I'm sure not too many people know of this since it was hardly broadcasted, but MIJET has/is working on a bugfix patch of sorts for Aldynes and is looking for feedback.

Incidentally, he's looking for other buggy games to work on to improve them. If anyone knows of any, feel free to let him know.

I think it would be cool to see something like the GDEmu on the PC-FX.
#3
Oh, I've already looked at various PCE games. Got a few games that interested me like Download, Dragon Egg, Star Parodier, but the PCE library is pretty big and I've only scratched the surface.

I'd also like to redo some older PCE translations like Photograph Boy and Blue Blink, which were very limited from a hacking standpoint.
#4
Have you tried playing any of the PC versions (X68000, FM-Towns etc.)?

I know for a fact that the SFC port of Emerald Dragon is really bad and that D considers the FM-Towns version to be the best version of the game. It could also be that the PC Engine port of EM is also bad.
#5
I'm down for doing some PCE translations in the future. But I will say RPG's or any other type of text-heavy game are a tough proposition from a hacking standpoint. If a game has a semi-complex menu system, a good deal of time and code usually goes into hacking a menu so that English text can fit in with as few compromises as possible. These types of projects can stretch on for several years until they're finished. Whereas a game with just basic dialogue and text might only take a few months to do.

I'm a hacker that goes by Pennywise at RHDN. Doing PCE translations was one of my goals when I decided to learn how to hack games, but since I didn't have any sort of previous experience or background in programming, I started with the NES. Which is why most of my translations are for the NES, but I've been branching out the past few years.

As a hacker, I would always want to do a VWF or bust, but since most of my projects are/were NES games, it wasn't possible due to most NES games not having VRAM. I always want my translations to be the highest possible. Anyway, I'd love to see a VWF in X2. I think a game like that deserves the best.
#7
I was talking with Dave Shadoff about continuing Dead of the Brain, but I need a translator for both games. Since there is no English translation for the first (the French translation does not help me), that would all be done from scratch. I've got some people in mind to do the translation, but I'm still working with them on other projects and the time is not yet right. Basically I would redump all the scripts and setup my own insertion system.

I'd also love to do or at least help with doing the PCE CD version of Emerald Dragon. I know the SNES version's translator, Eien ni Hen, and she'd be down to translate any other version of the game.

Esper sent me the WIP of Xanadu II, but I keep telling him to do a font hack or at least contact BonkNuts. Esper has a VWF routine that he's used for his various projects, but it doesn't work on hardware. It works on Mednafen though, which complicates the issue.

Here's some title screen mockups. I was thinking of going with something with traditional centering instead of being what I guess is left-aligned.

Quote from: guest on 04/15/2013, 03:34 PMI am down with this translation.  Can you have Nurse Betty hit on Wataru and tell him she wants to handle his alpha sword all night?
Do you like child porn? (Ok, that's probably not a fair question, so let me explain.) Wataru's like 9 years old and Nurse Betty is supposed to be Himiko, this little girl that's like 5 or 6. She's quite infantile/simple. Glad to your support though.

Quote from: guest on 04/15/2013, 11:21 AMI'm not sure I understand why anyone would re-translate this, but cheers for hacking some PCE stuff.
This translation came about as the translator and I had a general interest in translating games in the Wataru series and I was looking for a game to familiarize myself with the PCE and Mednafen's debugger. The Keith Courage game wasn't a really a translation per se, most of it seems to have been just made up in fact, so it might as well be another game in my opinion. Also this game was almost like hacking an NES game, which was a very easy process for me. All the other hucard games I looked had their fonts stored in some weird/compressed format that would require additional work for a translation.

https://www.romhacking.net/translations/6762/

Hey folks. This is my first PCE project that I've started hacking. It's Mashin Hero Wataru, the Japanese version of Keith Courage. The translator said the game was shit as well as the script, but I know at least one person who likes the game. I'm impartial though, but it does strike me as being a tad shitty. I don't care though, I just hack 'em.

Anyway, the first draft of the script is finished, but it needs a good amount of editing. I'm in the process of downloading the entire 1st anime series and will be editing the script once I've worked my way through the multitude of episodes and am familiar with the series. I've also inserted the script and fit it all in with some text compression I added. I've also been able to figure out the whole graphic format of the title screen and will be hacking a new design in once I get it. All that's left is to insert the ending, which I need to get to before I can hack it. Here's a screenshot of a WIP with unedited and unformatted text.

A release is still months away though.

I have trouble with keeping a consistent nick for different forums, but I've done a lot of translations, mostly NES, and eventually I plan on giving the PCE some love. Unlike most translation hackers, I am/was a PCE nut and purchased a MIB Turbo Duo and a used PCFX, which I sold here years ago with somewhat shameful behavior. I already have a PCE project in the preliminary stages and I'll probably invest some time on it once I clear my plate a bit which is somewhat full at the moment.

