Tennokoe 2 units are still cheap, it's pretty much required kit and they ALWAYS are handy. I have two.

Ave. 6 came in today. Great shape and fast ship.

hashiriya1, I'll watch for your threads but contact me immediately if you get another Ave. 6 in at the price you just sold it to me for. And next time I may be able to get a 5-tap as well as another controller.

Highly satisfied.
#3
Duo_R are you selling amps? I'll buy one of yours if you are, otherwise I'll build one.

Quote from: Duo_R on 07/19/2013, 07:20 PMThat is simple but not the best option.

the ths7314 amps are one of the setups that is simple and has good feedback good. I personally have done the NJM amps.

What do you guys think about this one. Please tell me it's kosher I just geared up to make a bunch of them (not a biggy the 47uf caps will come in handy for SNES/NES/N64 carts when they need to be recapped down the line):

Quote from: MrFlutterPie on 05/10/2013, 11:46 AMI would love to region mod my system but I live in Canada.  Shipping is really expensive to send and to receive.  I would be also nervous about shipping my console because of damage or loss.  My console has already been modded to S-Video so I can't easily replace that.
Converters are the way to go. If you ever decide to get a flash card it plays hell with region modded consoles.
#8
This is one of my favorite games on the system (the only way I play it is through emulator). Please add my name to the raffle.
#9
I would love to add this to my collection even if it's loose. Count me in.

Quote from: Mishran on 04/26/2013, 07:51 AMPower Supplies with -5V are becoming a rare breed. These two weren't a recent purchase. That $.50 350W survived 2 years in an old PC tower that the motherboard finally took a crap in. Yet die after 45 minutes of play on an MK V? Just seems strange to me.
Just get a Negatron, guys.

Luke Morse talks these up:

I know this is for complete systems but do you have a stripped briefcase with cover? I'd be coming back around later to get a CD drive off you in a few months. I have a PCE and 3.0 card, I just for now want to nail down getting the IFU-30.
#12
I have a few Duo controllers, so what kind of discount would I get if I told you to ship without one?

Quote from: NightWolve on 10/26/2012, 02:36 AMAre there good images that demonstrate this "jailbar" effect ? I still don't know what it refers to...
Look into the NES-2. It's a classic example of out-of-the-box jailbars.

Quote from: SignOfZeta on 02/15/2013, 01:31 AMI know that fancy new stuff is coming out every day, and I sure haven't seen every system on every display with every upscaler but...I'm pretty sure most of the HDTV guys haven't seen the best SD has to offer either. From my experience, SD stuff really does look best in SD.

I know there are guys that are totally happy with their giant ass overly sharp zero dot pitch million candle power billboards, but I've never seen one that looks as good as, say, a 17" PVM bought off Craigslist for $50. The stuff is just not supposed to be that huge, and it's definitely supposed to have scanlines.
>in a thread about RGB
>derides 'overly sharp pixels'

My sides.

Apolloboy are you taking commissions?
#15
My 20 inch Sharp EDTV displays some of the nicest s-video I've ever seen (coming off my SNES using Yoshis Island as a benchmar over a Monster cable).  And the component is darn good too.

Y'all do know there are hidden menus in these monitors where you can fine tune the panels,  right?

Edit: i may go full bore and get a CSY-121 to do the conversion to component.  Instead of the cheaper box.
#16
Quote from: King_Vidiot on 02/14/2013, 08:30 PMno use going through the trouble of rgb modding if you're just going to ruin it by hooking it up to a flatscreen or downgrading it to component
I would contest that notion. Component is nearly as good as RGB and I'm hooking it up to a 4:3 sharp panel. So no improper aspect ratio. It's pretty much the best I'll get and RGB modding future proofs the video for if/when I do get a monitor/panel that lets me do pure RGB input.

Naturally, you have to use scart cables for everything, but it's still nice.
I'm with the OP, that's way too expensive for what it is. Here's a cheaper solution: http://tinyurl.com/c3khrhr
I just found that a few hours ago. As soon as I can get a quote for the work and work out the details I'll pull the trigger on the mod and the box.

