I'm sure he means that tracks play in the wrong levels &/or start in the middle of the track!  IIRC, I had this on Bonk 3 CD, lot's of wierdness when replacing tracks, same goes for Legion.  Sylphia on the otherhand can be done without screwing up the placement of the tracks.  I was able to do that Hard Rock version, though I did have Bonknuts do a lil' finagling with the final boss, so that there would be an extra track.  I don't recall any problems replacing tracks in general on the game.
#253
The only thing I can really complain about in Super Bonk 2, is the checkpoint system.  All other Bonk games have Bonk respawn.  It makes it more difficult, for better or worse.  Bonk 3 was waaaaaaaaaaay too easy, so challenge is welcome.  Still, I found the final boss of Super Bonk 2 frusterating because of not respawning.  That's one thing I'd change if we brought it to the Turbob.

Awesome, glad you like!  I was nervous about Iceman, since it like Cutman has a melody that's kinda off.  I must've gotten that one right.  Will eventually have to adjust Cutman once I get back in gear on music.

It needs to be WAV, or whatever is listed in the cuesheet.  For instance, on my WII, I have Turbo CD's that use the OGG format for the redbook audio in WiiMednafen.  OGG doesn't lose too much in quality, & it cuts down how big the games are tremdously.  Of coarse, if you want to play it on real hardware, it deffinitly has to be WAV.  I think the same goes for Magic Engine.  Probably regular Mednafen supports OGG, but I don't believe it supports MP3.

Quote from: Gentlegamer on 02/13/2017, 04:09 PMCadash was in every TILT I went to back in the day.

One with two cabs linked for four player.
Wow, I never knew TILT was a franchise!  I had one here in Southern Cali at the Thousand Oaks mall!  Practically grew up inside of it, though I think my middle brother spent more time then me, partially due to it going out of business sometime in the 90's(don't remember what year).  As for Cadash, I saw it fairly often at differnet arcades & pizza places etc., so I sucked at it, but I played it often!

Super Bonk uses the crab, though IIRC, you mainly see it for the shmup bonus level.  There is at least one level late in the game where I think you do have to use the crab a lot.
#258
With some games,  you can just rename the new tunes you put in, but deffinitely not every game!  I tried this on Legion, where the tunes are PSG, but it also has a redbook audio track of a guy speaking in english while you're shooting stuff.  The problem with that game, as well as many others, is that you have to make sure the new track you insert is EXACTLY the same length!

For instance, I think the redbook audio dialogue in Legion is only 30-45 seconds long, but you get all kinds of wierdness when you insert a song that's 3 minutes long!  You need a program that can open WAV files.  I use Sound Forge.  I'll open the original track, make a mark at the end.  Then I paste the new track over it, & if it goes past the mark, I delete that part.  Then I fade about 15 seconds of the end of the song, so it doesn't stop all of a sudden, but just fades like alot of songs do.  I hope that all makes sense & is helpful.

I plan on remaking the Bonk 3 CD soundtrack from scratch with my equipment(to make the songs sound more Bonkish) & do this exact teqnique soon if I can get the motivation back.  Been having trouble with 2 sound channels on my keyboard playing at the same time, so I have that to figure out, plus been having general PC problems that I hope to have resolved soon & have more time for this kind of stuff!

Also, for games that do this, the other way to take care of the problem is to have someone reprogram it. ](*,)
#259
Super Bonk could be a great game, it, more then Bonk 3, requires some rebuilding.  Majority of the music isn't very Bonkish, nor the sounds.  I think one thing that would help is if he could spin faster.  I have written down various ideas on how to make the game better, including the look of the graphics if done on the Turbo, which would be a neat project I'd absolutely love to do some day.  Espcially the music, since that's my forte.

I think the first 3 were Bonk's Adventure, Keith Courage(or JJ & Jeff, not sure) & Legendary Axe.  Played them at a friends house before the night before heading to Disneyland.  The main one I remember playing was Bonk, that one sticks out most in my mind.

Sweet, thanks man!  It's been a passion for me to figure out how I wanted to do these songs.  Plus, I learned a new word, pastiche!  And yeah, there's TONS of Mega Man games, I have  but only played a fraction of them.  I don't care for the alternate universe games(Battle Nework, Network Transmission, etc.).  But they're official, so I draw whatever I can from those games along with the rest of the series for this soundtrack.

