Hi all. I've been on the hunt for xenoblade chronicles and am appalled by the ebay and amazon prices. If anyone has a copy for sale or knows where I can pick one up, please let me know!

Ran across this on the internets...
It is a cool concept, but not sure how it would play if real.  It would certainly have a fair amount of difficulty.

Hey guys, just wanted to see if anyone had a replacement laser unit for the TG16 CD unit laying around that they no longer needed.  The place I bought my last one from more than doubled their price and I can probably find a working CD unit for that price ($50!).

It's called Shmusicup and looks like a good idea.  They have an interview with the creators over at Silicon Era.  I hope they release a better video, because this looks like a great idea, but could be implemented horribly.  Would make a nice DLC for Xbox/PS3.  It'll make me break out some 140bpm techno  :P

Anyone know where to buy a Japanese 360 for a decent price?  I mean, we sell a 4GB model in the US for $200, so is there an equivalent model in Japan?

I checked play-asia, yesasia, ncsx, japanvideogames....  all of them have the 250GB model and are $380 and up.  I just want a cheap, run of the mill xbox to play some of the imports I have and plan to purchase.

Right now I have an old 360 that I fixed (RROD, can you believe it?) and I JTAGd.  I highly doubt it will last all too long, since once they red ring, its just a matter of time before it happens again (has been goinng strong for about 20 hours of playtime over the last few months).  Plus I would love to have access of the Japanese xbox store.  I know you can on the US console, but would like to keep the J stuff on the J console and the U stuff on the U console.

So, anyone know where I can get a new J-360 for under $250 (with HDMI)?  I may ask over at rising stuff, but would prefer not to bother them with something they dont normally stock in their store.

So, after missing the dead line for the prosperity pack by a couple weeks, I pre-ordered my JP copy of Pier Solar.  That was around October of '08.  Month after month I checked the site for an update and it felt like I was getting dragged along for a ride.  Hell, I was even thinking about selling my pre-orders so I didn't get burned by some masterful scheme.  But alas, I got an email from the developers to confirm my shipping address!

Is it true, is this friggin game finally going to be released?  [-o<  I've had this thing pre-ordered for 2 years already!

I really hope they aren't just trying to delay longer and figured they needed something to remind us of the game's existance....

So anyone else get the email (that ordered the game of course!)  Thoughts?  Think it might finally be released soon or think there will be another year of delays?  :x

Off-Topic / Just got screwed on Ebay

and not in a good 'hey man I dont even know this chicks name, but just totally plowed her anyway' kind of way.  I won an auction for Border Down LE for the dreamcast for $66.  The douche seller canceled the sale because he was "out of stock".  That fucking site will let you do anything wont they?  I replied back and told him if he wanted to sell it for a certain amount, he should have put a reserve on it.  Someone is getting negative feedback.  Sorry, just needed to vent somewhere.  Almost forgot, his ebay name is ryohazuki787.

Anyone ever been?  The webpage is here.  They claim to have the largest collection of retro arcades in the world.  My wife found an article in 'Yankee' magazine when we were trying to find things to do/places to go in New England.  I know there are a few of you from around these parts, so just looking for any feedback before I drag her up to NH for a weekend.  Their arcade list does look impressive though and all games are still a quarter.

General Gaming / Made me an arcade stick
02/23/2010, 02:37 AM
I have been poking around the intetnets lately and decided that I was sick of the "arcade sticks" I have for a few consoles and wanted a real one.  I found that a few forums recommended to use Sanwa parts, so I picked some up and made a stick.  My brother-in-law is a carpenter, so he was able to help me out with a few things (he has the right tools and was looking forward to helping me).  So, I cut a few pieces wood and glued the frame of the box together.  The next weekend I went to his house and within 4 hours we made this beauty.  Keep in mind its my first, so the next will come out better.

I bought some 20-pin plugs (common to computer PSUs) and made a plug system so I can switch out the hardware to make the stick universal.  Right now it is compatible with PS3/XBOX360 (connects over USB port using a 360 controller and a ChImp), Dreamcast and Saturn.  I plan to make a TG-16 controller also.  The plexi also comes off so I can switch out the picture.  I may also stain it black.  All in all it was a fun project and will probably make another in the future.

I have a few extra games that I am looking to trade (or maybe sell) and I thought I would list them here first before selling them through other means (ebay :( ).  These are all US games and I am looking for US games in trade.  I don't care about the cardboard box, but you have it, fine by me.  As for the manuals in need, I remember a little while back someone bought a whole lot of manuals and not sure if they are still around/have the ones I need.  I can provide more pictures if needed.  If you have any items in the wanted section and are not looking for a trade, but would sell, let me know.

Prices do not include shipping.  Probably be around $5 if shipped in the US.