ApolloBoy, don't you do RGB mods?

Edit:

I'll have to break out stereo audio to a 3.5mm TRS I see.

I live in the US, so thats outrageously priced after currency conversion.

*Sigh*

Okay I have to think about that because It'd be used for multiple systems so it may end up being worth it.

1. Whos doing the mods? I need a Tennekoe 2 and eventually a IFU-30 modded.

3. With the last question, Can I get away with using RCAs or should I do SCART?

The Kato and Ken episode is one of my favorites and makes me want to pick up a CIB copy of the game.
#21
I'm in a similar boat, Keith.

I can either get gamesforyous card and/or the naked TED.

or

Toilet Kids, Pastel Lime and Kato & Ken for about the same price CIB.

I have a decent collection of worthy PCE games right now. Even with my cheap UFO Pro 8 on my SNES, I can play all but 30 games on the SNES. I can play patched ROMS, homebrew (after padding/fiddle F-ing with the ROMS), and unreleased titles. Clocktower complete might be one of the only games I'd buy after getting this cart, and even then it's not enough to spend $40 on a display piece.

Honestly I see no need to expand my collections much further unless I want to display games. That said, if a CIB Splatterhouse/K&K goes on sale for the right price (see: below $20 for SH/$10 for K&K), I'll buy it.

Magical Chase is over-rated. It's yet another shooter, and a girly one at that. Just get both flash cards. One for general use, and GFUs card for SGX/natural play (since the TED won't fit in the SGX) where the game snaps on with no menus. They're both affordable enough (not like SD2SNES or ED64) to get.
#22
Sure, why not.

Edit:

Related topic, I plan on raffling off my loose extra hu cards soon as a way to say thanks to the site that allowed me to easily and more affordably get into NEC hardware.
#23
$30 is about what I see these days. Your best bet is to just get a Tennokoe 2 and get it modded (like I want to) for any connection you want.

Quote from: Keith Courage on 01/15/2013, 01:30 PMI prefer S-video myself since I still like to do all of my gaming on a CRT TV. I hate playing games on a flat screen. I can't stand seeing the picture all streched out or a square in the center with black all around it. So for those of us who prefer CRT gaming S-video is still a great option.
You do know that modern LCDs allow you to set aspect ratio of the inputs, right?
#27
Half my collection comes from blasting through ROMS, that and loose HUcard lots. Without ROM blasting, I wouldn't have bought Doraemon, and without lots i wouldn't have even thought about trying World Court Pro.

One thing I learned about the PCE is theres a lot of fantastic sub-$20 shipped games out there that are really unsung.
#28
Yeah so i actually gave Download a spin and holy shit,,  a game that curses as much as i do. And its in English unlike many of the games i own. And it's not half bad at all.

If i find it for the right price ill pick it up. Until then, wanna get that dev card thing thats sold here.
#29
Quote from: Keith Courage on 01/07/2013, 12:51 AMAll of them...Duh
I may end up getting that cheap single shot flash card whats his name here designed and is selling. Who needs SDcards anyway? The two games its incompatible with I already own (populous and SF2).

But seriously, the number of medicore to shitty shooters on this console is staggering.
#30
I have most or all those games in my ROM set on my phone (better than a PCE-E, can play rare games on a whim).

I actually did try out Darius Alpha emulated and I don't get the reason why people like this game. The lasers were all dropping down to the bottom of the screen like they had erectile dysfunction or something. I could get Darius Plus and have the whole game since Alpha is just a boss run.

I'll probably get Parodis Da!, R-Type and Download.
#31
Well this place has them: IMG

they were kind enough to put the sticker on the BACK of the case.

You selling any of those games you got?
#32
See title. And please don't respond with Darius Alpha or Toilet Kids as the latter is a neat novelty but not worth $45 it costs on eBay and the former is just priced stupid high.

