Any thoughts on this? It would really help to know if this is a re-cap issue or if there is a simple solution we are overlooking. Since I sold the RX in good faith thinking it was fully working, I plan to pay (or at least help pay) for the repair (and we don't live in the same city).

Thanks!

Hey guys, I recently sold a Duo RX that I thought was in working condition, but the buyer (who I trust) says there is audio when playing CD games but not HuCards. I could have sworn both were fine, so I'm hoping there is some simple solution we're missing here...

Aren't RX's known for not needing recaps? Have tried multiple games and slot is clean. Thanks for any advice!

Thanks for the reply. Yes, I was looking at the $400ish one. This will sound crazy, but I already own a Duo-RX and PCE GT Japanese consoles. I am looking to change up my collection which is primarily Japanese consoles over to American. I realize I can mod the RX, but right now it's more of a nostalgia thing - I would rather have the American console.

That being said, I am open to trading both the Duo RX (with original 6-button controller) and the PC Engine GT for an American Duo. I assume that is a reasonable trade since the American console goes for quite a bit more.

If anyone is interested, let me know and I can send pics. I am planning to region mod the Duo, so if that's already done, even better.

Hey everyone - I am looking to purchase a VG/EXC condition Turbo Duo with original controller and hookups. I have my eye on one on eBay, but not sure if the price is reasonable. Can someone please tell me what a fair going price is right now?

Also, if anyone has one for sale (preferably already region modded) please let me know. I like to avoid eBay whenever possible.

Cheers!

Edit: Acquired Duo. Feel free to delete. Thanks!

If anyone is interested in working out any kind of trade for some combo of the systems I mentioned above for a Turbo Duo and Turbo Express, please let me know. I could probably do the Duo-RX, the PCE GT, plus one of my other JP consoles. Could throw in some games too...

Gotcha thank you for the feedback. I honestly thought they were about equal but looking on eBay I see that isn't the case. I'll have to re-evaluate... If anyone wants to make an offer though I am still open to suggestions.

I do have a white PCE with Super CD-ROM I could throw in. Have some other JP consoles also if anyone is more interested (Dreamcast, Saturn, MD2 and Mega CD2, Master System, Famicom [old with disk system, or new version], SFC...) to name a few. I also have a Halo-green original Xbox with Xecuter mod chip, X3 LCD mod and two green wireless controllers if anyone is into that...

I am planning to trim down my collection and could just sell all of the above on eBay and purchase the Duo with plenty to spare, but thought I'd see if I could make a fellow enthusiast here happy before resorting to eBay.

Okay, some of you will think I'm insane, and yes I am aware I can region mod my Japanese consoles, but since acquiring them (they are both in excellent cosmetic and working condition and I will share pics if there is interest), I have craved the nostalgia of owning the American versions of these consoles. I plan to region mod the American consoles, so if yours is already modded, all the better.

Again, I am looking to trade one PC Engine Duo RX with 6-button control and hookups plus a PC Engine GT for a Turbo Duo with 6-button controller and hookups and a Turbo Express. Must also be in excellent cosmetic/working condition.

Please PM me if interested and we can talk details!

Hey everyone, I just purchased a Duo-RX console that unfortunately didn't come with the original white 6-button control pad. Would like to buy a used one, don't especially care about the box. In fact, would prefer to buy it loose to keep the price down.

Please reply or PM if you have one for sale!
Model # is PCE-TP1 (Arcade Pad 6) white with blue buttons to match the console.

Buy/Sell/Trade / Re: WTB: Duo R or RX
02/25/2012, 09:42 PM
Possibly reaching a deal with someone on a Duo-R, but would love to know if someone has an RX out there looking for a home... There's a CIB RX on eBay right now for a ridiculously high price ($400 plus huge overseas shipping fee) and I'm STILL tempted just for that gorgeous RX logo and button lol...

Quote from: HercTNT on 02/12/2012, 12:20 AMNo need to be sorry. I cant speak for ebay, i can only speak for the people here. Price isnt everything, its quality that matters as well. I have had Thesteve do work for me and i can vouch for

him. I guarentee you though that blueBmw and keith courage are also highly respected and very good choices. If it were my dollar i would trust the people here. thats my two cents :)
Gotcha thanks for the input. I will definitely use someone here! Like I was saying in that last reply, it would be nice to be able to say I fixed her myself, but looking at how many caps there are, this looks like a job for... Well, anyone but me. Maybe someday if I feel adventurous, I'll buy another junk unit to play around with...

Haha, nevermind... Now that I'm in the right forums and have seen the cap diagram with all the replacements involved, I think I'll leave this one to a "pro." Kinda wish I could "apprentice" with one of them though. ;) I'm a wannabe fix-it dude.

Blue (or anybody willing to fix me up) let me know what the cost is and where to send this puppy and I'll put her in the mail Monday. Thanks!

Hey thanks and sorry if I posted in the wrong spot. :)

I PM'd BlueBMW, just waiting to hear back. Also saw there is a guy "Turbografxfan" on eBay who offers a repair service for around $50. Do you know if that's comparable to what these guys charge?

Honestly, I don't care who fixes it, so long as it gets fixed. I'm fairly comfortable soldering, and it would be nice to be able to say "I fixed it myself," I just don't know which caps typically crap out, etc.

Hey everyone! Long-time lurker, new member, rabidly trying to amass a collection with some bonus money I got this year. Unfortunately, a CD-ROM2 I bought off eBay listed as Like New is not working. The seller was kind enough to refund $54.99 out of the $99.99 I spent for it, but I would love to get it working.

I've put out some feelers via PM to people who seem to know about these things, but figured I might as well make a thread. When I attempt to play a game, I get the red PC indicator and the Just a Moment screen, but no humming or noise whatsoever, and the disc does not spin. I opened it up and the middle gear is in perfect shape, no missing teeth whatsoever. Took a short (and probably useless) video of the inside here:
Any suggestions? I really want to either get this working or trade it to someone who fixes them (plus some cash) for a working one. I'm comfortable with basic soldering so if it's just changing a cap or something, I can probably manage. Just don't know where to start.

Thanks!!

Just saw Samurai Ghost's amazing thread and sent a PM. Why oh why didn't I come here before eBay in the first place!?!? /facepalm

Buy/Sell/Trade / WTB Working CD-ROM2 Unit
02/11/2012, 08:08 PM
I just bought a CD-ROM2 on eBay that was listed as "Like New" and doesn't work. Opened it up and the middle gear is completely fine. The red PC indicator comes on and I get the Just a Moment screen, but no humming or noise whatsoever, and disc doesn't spin.

Anyway, I'm looking to either buy a working unit outright, or trade my cosmetically beautiful (but not working) unit plus some cash for a working one.

Willing to buy the CD-ROM2 with or without the IFU since mine is pretty ratty anyway...

Thanks!