Also, I think most translators/hackers do this for their own enjoyment, I personally treat my translations as a puzzle that needs to be solved, and to improve/maintain their language skills.
#14
In my experience it is best if the money is split between all major members of a translation and some form of compensation to everyone else who lent a hand. Really, that's the only fair way to go about it. $150 split between a few members isn't really much when you break it down. So that said, it is best that money takes a back seat until a translation is finished because really the goal of fan translators should be to produce a professional quality translation and that takes time, months to years. The amount of work that would have gone into a project cannot be covered by a few hundred bucks, unless you don't value the amount of work that goes into a translation, and it should be treated as a bonus for finishing a translation.
#15
Gley Lancer? I never actually beat it, but I did get to like the last boss and I do recall a pretty good story with some branches along the way.
#16
I still got these Saturn games lying around and I think my prices are pretty darn good. A few sold and now a few are left.
#17
That title screen looks pretty good and "PRESS RUN BUTTON" is what I'd go for. Zeroigar looks pretty good, but Chousin Heihi sounds like mumbo jumbo to me since I don't know a lick of Japanese. When I google the game, it seems most every site on the web refers to it as Super God Trooper Zeroigar. If that title's too clunky, you could always just remove it and go with a bigger Zeroigar logo.
#18
I'm a bit hazy on the prices, but give or take a few dollars, they all should be fair. All in good shape, with manuals, paperwork etc.

It's very easy to distract ol' EK. He just loves to poke and prod at just about every game he can get his hands on.

General Gaming / Re: Famicom
01/04/2012, 08:00 PM
The game was either loosely inspired or more likely made as a tie-in to a Japanese movie called Zipangu. The game 7 Blades for the PS2 is basically another game in the same universe and sounds like a sequel to Zipangu. I'm working on a article on the game for HG101 that should be up in the next few updates.
#22
That title screen ain't bad at all. Fitting all the data back into the game probably wouldn't be an issue, but I guess there are what you'd call tile limitations in how many unique 8x8 tiles the game can use at a time.
#23
I think the title screen should be in English, but just not the PSP version. Can't you find someone to design you a new version? I'd personally go with Dracula X for the red and Rondo of Blood beneath.
#24
All these games are RPG's or contain elements of one except for the Gundam game and 3x3 Eyes I think.

I got a few PCE games lying around I figure I might as well try to sell them. Not looking to get too much for them. All are complete, good shape, spine card etc.
#29
Still got a few games left for anyone who might be interested.
#31
Eden 2 has some chart and misc paperwork with the spine card. Everything's in beautiful condition and same goes for Spriggan which has a spine card etc. No spine card for Xanadu 1, but it's got everything else like a poster. It's a no for the rest.

I should start putting everything on Friday night or sometime Saturday starting with my non-imports. As for the imports, I think I might only put Star Ocean up for auction because there doesn't appear to be much of a demand for any other import.
#34
Oh, I'm in the US. International shipping is no problem for me as I've done it plenty of times.

Hi all,

I am going to be selling off my video collection on Ebay starting this weekend and I'm looking to save myself some money in fees and looking for people interested in games that won't sell for nothing much. I have a spreadsheet of everything with some prices, but they are not asking prices. Rather they are an mid-level estimate of what I could expect to get for the games. Everything is complete and about 95% of my games are in excellent shape. I can share pictures and details with those interested.

Hi all,

I'm in the process of liquidating my video game collection and I have several PC Engine games.

Far East of Eden 2 Spine, chart and mint condition
Cosmic Fantasy 3
Emerald Dragon
Far East of Eden Kabuki Den Spine, poster and mint condition
Shin Onryu Senki
Far East of Eden Ziria
Ys 4
Red Alert
Efera & Jillora
Burai 2
The Legend of Xanadu
Startling Odyssey 2 Spine, chart and mint condition
Xak 1 & 2
Star Breaker
Spriggan Mark 2 Spine  and mint condition
Xak 3
The Legend of Xanadu 2
Tenshi no Uta
Burai
Tennokoe Bank

All games are complete and about ~90% of them are in excellent to mint shape. I can supply pictures and any other details, so don't hesitate to ask.
#37
I've got a bunch of PC Engine imports that I don't really need. I don't have a set price for them, so if you make me a reasonable offer, they can be yours. All my imports are original and are complete, I've got pictures if anyone wants to see.

