I am trying to revive a Duo that does not spin or play CD's I replaced the caps and swapped the complete cd unit into a duo-r and it worked perfectly. When I was hunting around on the board I noticed that the pot on Vr102 was super loose and would spin all the way around with just a touch of the finger. Does any one know if I can replace the pots with the plastic type from the DUO-R and if so do you by chance know the part number from Digi-key or mouser so I could order some I have never really messed with pots and most component parts shops are not the most user friendly
Thanks for any assistance

Looking to trade only some games, Arcade card pro and a PACHINKO controller that came with a Duo-R I purchased. I all ready have a pro card and I mostly only play Shmups so I'd rather these go to someone who's looking to play these then just lay around my house. I'm really only looking for  cover US cover art/manual for Ys1&2 also part 3 Shmups for the PC-engine,Saturn or dreamcast but I'm also looking for 2 RGB amps  Arcade card Duo (for no real reason)and maybe some official PC-engine/duo power supply's
Thanks for looking

There would be no need this just amplifies the signal for rgb monitors or scalers s it's all in what type of display you want to use,  so its either or

Quote from: Keith Courage on 09/08/2014, 02:24 PMThe best thing to do is drill a hole where the post once was and then put a screw in from the underside of the system. There are already holes there underneath so the screw will never be seen. No worry of it ever breaking again since it isn't plastic.
Yeah I will do that if they break again, but I picked up some of those Evergreen posts locally and they work perfectly thanks Valkyrie. Also the cd system works not sure if it did before or not as as soon as I received it I opened it up to check things out.

Quote from: Valkyrie on 09/06/2014, 08:15 PMGo to a hobby store and get yourself some Evergreen brand styrene rods.  Their 0.10" diameter rods are almost the exact right size.  Then drill out the center of the stump they broke off of a bit, so the rod fits neatly inside.  Use a drill bit about the same size as the rod.  Glue rods in place with model cement or super glue.
Easy. :)
Sweet thanks for the tip are you talking about this

Quote from: thesteve on 09/06/2014, 06:05 PMI have used tooth picks as replacement posts
Good idea!
Also was it the cause of the disk not being able to read properly?
I was just wondering how sinstive the drive was
#17
Hello all, I just purchased a Duo-R with a nonfunctional CD drive. When I opened it up I noticed that two of the three posts were broken I suspect that someone dropped the system. The one on the far right is completely broken at the pestle the other rear one on the left has about a quarter of an inch left attached.I still have the remanence of both broken posts

Would this definitely cause the cd drive to not function or is in likely something else?
either way I'm trying to brainstorm ways to fix the posts. I'm thinking about using some small screws long enough to sub in for the missing post or some how drilling a tiny hole and place a thin wire in the damage posts and through the pestle to reinforce then glue them to the pestles as I doubt glue alone would be strong enough.

anyone have any other ideas?

Thanks jtucci31 you went above and beyond for the community. I received mine yesterday, no time to mess with it yet. I did play the rom that was already loaded the card with my GT. was the rom loaded on there by you or kriz? I'm not sure where it came form or what its for but I believe there is anime girl with boobies showing (i think small screen) if you click the right buttons 8-[

It has to a joke not a very good one though

I read that there are people currently working on one for the PCE-CD and the Saturn. I believe the guys are from Eastern Europe/Russian. Have you read about the recent mods to the Dreamcast a PCB board that adds a usb drive to the back of the system and emulates the cd-drive.
#22
The picture is not of my system its from someone on the forum. Is there a non-smd transistor that is equivalent that I could try?
thanks for the assistance
#23
When I was doing a cap replacement the front little leg of the transistor where this guy soldered his missing trace to broke off could some tell me the value all I can make out is the code BA

Quote from: thesteve on 08/09/2014, 04:27 PMYes it's missing some material
It will work fine that way
so was the coil up right like you see on most motherboards or laying down or does it matter?
also if I did replace it what should I replace it with? (just asking because it shot across the room out of my tension grip tweezers after the photo.

Thanks so much for your assistance thesteve

Hello all, I'm doing a Cap replacement on GT.When I went opened it up the white gunk in the upper left corner of the GT motherboard where the two 100/16v caps are located was partly hanging off the board I found the coil after picking all the white stuff off, but i'm unsure of its orientated on the board and how it attaches. I would probably like to replace it instead of reinstalling as it looks like part of the plastic is missing. I would appreciate any info IMG

Yeah  Surugaya-a-too only ship EMS thats why its expensive but its fast as hell about 2-3 days to east coast and you have to sign all kinds of documents and print out your address and stuff when the mailman delivers it
Also you have a week after they send you your total to decide purchase or not You do have to pay with credit card up front but they don't charge till after you email them back agreeing to purchase keep in mind this may only be with  Surugaya-a-too seller not sure about others  they seem to have the majority of games  though

Are you looking just the Cd-Rom2 or one with a IFU
#37
Cool stuff Fidde_se I appreciate the time you took checking it out. :)

I wonder if you have an unmodded white PCE if it would play CD Music through RF. It would be pretty shitty if your TV only had RF out like a lot of mid to low range crt models had in the early 90's at least here in the states.

It cool you can found something thats not common knowledge about Core Series. I like many others thought the only difference form the Core Series and the Original Whitey was RF was replaced with AV out.

IMG

Bad picture but it worked out well it was a snug fit, I had add some distance between where the AV jack attached to mini pcb  but it worked out well luckily my CRT signal doesn't need to be amplified so that was one less headache.

I just connected the left and right audio channel to the back of the plug ports on IFU and connected the RGB lines as normal now I can get an RGB signal from the PCE loose by plugging it directly into the system  or in the IFU where I get the sound mixed with the CD music
#39
Yeah I just found a mini 8 pin din port that I'm going to wire next to the power plug on the IFU and I'll just pull the already mixed sound from the ports there

I'll set it up so I can plug the scart cable in the IFU if the PCE is docked and can use the same cable to plug directly into the system if its loose
#40
That is interesting is there any way to reroute mixed sound back into an original PCE?
#41
Hello all sorry if there is a thread somewhere with the answer to this question if it is so feel free to direct me there

The issue is I have an already RGB modded White PCE and I just picked up a IFU and CD.rom2 but I am not getting CD music I only get the sound effects from the CD game and some super light muffled music The only way for me to get all audio is through headphones connected to the IFU directly thru the A/V ports with that everything sounds perfect.

My question is do I have to add another 8-din port on the IFU or is possible to link the left and right channel back to the expansion so I can get CD sound through the port I already have on the PCE

All sound is working properly through the mini 8 pin on the system with (hcards) except for CD music

Buy/Sell/Trade / WTT: Mystic Formula
04/17/2013, 10:03 PM
I'm looking to trade a copy of Mystic Formula for a CD based shmup I'm just starting my collection so I'm not limited on titles I'm looking for I do have a few on order though. I'm fairly new here so if someone with a good rep want me to ship first I'm cool with it but I have good references on other forums SRK and Famicom World

Also what's the going rate for Mystic Formula Japan Stock had it listed for $75 but I know there markup usually crazy high.

I will post some picture if anyone actually interested in a trade its in decent shape but no spine card

Sounds like a plan I'll shoot you a pm now
