10/31/2023: Localization News - Dead of the Brain 1!

No, NOT a trick, a Halloween treat! Presenting the Dead of the Brain 1 English patch by David Shadoff for the DEAD last official PC Engine CD game published by NEC before exiting the console biz in 1999! I helped edit/betatest and it's also a game I actually finished in 2023, yaaay! Shubibiman also did a French localization. github.com/dshadoff/DeadoftheBrain

Quote from: Sinistron on 04/09/2009, 03:42 PMJust for the record- even if these two guys aren't nin- though it's definitely his m.o. to create two recent accounts and have a conversation with himself to pretend it's two separate people- he's done it before with YT accounts- but if these guys aren't him- I'm sure that at least a HANDFUL of recent accounts are- just judging by the influx and the account names alone.  You didn't think this guy would just go away, did ya's?  You'll be dealing with dozens of simultaneous Nintega accounts before you know it.  "Bacteria" indeed.  What other troll would name himself Bacteria and just sit there hovering over shoutbox before logging off and creating another account one minute later- then another- ad infinitum?

Wait- let's just... ignore him...
Hm...not sure if you're reffering to me...but it's the first time i'm here...
really sorry if i sound like some kind of troll...
i guess i should get back in my corner and shhh...will play my violin :-({|=

xaxaxa it is obvious you don't really understand greek...what you wrote is something like
"Is there at least any meaning from the speaking fishes, we don't really understand greek" :p

ok, couldnt wait for any answers since i found some spare time to open it.

First I opened the scart, one cable, the 5volt one was cut. Soldered it back in place, but still got the dark image.
Opened the console, checked all connections, everything seems to be ok.

Did some search....the mod on the console is actually the mod described here
http://www.mmmonkey.co.uk/console/pce/rgb.htm
the one at the extension pins.

I read about darker image being a common problem with this mod and the solution being the use of three transistors...
i'll try finding the transistors tomorrow and will add them tothe scart cable to check if the problem will be solved

feel free to throw in any ideas

So a couple of days ago i received my third nec console...a white japanese pc engine.
Today I found some spare time to test it and have some problems...

sorry if all these are already answered somewhere, but I searched the forum for a bit and I couldnt find something ...since i'm new with it's kind of confusing with all the different names and version mentioned everywhere :P

So, the console has a scart cable coming out of it, i guess its an rgb mod, since i know it only had the rf built in.
Tried the scart on my tv, in rgb mode and plain scart mod....but i'm getting a black image. I can see some sprites of the game, but no colors and no brightness...

Seems like a bad/loose connection or soldering somewhere in the cable.
But before i open it to check the connections I wanted to read some things about the mod, can you guys gimme a couple of links with rgb mods for the pc engine, so i can find the problem easier?

Also, when I tried the rf, I got quite a nice picture, with bright colors and all, but didnt get any sound.
Did the white pc engine had capacitor problems? Should I get into changing them or is there any other known problem with sound that I should check first?

Last, but not least...the pce came with a british sega power adaptor. I guess it is compatible? Can I use any sega adaptor or do it need to have certain specs? The british one that came with the pce is 10v and 1,5 A... the european one I have is 10v but only 0,5 A...will it work correctly or it doesnt have sufficient amber to power the pce ?

thanks in advance :p
