Quote from: OldRover on 02/19/2018, 04:29 AMIt is done. The 23 month production of FX Unit Yuki has come to an end. We'll be running some final tests to ensure that everything is up to speed. The RC was sent off to Saru a few minutes ago so he can have his local people give it a full playtest.
Congrats!  Now take a break for a little bit!

Glad I'm not the only one still playing Wii U.

Today I have to go see if there is a PSVR set for $200 still available on sale.  My Processor Unit broke just after the warranty expired and they are charging me $100 to replace it.  Would rather just pay $200 And get a whole new headset.

Quote from: KingDrool on 02/15/2018, 12:40 PMOut today: Johnny Turbo's Arcade: Gate of Doom.

QuoteGate of Doom a is classic multiplayer action RPG for one to two players. Originally release in 1990, and a noted classic arcade title from the 90s.
Am I the only one that thinks is fucking bizarre?

Also, I've never played this game and it wasn't in any of the many arcades I used to frequent.  Is it just dumb luck, or are they using the term "classic" too liberally here?

I just do the no meat on ash Wednesday and for all Fridays through lent.  I'm not a church going type, but being born and raised in a predominantly Roman Catholic city has rubbed off on me this much.

...Plus it makes my mom proud of me, for once.

It's not a streaming service, but it is a movie service, so I'll talk about it.  MoviePass is the one I can't figure out.  I see a movie or more each week now, so I pay approximately $2 per movie.  MoviePass is eating the difference with the theater, doesn't make any sense.

I get they are getting some advertising revenue and they are selling my info to movie studios and whoever will pay for it, but is that really making up for the money they are paying theaters?  Rumor is they will start asking for $3 per movie discounts from theaters due to the extra traffic they are providing, but even there that would mean they need to make up about $26 per month from weekly movie goers.

Unless there are a lot of people with MoviePass that are seeing 0 or 1 movie per month, I'd like to see the stats on attendance.

The ideal is that these are sticky businesses and once you get subscribers you don't lose them.  If you need to make a few high stakes moves to up that recurring revenue, it will be worth it in the long run.  Plus a $3 price hike down the road won't cause many to drop the service, but it sure will add a ton of revenue.

Also, shows like Stranger Things and movies like Cloverfield may be expensive to purchase, but then you own them (in most cases) forever, so the value proposition continues to rise.  Eventually they won't need to spend as much and will still have a shit load of programming due to the back catalog.

This is a pretty nice custom cabinet, figured I'd share.
Wow, that is pretty awesome looking.  Can't imagine the time and money put into it though!
Considering what the game alone usually sells for and the price of a LA with a pax, basically the cab is free if it doesn't get bid up.

...dare someone to buy it, so I can play it.

Quote from: turboswimbz on 02/09/2018, 08:46 AMInterested to see Get out so far down. I've heard nothing but amazing things about it. made me wonder if I missed something
I've also heard lots of great things. However, I started watching it and instantly found it incredibly predictable and boring. I continued watching, waiting for it to finally "get good", but stopped after 45 minutes. If a movie can't grab my attention within half an hour, it's not worth finishing.

If someone on here thought this movie was great, I'd love to heard why.
Get Out was fun and I enjoyed it, but was surprised to see it lumped as one of the year's best or one of the greatest horror movies ever.

In my opinion 1-4 on my list are genuine Oscar worthy films and 5-9 have a pretty big dip in quality. Would be happy if they just went back to five nominees.

Best two movies of the year weren't even nominated.  The Handmaiden (Korean movie) and Blade Runner.

Xbox One X is my go to multi-platform machine now.  If you aren't a PC gamer and wanna play something new, it's the best option.  I wish there were a few more exclusives, but that's what Nintendo is for.

Been watching old Johnny Carson interviews on YouTube if that counts?

Season 2 of Stranger Things gets too much criticism.  I didn't like the new mutant too much (non-spoiler I hope), but I think Sean Astin was a nice add.  Also loved Max's brother, the mom seduction scene was great.

I can't tell if I like the X-Files new season or hate it, but I can't stop watching.  Episode with the original X-File creator gave me quite a few laughs.  Were Mulder and Scully always bad actors though?

The best way to play FDS.
If you are on a CRT, get yourself the 3D System, boot up Falsion, and be amazed!
Never knew this existed, I just play the actual disks and eagerly await for them all to break.  It's a shame that it looks like when using a Twin you need to be the world's greatest engineer to hook it up.

To the OP, get a bunch of the Chinese pirate games and thank me later.  Things like Street Fighter 12, Somari, and Super Mario World are in heavy Famicom rotation at my house.

Since nobody asked...  My friends and I decided to do all the Oscar nominated movies in a 2 week period.  My rankings below:

1 Shape of Water
2 Phantom Thread
3 Three Billboards
4 Call Me by Your Name
5 Get Out
6 Lady Bird
7 Darkest Hour
8 The Post
9 Dunkirk

Now I can go back to watching trash and smut.

