Tennokoe 2 units are still cheap, it's pretty much required kit and they ALWAYS are handy. I have two.

Quote from: MrFlutterPie on 05/10/2013, 11:46 AMI would love to region mod my system but I live in Canada. Shipping is really expensive to send and to receive. I would be also nervous about shipping my console because of damage or loss. My console has already been modded to S-Video so I can't easily replace that.Converters are the way to go. If you ever decide to get a flash card it plays hell with region modded consoles.
Quote from: Mishran on 04/26/2013, 07:51 AMPower Supplies with -5V are becoming a rare breed. These two weren't a recent purchase. That $.50 350W survived 2 years in an old PC tower that the motherboard finally took a crap in. Yet die after 45 minutes of play on an MK V? Just seems strange to me.Just get a Negatron, guys.
Quote from: NightWolve on 10/26/2012, 02:36 AMAre there good images that demonstrate this "jailbar" effect ? I still don't know what it refers to...Look into the NES-2. It's a classic example of out-of-the-box jailbars.
Quote from: SignOfZeta on 02/15/2013, 01:31 AMI know that fancy new stuff is coming out every day, and I sure haven't seen every system on every display with every upscaler but...I'm pretty sure most of the HDTV guys haven't seen the best SD has to offer either. From my experience, SD stuff really does look best in SD.>in a thread about RGB
I know there are guys that are totally happy with their giant ass overly sharp zero dot pitch million candle power billboards, but I've never seen one that looks as good as, say, a 17" PVM bought off Craigslist for $50. The stuff is just not supposed to be that huge, and it's definitely supposed to have scanlines.
Quote from: King_Vidiot on 02/14/2013, 08:30 PMno use going through the trouble of rgb modding if you're just going to ruin it by hooking it up to a flatscreen or downgrading it to componentI would contest that notion. Component is nearly as good as RGB and I'm hooking it up to a 4:3 sharp panel. So no improper aspect ratio. It's pretty much the best I'll get and RGB modding future proofs the video for if/when I do get a monitor/panel that lets me do pure RGB input.
Quote from: ApolloBoy on 02/14/2013, 12:38 AMI just found that a few hours ago. As soon as I can get a quote for the work and work out the details I'll pull the trigger on the mod and the box.Quote from: SamIAm on 02/13/2013, 08:22 PMAssuming you're not talking about digital component video, this works very well:I'm with the OP, that's way too expensive for what it is. Here's a cheaper solution: http://tinyurl.com/c3khrhr

Naturally, you have to use scart cables for everything, but it's still nice.
Quote from: SamIAm on 02/13/2013, 08:22 PMI live in the US, so thats outrageously priced after currency conversion.Quote from: vxbinaca on 02/13/2013, 03:03 PM2. I want to plan this right. There are no new TVs made today with S-Video, this leaves out an analog fallback. So I'll need to do boosted RGB -> Component w/ Stereo audio. Who sells the boxes that do that with some sort of stereo audio option?Assuming you're not talking about digital component video, this works very well:

Quote from: Keith Courage on 01/15/2013, 01:30 PMI prefer S-video myself since I still like to do all of my gaming on a CRT TV. I hate playing games on a flat screen. I can't stand seeing the picture all streched out or a square in the center with black all around it. So for those of us who prefer CRT gaming S-video is still a great option. You do know that modern LCDs allow you to set aspect ratio of the inputs, right?
Quote from: Keith Courage on 01/07/2013, 12:51 AMAll of them...DuhI may end up getting that cheap single shot flash card whats his name here designed and is selling. Who needs SDcards anyway? The two games its incompatible with I already own (populous and SF2).
Quote from: Mishran on 12/07/2012, 09:22 AMSince there appears to still be interest in these on here (Thanks vxbinaca for the second order!), I'm gonna give this a bump to the top. They came in today. Question though, is the second card spot in Populous for a Tennekoe Bank or another HU card?
Quote from: Mishran on 11/16/2012, 12:21 PMDo I need to get a Core Grafx to get a better PCE experience or should I just get a briefcase RGB modded and the white PCE will do?Quote from: vxbinaca on 11/14/2012, 06:59 AMMishran is good people, got my first PC Engine (with Tennekoe and controller) off him.Just find yourself a nice briefcase unit and you'll be good. Plus you got yourself a much wider selection of games to choose from. My region modded Core w/ briefcase gets the brunt of my PCE gaming. Love the thing.
Hopefully I'll pick up a CORE some day for a reasonable price but this is a fine for now. Gotta get this Tennekoe modded for composite/stereo/svideo/RGB at some point.
Also glad the system made it to ya in one piece.
Enjoy!
