison picture:

You're an Ys fan ? Where did you get the Adol ? Not sure, but I'd guess it's an Ys VI model.
Looks like it was a trading figure, from one of those blind box jobs they do in Japan.

Went by Vintage Stock this morning.

Not a ton there, got some cheapo Genesis games to gut and swap cases with my other ones, for a couple bucks.  Then a Sega AC, Vita Charger, and 6 button pad for $10.

But, I had a great score after I was looking around sections I don't normally visit.  Went by the Comic/Manga section and found these!
IMG

The Battle Angel Alita: Last Order manga: Volumes 11-15

I almost shat my pants when I saw them, for those who don't know (which is probably most people) Viz Media released the Alita manga in comic form starting in 1995.  They did a couple revisions of the original series, and then when Kishiro did Last Order they started translating/releasing them as well.  They released it up until late 2011 and then the license went to someone else, Kodansha Comics, who continued releasing the last several volumes.  Viz did 1-15, and Kodansha did 16-19, and then released Omnibus editions later.  But, the later Viz volumes are like incredibly expensive and hard to locate anymore, hence why I was elated to get these at only $5.

I suppose you might be asking, why didn't I keep purchasing the series after volume 10 and got behind?  Well, I used to buy all my manga at Borders back then, and when they folded (mid 2011 near me) I was left with no easy way for me to get the volumes anymore so I just forgot about it.  When I realized Last Order had ended a couple years back I started to look for the missing volumes, but was saddened to see there were a number that were so expensive, and I really didn't want to rebuy the whole thing in Omnibus edition.  So, it's been a couple years coming, but I've finally got the volumes I for Last Order I didn't think I'd ever find.

Just got the Limited Edition version of The Coma: Recut from Play-Asia!

IMG

I played this a bit on my friend's XBone awhile back and the combination of horror, puzzles, and brutal enemies made me super excited when I saw a physical version was going to be released.

Their listing says that it comes with a Collector's Box, Game Disc + Manual (64 pages), Original Soundtrack, and Numbered Certificate.  But there were also the extra bonuses from Play-Asia in the form of the big sticker sheet, regular sticker, plus a cool rubber coaster thing that's got the name/emblem of the school from the game. Definitely not bad for $30 (plus shipping).

Looks like they are also still in stock if anyone is interested:

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1676714319/xeno-crisis-a-new-game-for-the-sega-genesis-mega-d/description

IMG

QuoteXeno Crisis is a new, original title for the Sega Mega Drive / Genesis which will be released both as a physical cartridge and also as a downloadable ROM. At its core, it's an arena shooter that takes inspiration from the likes of Smash TV, Contra, Mercs, Granada, Alien Syndrome, Zombies Ate My Neighbours, Chaos Engine, and Shock Troopers.

We want the game to look, feel and sound like the classic Mega Drive games of the '80s and '90s, but also add some new elements that weren't so common in games of that era, particularly procedural map generation and randomisation of gameplay elements. Achieving that classic look and feel is vitally important to us, which is why we've teamed up with legendary pixel artist Henk Nieborg, who previously worked on the Mega Drive title "The Misadventures Of Flink", developed by Psygnosis.

We're also working with "Savaged Regime"; a highly renowned chip-tune artist that knows how to push the Mega Drive's YM2612 chip to the limit - you can hear a sample of the Xeno Crisis soundtrack in the Kickstarter video above.

The game is currently at the prototype stage and we will be releasing the finished product in October 2018 to coincide with the 30th anniversary of the Mega Drive's launch in Japan. We're launching this Kickstarter campaign to fund the remainder of the title's development.
Personally I think this looks really cool.  Thankfully they've already been fully funded in less than a week and have reached the first stretch goal for co-op play.

Some pick ups.

Got Ar Nosurge Plus in a trade.  Plan on playing this one when I'm stranded at the in-laws for three days at Christmas.  Wife said I had to remain sober with her family this year.  :(

Semisphere is a very different puzzle game from anything else I have played. Lots of thinking on this one, but very enjoyable.....the sound track is so relaxing it puts you to sleep.  It did come with a soundtrack CD that I'm going to burn a copy of it for my alarm clock and use it as a white noise machine.

Curse of Castilla is a great Ghouls N' Ghost style game.  Sound track sounds like it came straight off the Sega Genesis.  Enjoying this one a lot.  Highly recommended.

Axiom Verge.  I thought long and hard about buying this on either the Switch or the Vita.  I already had it digitally on the Vita from some sale Sony did a while back.  I hated the touch controls the Vita version used on the corner of the screen for certain abilities.  I settled on the Switch version instead for the larger screen and the extra buttons the controller.
Nice get on the Ar no Surge, I know it's quite hard to find now.

The Summon Night 6 Wonderful Edtion for the Playstation Vita is here!

Released by Gaijinworks this LE is pretty amazing, and they definitely set the bar high with this one when it comes to production values.

Besides the game itself there is a double-sided poster, character plush, full CD soundtrack, coaster set with headshots, and a 200 page hardbound artbook! To keep it all together it comes in a heavy chipboard box with full color printing all over and magnets to keep it closed and with a helpful pull ribbon for opening.