Quote from: guest on 01/16/2018, 09:31 AMI played a bunch of the Gameboy version of Crazy Castle back in the day.  It's not all that great (repetitive and bland in both looks and play), but I had fun with it.

The only games I can think of that I played a lot decades ago but came back to in recent years are a couple other gameboy games: Cosmo Tank and Super Mario Land 2.  Both were as good as I remember 'em.
I remember getting the GB version of the game as an Easter present one year, which surprised me because even as a kid I didn't think that was a thing.  I played the game a lot back then, but never have any interest in playing again for some reason.

My memory sucks, so I'm sure this is 20% of what I beat.  I also was doing a bit of a remodel that kept my older systems unhooked for a large portion of the year.

Resident Evil 7 (PSVR)
Rush of Blood (PSVR)
London Heist (PSVR)
Batman Arkham VR (PSVR)
...I was about to beat Far Point (PSVR), but then my PSVR broke.
Wolfenstein New Order (XB1)
Call of Duty WWII (XB1)
Rock Band Rivals (XB1)
Raiden V (XB1)
Mario Odyssey (Switch)
NBA Ballers (Switch)
Puyo Puyo Tetris (Switch)
Bomberman R (Switch)
Super Mario World (SNES)
Felix the Cat (NES)

I'm done taking a shit so I'll stop here.  Currently playing Nier and close to beating it.

I had to check the calendar to make sure it wasn't April 1st.

It's odd they are still releasing games for a dead system, I can't imagine the sales numbers being worth it at this point.  Maybe this will allow for easier ports to Switch once they get the VC or it's equivalent up on it?

Quote from: TheClash603 on 09/02/2017, 02:33 PMYou will have to tell us about the turnout.  I was considering putting up a table at a local flea market to get rid of a handful of crap I have doubles of stuff that isn't really worth the price of shipping, like NES controllers and other various junk.  A table costs $40 and you need to set up at 6AM before they close off the road, so I have yet to commit to this idea.
I have debated doing something similar with a local video game convention that's maybe like 1-2 hours north of me.  They do open swap/sale (bring your own table) and vendor pay for the premium locations, which seems like a pretty decent idea.  I (like you apparently) am just super unmotivated to gather up stuff and price it, and I wouldn't want to be the guy saying "i dunno the price, let me check"
It's now five hours from the flea market and I've decided I won't be waking up at 5AM.

Why are flea markets / garage sales / swap meets a thing people like to do early in the morning?  I tend to not wake up until at least noon on the weekend so I miss out on all these sales I would like to attend.

Bock - Just curious, was a physical version of the remake ever discussed for Switch?  Do they have the same high number of minimum orders?  I would've loved to have seen one.

Regarding the game you are looking for, it seems like you are not a collectard and genuinely don't know about the price it goes for now. I picked mine up almost a decade ago and it was already too expensive, now it's just absurd.  Unless you get exceptionally lucky, a cheap price is gonna be tough.

Virtua Fighter 2 was already out in arcades when the Saturn released and it trumped the first game in almost every way.  Virtua Fighter 2 on Saturn is a solid release that is still playable to this day.

It is odd they even decided to put out the original Virtua Fighter, seems like it would detract from sales of the sequel if anything.  Even more odd is they acknowledged it was crap when they did Remix.  They should've just packed in part 2 at this time and forgot about the original game.  Remix wasn't a cash grab either, because even though retail copies exist, it's so hard to find the retail version that Sega must have made near zero of them.

NES, SNES, Game Boy, and Duo all had great pack-ins.

#187
The Sega CD was a terrible value in comparison to the Duo when it came out at $299.

When the Sega CD Model 2 came out at $229 less than a year later, it was much more reasonable.  I bet the Sega CD would've been a game changer if it came out originally at $199 somehow.

My friend shared this with me, not sure of the source but it seems legit.

Ys PS4 standard : ~4,289 + 10 = ~4,299
Ys Vita standard : ~3,462 + 10 = ~3,472
Total so far : ~7,771
Total including CE : ~13,771

Odds are they never do a preorder again, I don't think they like these numbers.  I assume if they did a 5,000 run of standard edition on each system, it sells out in 30 minutes or less in each wave.

The irony of the whole situation is by not making the game limited, it appears to have become more limited?

Also, I would say this shows LRG set collecting is largely a thing of the past.  Most people seem to have moved on.

Apparently I am easy to please, because I thought the game looked really nice.  There's been quite the backlash from people over the character models, which were then stated to be temporary.  I'm torn if that's true, if they were actually temporary the trailer should be started with some sort of disclaimer.

I grabbed a SNES Classic bundle on Gamestop that came with two wireless controllers.  I didn't really want the controllers at all, but the bundle was cheaper than resale prices on the system alone, and maybe (probably not), they will actually be good controllers to use when I am more than 5 feet from the system.

The only spine cards I collectarded over were LA, for some unknown reason.  I don't think I have many at all for my other systems and the ones I do have, I maybe have looked at for a fraction of a second, so I don't recall if any had anything nice to look at.