Burai
Burai 2
Tenshi no Uta
Legend of Xanadu
Cosmic Fantasy 3
Record of Lodoss War
Record of Lodoss War 2
Shin Spirit Legend
Red Alert
Xak 1 & 2
Tennokoe Bank
Shin Megami Tensei (The back of the case has been replaced by the front of the Street fighter case)

I'm less willing to part with these games, but they are an option I have. The one thing these games have in common is that there are translation projects for them, except the scripts haven't been completely translated yet.

Spriggan Mark 2
Startling Odyssey 2
Star Breaker

I'm looking to avoid Ebay with these games as those fees can add up. If anyone's interested in these games, please let me know.

Thank you.

I got a little over zealous with that and it won't happen again. I suppose I'll stick around, I've got a bunch of PC Engine games that I could do without. I would like to avoid the Ebay route as those fees really add up.

Buy/Sell/Trade / Re: PC-FX System for Sale

I must admit that I don't really know anything about this community, I was recommended here by someone else to find someone interested in my Turbo Duo.

Now, I believe I've dealt with George outside of Ebay exclusively, but it was through Ebay that I first contacted him. And I honestly don't remember how much I payed for the system. I paid George with a money order and I always throw away those receipts. That's the truth and I must admit that the way I handled the situation at first wasn't very good, but I tried to rectify it. Although it was done so privately. I apologized to the second person for the way I behaved and I offered it to him for the price I originally mentioned and things were all set to go, but a personal issue prevented him from having the money to pay for the system. It was then that he suggested that I put the system on Ebay and I have followed his advice.

One of my ways of making money (I've worked very little) when I need it is to sell part of my video game collection and I've been doing that for the past few years. I've got a bunch of stuff lying around that I'm willing to sell even for a loss. For example, I sold my Turbo Duo for $375 minus shipping and I paid $400 for it and I'm willing to sell Lunar under $200 when I paid over $200 for it. I don't mind selling for a loss because if I sell a lot of stuff, the money will add up. Hell, I even sold my Stratocaster, which I paid around $500-600 for 4-5 years ago, for a lousy $125. My point is that I'm very willing to sell my stuff to anyone and I'd be willing to give them a deal in the process.

I might aslo mention that I'm prone to saying dumb things on the internet and I might've done it again in this post, but hopefully not.

So he's known around here, well technically speaking, I don't remember exactly how much he sold it to me for. But my reason for selling it is noble in my mind as I need money to pay for my college expenses. Anyway, it's going up on Ebay on the weekend. The people who were interested in it, now won't be getting it.

Buy/Sell/Trade / Re: PC-FX System for Sale
09/03/2008, 08:12 AM
Here's the deal, two people want it so the highest bidder gets it. It's just a question of who wants to pay more. Also, one thing to mention. I thought I had all the hookups, but I was wrong. It needs that red, yellow and blue one because I can't find mine. And I'm sure the system works as I bought it from an American in Japan who sold PC Engine stuff on the side. One George Plamontouros probably tested it before he sent it to me.

Buy/Sell/Trade / PC-FX System for Sale
09/02/2008, 01:55 PM
I've got a PC-FX that I could do without. It only comes with the necessary hookups and one controller. The system itself works, but I don't have game to test it with. The system also is victim of discoloration. Half is normal and the other half is discolored.

I think I paid like $60 (somewheres around that price would do) for it and anyone interested in it?

Oh, I just posted this in the wrong section. Could the mods this this to its place for me? Thank you.
#44
I've revised my auction again. Hopefully I've corrected a few of those issues.
#45
Yeah, I know here it is

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=220275702957&ssPageName=STRK:MESE:IT&ih=012

Just a note, Victor Ireland is selling these on Ebay and has been doing so for the past few years. I've used the same auction title that he uses for them because it's virtually the same thing, but with a lower price. I think he wants like 230-240 for them.
#47
Ah, the price. Well, I don't have a particular price set, but it has to be more than $600 because that's what I owe.
#48
Currently up on Ebay. Bought it from Victor Ireland himself and have never opened it in the time I've owned it. I'm actually losing money on this one, but I'd sell it for somewheres around $200.
#49
Pictures are here

Comes with four games: Devil's Crush, Exile, Tenshi no Uta and Burai.
Comes with everything it came with new and all in beautiful condition besides the box which has some minor damage. So I'm calling it new because I've hardly touched since the time I've owned. It's got this label on it that put on by some store years and it says "Brand New Turbo Duo" dated August 2000. I bought this on Ebay a few years ago from some guy and I'm pretty sure he didn't really play it all besides test it of course and I haven't really touched, so I say that it is pretty much new. The reason whay I want to sell it is because I bought a PS3 (I just had to play MGS4 and it was worth it) with my credit card and now I need some money to pay it off.

And I might as well mention that it's currently for sale on Ebay...