It was a long time coming, but man was it worth it.

It's here!! My copy of Surgical Strike for the Sega CD 32X has finally arrived after a long trip from Brazil. A custom reproduction by VGDB Brazil, this comes with a glossy hard box to hold everything, a pressed CD of the 32X version of the game (which was only released in Brazil), plus instruction manual, poster and an info/history card.
Except for a tear in the top of the box which was covered up by a sticker, production quality looks great. The game ISO was also released by the person who made these repros, but I've been waiting for the full release to try it out and compare video quality against the regular SegaCD one.

A delightful Sunny Rain 'Golden Tart' from Odell Brewing. I tried to think of some of my favorite Golden Tarts to match it and instantly thought of Princess Misa from Götzendiener. Going with the Gainax theme I figured Alisia Dragoon would be a good one to include as well.

Quote from: TheClash603 on 08/23/2017, 07:44 AMAre there any examples of spine cards that actually look cool, rather than examples of spine cards that should've looked cool?
Spine cards for many games were a way to extend the art all the way to the border of the package on some games.  I don't see it as regularly on PCE stuff, but lots of Mega CDs used this kind of trick, like Dennin Aleste:

Dennin-Aleste-cover.webp

I also see it regularly on audio CDs, as it is a neat way to get the consumers attention I'm guessing.  Here is a random example of some from my own collection (did a random Flickr search), the 2 on the left do not have obis, the others do.

IMG

Personally, I love getting spine cards with games as I think it's a cool little thing to go with the package, but I will not cry into my cheerios if it's missing.  Like NecroPhile said they are easy enough to stick in the manual if you want to go that route.

I actually picked up a bundle of poly-bags from Japan for single and double-CD cases so that I can put them in the bag and display them that way.  It adds like no bulk to the package and the obi just stays in the bag when I pull it out to play, then slides back around when I put the game away to go on the shelf again.

Due to a heavy dose of jet lag induced insomnia, I've started to explore the Kowloon area of Hong Kong as well as Shenzhen's Huaqiangbei "The World's Greatest Electronics Market" late at night on a recent trip to China.

I realised that the unfamiliar place, time of day, the carpark rooftop I found accidentally and misusing Lightroom to create improbable isometric perspectives all help together to create a slightly alien and uncanny atmosphere that reminds me of early 1990's cyberpunk games + films like Syndicate or Blade Runner, which led to developing the aesthetic for this series.

Quote from: bartre on 08/10/2017, 06:15 PMYeah, I never held on to the boxes, I might still have my old LEGO magazines somewhere.

I probably had the most fun with the late 90s sets, but maybe that's just cuz it was what was new when i was a kid.
I remember getting a couple 50 gallon buckets of legos courtesy of my grandparents as a kid because they were my uncle's when he was a kid, that was a good day :)
Even as a kid though, I hated having to sort through EVERYTHING any time i wanted a specific piece.
so my mom bought a bunch of these little rubbermaid containers meant for shoes, I'm pretty sure my legos are still color sorted at her place......

for me though, lego started to fade around the time i started high school, which is just as well because that's around the time they started with this monstrosity of a bad decision:

xcrement5x has one. It perfectly compliments the model 1 set, just as the Rom2 Amp does the white PCE/IFU.

I was disappointed that it wasn't included in the final boss fight of Segagaga.
This is an older pic, but it really is a slick looking piece of hardware that goes with the MD/CD1 and makes a cool set.

Sadly (but maybe for the best since I'm a horrible singer) I do not do much karaoke with it.  It has some neat audio settings that were fun to play around with in games sometimes though.  Mine has been MIA after a move though, I try not to think about it and hope it's just hiding somewhere :(

Lol, you know I actually even debated posting my previous comment (and picture) because I had a feeling you were going to rip into it about the animation being mid-90s instead of 80s or earlier.

I spent a lot of time when I was younger watching probably more 90s anime than anything else, and while I will easily admit that the difference in quality is noticeable, I personally don't mind too much.  I still like the character styles and the animation quality from that time, and to use an oft-overused meme:

IMG
#42
Heh, it's funny that you watched A-Ko recently because I decided to grab an older title myself recently.  I started watching Magic User's Club and it's another one of those that you can tell there was definitely some time spent on doing the animation by hand since it's an OVA.  I'll easily admit that it was seeing a picture of Akane that made me research the show a bit more before starting it though.

IMG

Something about that anime from that period just gets me!

So I have two Dengeki G's Engine issues I really don't have much need/want for:

Issue #2 (7/1996) and Issue #7 (12/1996)

Was thinking $20 for the pair, if you're interested let me know.  They are in good shape but have some wear to them, I think one from December 96 has a crease on the corner of the front. Just the books, though they do each still have the "18+" supplements to them as well which look like the last picture below inside the magazine.  Each magazine is just under 200 pages in length.

This does work so do it! Take it from someone who has done this on many DUOs with fantastic results.
The Magic Eraser is a really tough abrasive, it can erase the texture off most plastics very easily.

It really matters how hard you push while using the eraser in my experience.  Doing it lightly a couple times can at least make it looks more consistent in general.