Like pick one or two because I have Heavy Unit and it's harder than galvanized nails.
#33
- Any of the PC Gengin (PC Kid) games, though sadly I do not own one of them yet, they're basically japanese Bonk games.
- Doraemon Meikyu-daisakusen, a better take IMO on Bomberman-style games. I beat it emulated but relied heavily on save states.
- Bomberman
- World Court Pro
- Appare! Gate Ball

Apparently the store is still open: http://tentoumushi.net/home/

So what should I do to stick down the label?
#35
Yeah i need to break down and a hair dryer,  even though im going bald. The problem in this case with a hairdryer is it will also heat the label below the game store sticker. Goo Gone might have been better since the label has no chance of soaking up the liquid since both are made of similar material.

.
Hair dryers are a fantastic alternative to expensive variable heat guns for low temps on things like heat shrink.

So double sided tape is too thick.  Paint on a thin layer of some kind of glue?
#36
Got a copy of Break In that had a Japanese game stores sticker on the back of the case. I removed the sticker without seriously damaging the label, but lifted a third of the original label off. No tears or rips. How do I repair this?

I also have the same problem but to a much smaller extent with a copy of Mega Man X2 that I got on the cheap that was riddled with holographic Blockbuster stickers and has cleaned up nearly perfectly. My attempts to remove the non-holo sticker on the label resulted in the removal of the sticker and most the backing but theres slight lifting on the bottom of the label.

Here's the label: https://i.imgur.com/vNRzT.jpg
And for the curious, the sticker I stuck onto the front label for now (I kind of like this sticker actually): https://i.imgur.com/OxlBR.jpg

Thanks in advance.
#37
You wouldn't be willing to break that up would ya?

Once you get the console and controller, the system is really cheap to collect for even though my goal is to get a flash card for it.

Yeah I have a SNES and N64, and I got real tired of $15 loose  copies of Mario64, and the stupid high prices on common games like Zelda 3.

Even the sports games are fun for the system. I find myself playing World Tennis a lot of the time and genuinely enjoy it. The loose cards are real cheap too if you don't want to fork over hundreds for a flash card (I plan on buying the cheaper one avaliable, through that thread)...... Or if you happen to think SAG is a ripoff.

Once you get that controller and console (I managed to get those and a Tennokoe 2 for a reasonable price). Mishran wasn't even selling a controller in his listing and he sold me one for a reasonable price when I asked if he had one.
..
I plan on doing most my PCE shopping here. I'm so sick of eBay and jap shipping prices.

#42
I got half my games and my first PCE from here. Lots of info and cool people here.

Thanks guys for such a great board.

That is all.
#43
Sure why not, enter me too. I'll probably raffle off my loose World Court Pro once the complete copy comes in.

Yes list what you have/prices/conditions.

Quote from: Mishran on 12/07/2012, 09:22 AMSince there appears to still be interest in these on here (Thanks vxbinaca for the second order!), I'm gonna give this a bump to the top.
They came in today. Question though, is the second card spot in Populous for a Tennekoe Bank or another HU card?

Quote from: vxbinaca on 11/14/2012, 06:59 AMMishran is good people, got my first PC Engine (with Tennekoe and controller) off him.

Hopefully I'll pick up a CORE some day for a reasonable price but this is a fine for now. Gotta get this Tennekoe modded for composite/stereo/svideo/RGB at some point.
Just find yourself a nice briefcase unit and you'll be good. Plus you got yourself a much wider selection of games to choose from. My region modded Core w/ briefcase gets the brunt of my PCE gaming. Love the thing.

Also glad the system made it to ya in one piece.

Enjoy! :D
Do I need to get a Core Grafx to get a better PCE experience or should I just get a briefcase RGB modded and the white PCE will do?

Got friggin tired of eBay prices/fighting for dead units to fix.

I'm just glad I could convince you to sell me a controller, they're not cheap or easy to find. If I ever want anymore I'll have to harvest a bunch of old NES controllers and concert them for PCE use.

By the way I forgot to ask, are your games in this thread loose or cases/complete?
#49
easier than buying it off someone.

Add my name. New to here and NEC consoles.
