This week's import haul: (and a whole lotta other mess!)
IMG
Good news: Got my Neo Geo CD way faster than I expected!   :D
Bad news: It doesn't work.
The disk won't read or spin... at least not very much. (See this video: http://instagram.com/p/oGohb-HAGv/)
If anyone has any suggestions, throw 'em at me.
Here's everything else I got:
Neo Geo CDs
King of Fighters '94
King of Fighters '95
The Way of the Blade (That's the Japansese "Last Blade" right?)
Garou Densetsu 3
Shin Samurai Spirits
Famicom
Pinball
Macross
Itadaki Street

I for one do not understand all the doom-mongering on the Wii U. I got one at launch and have had a hell of a fun time with it. Not to mention, with Wii mode you can obey off-TV on the GamePad!

Anyway, got me some imports today.
IMG
$100 Million Dollar Kid
Hokuto No Ken 2
and Gokujou Parodius! (I'm actually surprised how up to par this one is with the Saturn/Arcade version. There's even 3 more characters!)

Yep, nothin' like naked chicks and spaceships to get you ready to shoot your probe into things.  8)

Speaking of Bonk, after being a TG16/PCE gamer for a year, I finally got it!
IMG
I also got Gaiares for the Mega Drive, as seen on top of the TV. Cool thing is it's one of those carts that will play in English if you put it in a US console. (Thank you Game Genie.)

Quote from: Joe Redifer on 03/11/2014, 12:09 AMAll that really matters is that you have Crüe Ball.
Hey, what can I say? I like me some pinball. I've actually bought every single table on Pinball Arcade. Judge me.

Also, my new Super Canadian TG16 came with that copy of Cyber Core bundled in, and that came with a super Canadian French manual! I think this literally is, "Le Turbo."

Looks okay. At least it looks just like the DIN on my Genesis. Do they commonly get jammed deep inside the port? The seller said they hadn't used it in over 10 years and didn't have the video cable to test it, so who knows. Incidentally, it's from Canada if that has anything to do with it.
#8
Guess who just got his first US TG-16! Now I can Obey across the globe!
IMG
Got a few games with it:
Cyber Core
Blazing Lazers (onscreen, obviously)
Double Dungeons (sold to me by forumite Majors... thanks dude!)
Takin' it to the Hoop

Console works great, but I think the controller's busted, at least, this isn't supposed to be the female end, right?
IMG
So, I guess I'm in the market for some TG16 controllers! Or at least an adaptor to use my PC Engine controllers on it.
#9
A nice little grab bag of imports...
IMG
Onscreen is Daimakaimura for the Super Gr... I mean Sega Genesis. I also just got that Game Genie to use as a passthrough so I could play it on my US console.

Up against the screen we have Wrecking Crew for the Famicom and Winter Heat for the Sega Saturn.

15,188,500 for my first crack at it. Though I shall definitely try again! (on Fast Ball)

You know it gets bad when the wires reach around your TV and try to take your controllers hostage! Anyway, I tried to clean this one up a bit after I took this picture. It looks better... a little... ok not very much.
#12
I was getting a little depressed that only about 60% of my Famicom disks worked in my Famicom Disk System. So I bought some Xanax... erm, Zanac.
IMG
Pretty fun so far! Crazy to see a game this early in the Fammy's lifespan running this fast! Still need to figure this game out though.

Got some neat birthday stuff too I'll post about as soon as I get a picture of it.

(btw, someone recommended this guy to help with my disk problems. He TOTALLY fixed them! They work perfectly, and he even burned some All Night Nippon on one of the bad disk's good sides! I'd recommend him as well.)

Quote from: PunkCryborg on 01/28/2014, 08:48 PMGot this awesome PCB today with copy arts and manual  :D
IMG
Niiiiiiiiiiice, dude! Reminds me how much I want a SuperGun, or JAMMA Console, or custom cabinet, or whatever the heck I'd need to play those.
#14
Been a while since I posted here, but I got me a Famicom Disk System!
IMG
It also came with the box! (Not pictured)

Got 5 games with it (pictured right) and it works perfectly with three of them:
Super Mario Bros. 2
Exciting Basket
Famicom Grand Prix

Two of them are giving me problems though...
Moero Twinbee (Boots up and plays fine until it tries to load stage 3, then it error 27's)
Zelda 2 (Doesn't load at all. Error 27's at the boot screen.)

The person I got the system from says he just replaced the belt. So no idea if it's the disk system or the disks themselves. I'm tempted to just buy an extra copy of each to be sure before I risk mangling this thing trying to fix it. Any suggestions?
#15
Look what I just got for $5 on my 3DS! :D
IMG

and also Bit.Trip Saga...