*sold* $30  Y's Book III Disc here
*sold* $30  Dragon Slayer Legend of Heros (no manual / disc a little scratched, nothing deep)

*sold* $15  Splatterhouse (label peeling in corner, can provide a sparky sticker if needed)
*sold* $10  Ordyne  Spine here
*sold* $10  Bonk's Revenge (label misaligned from factory, so wearing a little)
$5   World Class Baseball  Spine here

Anyone know what kind of memory they used in the backup RAM (esp the IFU)?  Only reason Im asking is because I never saw any battery/capacitor in the unit when I had it apart and I leave it unplugged when not in use.  I never had an issue before with the memory.  Well, I went on vacation for 3 weeks, then didn't use the console for about a month after that.  So, I popped in Nexzr the other day and there was some type of message about the RAM.  I dont know Japanese, so I dont know what it said.  I just figured it was telling me it was out of space.  But, the game would not start.  It was just stuck on that screen.  So, I booted up the RAM screen and there were no save files listed.  So, I formated it and the game started right up.

So....  Is it some kind of volatile ram and the battery ran out from being unplugged?  Im pissed because my dracula x and Ys saves were on there and now gone.  I'm looking for a way to prevent this again, or if just got corrupt somehow.

And this ebay seller has THREE Bonk 3 CD games for sale on ebay right now.  How the hell do you just out of nowhere run into 3 copies of a rare game?

one

two & three

I mean, the price isn't that bad considering, but he's an obvious reseller that somehow got three of these damn games at once and thinks of nothing but making money off them.  Sorry, it was taco lunch day and my wife decided to make some mixed drinks and I'm a little buzzing and pissed right now.

Hey guys, I know there are a few people on this forum that live in Japan and I found a site that is selling a game I've been looking for for the Wonderswan, but of course, only ship to Japan.  So, I didn't know if someone was willing to work with me on importing it.  If you are down, send me a PM :)

If anyone has one around that they would like to get rid of, let me know.  Im looking for one for a decent price if possible.
Thanks.

I made this guide while I was changing out my last CD unit.  The first time I did the swap, I looked around and did not see a guide and kinda wished there was one, so I decided to make one for anyone that wishes to attempt this swap on their own.  I decided to make the guide near the end of the swap, which is why you will see the new laser in place in some of the pictures.
So, I went back and re-did everything just for you! :)

Items needed:
replacement laser (KSS-220a or KSS-162a)
TG16 or PCE CD unit

Tools needed:
Jewler's screwdriver set
Multimeter
Soldering iron
Solder sucker or braid

IMG

Start out with your donar unit.  If you opted for a brand new KSS-220a, it will come with a different type of track.  Begin by removing The ribbon cables from the assembly.  Then, remove the two screws that are attached to the sled gear (step 1 in pic).  To remove the laser unit from the assembly, press in plastic tab (step 2), then slide out the metal bar (step 3).  This will free the laser from the track.

IMG

Next, you will want to dissasemble the CD unit.  Flip the CD player over and locate and remove the four screws that keep the bottom on.

IMG

Be careful pulling the unit apart.  On the TG16 version of the CD player, there is a ground wire that is attached to the sheilding of the bottom cover.  I accidentally broke the solder point, but it does not effect the usage of the player.

IMG

Next, remove the screw in the middle of the PCB.  This will allow you to lift the board to allow access to the laser.

So, has anyone ever bought anything from www.moeroshop.net?  They have a couple TG games I wanted to buy, but have never ordered from them before.  The shipping is a bit much, but I can't find the game i want anywhere else.  I was hoping to place an order on Monday, but wanted some opinions of those that hve purchased there.

Sold to Ichibanrei.  Thanks Again!

Hey guys.  I am letting go my CGII that I recently region modded.  I ended up getting a white PCE that I use in my briefcase and I have another CGII that I have paired with the matching CDROM unit, so this one is no longer needed.  If you follow the link, I think you will agree that I did a very careful and professional job on the mod, so it should provide years of happiness for both flavors of HU Card goodness

Here are a few pictures of it working in action

SFII that I will include (has case, spine, reg)

As for the price, I am hopefully looking to trade for a game that I need.  Keep in mind that I know there will not be straight up trades for some of the games I am asking for, so we can work something out.  If no one wants to trade, I am hoping to sell it for ~$90.  It will come with the console, matching controller, original AC adapter and AV cables (no box).

My want list (in no particular order, US and complete unless specified otherwise):
Super Air Zonk
Terraforming
Cotton
Coryoon (J)
Sapphire (will accept bootleg)
Bonk 3 (either HU or CD)
Kaze Kiri (J)
Nexzr (J)
Exile 2
Magical Chase (J) <- US ver is out of the question

Thanks guys!

Hey guys, I may be selling my Core Grafx II.  Includes AV cable, 1 matching remote, AC adapter and Street Fighter II HU card in jewel.  If I end up selling it, how much do you think I should ask for it?  I would like to try to sell it on here first, but if not, it'll go to ebay.  I'm still not sure if I am selling it right now, so please dont PM me offers yet.
Thanks!

Was doing a quick search and it appears that this user is clearing out his collection:

Most of his stuff appears to be sealed too.