I picked up an RF adaptor to replace my Famicom one that died, and I had been using for my PC Engine. Anyway, it was just a cheap, fancily packaged HK one from Retro-Bit. Let's take a look at the back of the box. (I don't have good pictures of the cable itself...)
IMG
Notice how it contradicts itself, it says it goes to Channel 13 on the left side, but 3 or 4 on the paragraph on the right! Also, there's no way you could "seamlessly" switch from TV to game unless you have some kind of dual RF adaptor. It comes with a standard RF to coax cable, and a box that basically just works as an adaptor for a Sega Genesis Model 2. There's no other coax port on the box itself unlike the NES-101 gray box model.

Le sigh... either way it works alright with my PC Engine. Not the best picture, but I've seen much worse.

I just bought all three SNES Street Fighter II games on Wii U, because I guess I pretty much have to collect every single iteration of this game now... and they were doing a pretty sweet deal of them too. :D

IMG

What made this even harder to miss is that I got SSFII at an even greater discount for already having it on the Wii. :P

I'd be interested in those RoboTech LDs! (PM?)

Anyway, this finally came in the other day!
IMG

Guess it's time for me to join the Famicom-World forums now?  :-k

In lieu of a full-on catch up post, I'll just show you some of the more interesting things in my latest haul.

Gokujyo Parodius Deluxe Pack for Sega Saturn
Lagrange Point for Famicom
2 neat custom art NES controllers  :D

Bit of a catch up post here...
IMG

Finally got one of my hard drives that got fried a while back, so I got a fresh one (top left) to extract all the data onto. You might remember hearing me talk about two of them getting killed by a faulty power adapter. Well, here's the deal. Donor Drives LLC, the company I sent them in to get repaired, LOST one of them! They kept saying, "Oh we never received it." Even though I packed them both in the same box, and all of UPS's shipping manifests seem to say that there was no tampering with the package. So yeah, there's 500GB of data I'll never get back. Lesson here, besides don't experiment with old AC adaptors, is DON'T TRUST DONOR-DRIVES!! I'm not even going to link them since they don't even deserve the shred of PageRank they would get.

The big thing taking up most of this desk is the Project X Zone Limited Edition set! I went to GameStop to pick it up, didn't see any copies on the shelf, and so he handed me this one. Not sure if this was supposed to be a pre-order only thing but hey, I won't complain! It came with a sweet poster, art book, and OST (not pictured as it's still lodged in my car stereo.  =P~ )

Also pictured is my copy of Kato Chan & Ken Chan I got from TurboSwimbz's raffle. Got it a couple weeks back, and have been having a pretty good time with it since.

What is that, some kind of Strip Majong?

In an completely, entirely unrelated note, I really need to learn how to play that...

Hey it could be worse, we could've had that Always On DRM that was confirmed in the early SDKs... now we just have to pay and have online activation!

So yeah, even though they said it wouldn't happen, you pretty much still have to have an almost always on connection to activate/pay for the damn software...  ](*,)
Looks like I'll be sticking with the Wii U this gen.

But y'know what's great about being a radio news producer? I get to look at these "revolutionary" press releases. And their use. Of sentence fragments.

Wow... me too. Though I suppose the words "Parasol Stars" meant nothing to me until a few hours ago... dammit I'm never going to afford all this awesome OBEY!

Well, I got a couple in last week to cross off the list anyway...
IMG
The Alien Crush on the right is from forum member Trenton_net, btw. Great seller! Check his thread out for some great trades/sales.

I'm curious about that "Parasol Stars" game. Is it somehow related to the Rainbow Islands/Bubble Bobble series?

Nice! An Famicom/FDS is what I'm after next, that is after I get my PCE settled up. (That is to say, after I allow my checking account time to recover.)

Huh, so the PC Engine has bootlegs too. I guess I'm not surprised. Any weird in-game differences or is it just cheaply made/packaged?
Here is a good article on the subject.

This kind of stuff always intrigues me. Thanks for the link!

Well Mr. (or Dr.) Professorson, here you go:
IMG
In the bottom left corner is a launch XBOX which has survived through numerous RROD's (the three ring kind, and it will occasionally scare me by doing it again whenever the power goes out.) as well as some idiotic yet official Microsoft tinfoil rigging. Ahem...

And yet the bastards flat out denied they did it, even with solid evidence... scary that they want to us to buy into a console that will require a connection to some servers in their offices...
#32
Okay, trying out this image posting thing for the first time. Bear with me here....

Got in Takahashi Meijin no Whatjamacallit and a fresh in-box 5-way MultiTap! Came with all the inserts and everything!

And interestingly enough, the tap may have unlocked a potentially unexplored secret within Takahashi...   8-[

EDIT: Actually, it just looks like an issue with my extension cord. Still, wicked.