I won an auction for a white PCE from Retro Game City on Ebay and when it came in, it would only display a black screen and the unit was getting warm.  I tried in both my IFU and with an RF adapter.  I opened the unit up to see if anything was wrong and this is what I found:

So, does anyone know what they were attempting with mod?  Also, that real thin orange wire attached to the series of resistors, goes through the board and it attached to pin 20 on the HUc6260 chip.

I figure it no longer works due to the crack in the board (prob from shipping), but was still curious about the mod.  I talked with Andy at Retro City and he is very understanding and is sending me a replacement free of charge.  (I highly recommend him as an ebay seller).  He said that he does not fix consoles, or even know how, so he's not sure what was going on.

So, before I waste a ton of time trying to fix the many many broken traces, is it even worth it, or should I just keep this one for parts (due to the other stuff going on)?  I figure I could attempt to use a pencil to reconnect the traces (like a graphic card volt mod), but if that doesn't work, I'm going to need a lot of wire.

I hope it was someone from here and not a reseller, because there were a ton of great games and it sold well under the value.  I just couldn't part with >$400 right now on games.

Found one, thanks

Hey guys.  I was looking to pickup a TG-CD and dock (with power supply and System card).  If anyone has one in good working order, please let me know.  I was looking around on the Ebay (yeah, I know) and they are all bundles.  I already have a TG16 and controllers, so I don't need the full system.  Thanks guys.

Hey guys, sorry if this has been brought up in the past, but is there a difference between the retail and pack-in version of Ys book I&II besides the design of the disc art?  Is one worth more than the other?

I was actually looking for the PCE clone in this thread (https://www.pcengine-fx.com/forums/index.php?topic=6886.0) and these popped up.  You think they would make clones of better games (not referring to the Parasol Stars/PC Genjin 2 HU).  I mean, you put all that effort into it, make something good.

It took me about 2.5 hours and I followed the directions over at mmmonkey's site.  I thought that lifting pin 29 would be the hard part....  damn was I wrong.  That took me about 15 seconds to lift and solder a wire to, finding a suitable ground was another story.  Apparently grabbing the neg side of any capacitor doesnt work.  I just ended up using one of the legs from the main power switch on the bottom of the board.  But tapping the 16 pins on the top were such a pain.  Well, the bottom 8 were.  Not to mention getting ground on pin 18 of the hucard slot.  But, she works like a charm now.  You guys that do this all the time definitely get my respect!  Now for some pictures, because what's a thread without pics ?

Oh, and is this possible (space-wise) to do in a Turbo Express?  I am going to be doing a full cap replacement soon (well, whenever the caps come in) and was thinking about doing this mod at the same time.

So, I bought a broken IFU and CDROM unit off ebay just to see if I can salvage the poor thing.  I dont have an AC adapter for the briefcase, but I'm going to save diagnosing that for another day.

As for the CDROM unit, I was hoping that it would be something stupid and easy to fix, but something is telling me I just bought a paperweight.  When I power it up, nothing happens.  The CD doesn't spin, the laser doesn't move (gear is OK though) and there is a "0" for the track display.  I opened it up and everything appears to be in order.  No loose wires, none of the ICs appear damaged, no cracks in the board, and no solder resin spots (sometimes see those when a resistor overheats and dies).  For reference, I am using my TG16 power brick to test.

So, I guess my first question is, when not in the IFU, is it normal to see the "0" under track listing?  I am hoping so, since it is not attached to the IFU (where it should then say "PC"?).  Does this sound like a dead laser issue (maybe the unit has no idea that there is a music CD in it, since it cant read it)?  Or perhaps a dead spindle motor (which it appears to be the same unit that is in the PS1, which I have 2 on order, since I have a 3DO Im going to try to fix).  I want to say the unit itself is OK since it powers up, but something with the drive/laser is dead.

Any comments and input would be appreciated!  If you need me to take any pictures or test anything out to help further, please let me know.  Thank you!

Hey guys, I tried searching, but it looked like most of the results were for replacing a Turbo Duo or Duo-R power supply.  I need to find a suitable replacement for the power supply that works with the Interface unit, CD Rom2 and CGII.  I believe it is 9v 1.5a.  There is an old thread that says a Radioshack #273-1771 power supply with an "L" tip will work.  Radioshack wants $31 + $7 for the power adapter.

https://www.pcengine-fx.com/forums/index.php?topic=321.0

Not sure if anyone knows of any suitable replacement that doesn't cost the amount I paid for the unit Smile
I only ask because that thread is 7 years old.

Buy/Sell/Trade / WTB: Core Grafx II
04/08/2009, 08:07 AM
Hey guys, Im kinda new here, been stalking for a while and frantically signed up when i thought I killed my duo-r.  Anywho, just seeing if anyone out there has a Core Grafx II system they want to sell.  I'd like it complete (black/orange controller, ac adapter, a/v cable) and anything else would be a bonus.  So, anyone that wants to part with one, let me know.  Either here or email bluetypes @ charter . net
Thanks!

Oh, in the US please.