I'll go into more description here on the other songs I did:

As for Supervision, I think it's ok, but then again, I haven't spent tons of time on it.  i have a couple of them, plus tons of games.  I never did find a tv link dealy.  The consoles & games are/were stupidly cheap.  I'm sure the Supervision is better then the Gamate.  I have one of those as well with a few games, but it seems like they're much harder to find & games more expensive.  I love showing them to people who visit, & they wonder what in the world they are! :D

Quote from: ParanoiaDragon on 01/27/2017, 03:01 AMDon't forget Neutopia 3.  It unfortunately seemed to be problematic to even think about making it as a proper Neutopia IIRC.
Yeah, and when the trademarks were renewed on the first two games, it just sealed that. N3 wasn't listed on the page though, so I didn't comment on it. There are a few other games which never made it through the production process that also aren't listed so I left them out, such as Valkyrie Midnight (since FU is no longer officially active, though perhaps SS could pick this up in the future) and our proper conversion of Golden Axe (because it's a spare time project that can never be released as a properly manufactured disc). There is also Mysterious Song II: Eternal Silence, which is inactive at the moment, as it was always a side project which I worked on by myself from time to time using stock assets until the time came to find proper talent for it. There are also a few projects that few have ever heard of that I have had a hand in but that are either inactive or just never got off the ground, such as Road to Tenochtitlan, Honey Kitty, Two Ladies, and the one that Necromancer has been pining for for years, Bikini Girls Of Puerto Rico.

One thing that many people don't know is that this all is not too dissimilar to Hollywood. For every movie that makes it to the big screen, scores of movies are either choked up in development hell, never get the necessary funding to complete, or are abandoned/shelved for a variety of reasons. Games are the same way... for every game that is released, plenty are not, for a myriad of reasons. Any dev who states that he or she has never had a game in the works that never made it is being dishonest. As Henry Rollins would say it, "you're a liar and you're boring!"
How could I forget about Golden Axe & Valkyrie Midnight!?  I think I'm begining to lose it! :P

Quote from: OldRover on 01/26/2017, 08:14 PMI can speak for stuff I've been involved in and why they've either stopped or have been put on hold.

I was working with Fragmare on Xymati but it was requiring a level of competence above and beyond what I was capable of at the time. I just didn't have the skills to program all the stuff it required. That's not an issue nowadays, now it's just time. Maybe it's something that can be picked up again in the future.
Monolith basically ran out of steam, so to speak. I was having more and more issues in my "real life" and was neglecting the project, so people split, thinking it was a dead project. However, it has a complete soundtrack custom-made for it by a professional musician, and it's part of a quadrilogy so it will eventually go back into production. The game engine was an important evolutionary step leading up to the creation of the platformer sections of HE.
Dragon Arm effectively died when we decided to shut down Frozen Utopia. I doubt it will be back.
Jungle Bros ran into memory issues on the PCE, so lord_cack and I decided to try to bring it to the PC instead. We lost touch over time and the project basically faded into obscurity. I did release the code and assets to another PCE coder to see if he would pick up where we had left off but I am not sure if anything ever came of it.
Einzelganger was put on hold due to irl issues with its designer. We've since spoken about reviving the project in the future. Asteroid Challenge, a small minigame released for both PCE and PC-FX, was based on the Einzelganger game engine, and the code was later reworked for both LDP and the shooter portions of HE.

Also, that page has one minor issue... Henshin Engine isn't an Eponasoft project, it's a Saru Studio project.
Don't forget Neutopia 3.  It unfortunately seemed to be problematic to even think about making it as a proper Neutopia IIRC.

Yeah, I absolutely loved Ys 6 on PS2 as well.  I didn't care too much for the 3d models, prefer the original & PSP in that regard.  But that game is great.  Not Oath in Felghana or Origin great, but still great.  Even still, I'm sure I'll enjoy Ys 5 to some degree or another.  I wonder if the music was more rock, less classical, if that would've helped peoples opinions of it?
#285
Since I didn't have a super amount of exposure to the first Ninja Gaiden growing up, I actually prefer the music in the PCE version.  I've played that one far more over the years.

Quote from: fragmare on 01/18/2017, 11:02 AMSounds good, man!  :)  I agree with the others about those few notes in the Cutman music.  If you want, I could share with you (and everybody else) how I break down and dissect the original tunes when I make the chiptune covers.  That way, you can get the timing perrrrrrrrrrrrfect.  It's a PITA and not for the faint of heart, i'll warn you.  haha

Agreed. :)

My only suggestion is to BOOST THE BASS in all the tracks so that you can officially be licensed (by me) for 100% compliance to the NEC Virtual Cushion Standard (NECVCS)

:)
Ha, if anything, I think some of my songs have too much bass, especially Fireman, I need to tone it down a lil'.  My Iceman theme my be a little too boomin as well.

However, if Bonknuts wants to crank the bass on the sound fx for Virtual Cushion support, more power too him!  I just don't want my songs overwhelming the average stereo!
#288
Thanks Bonq, I don't recall if you had heard that one yet!

So, I just don't hear it being off, & I have zero musical training....I just hear stuff, & either recreate it to the best of my ability, or make up new stuff, like what I did with Jungle Bros.  Would you say it's absolutely necessary to move the 7 notes up slightly?  Makes me worry about how Iceman will come across to ones who are able to tell.  I know I can't please everybody, & I tend to continually nitpick my own songs.  Sometimes, years later I'll listen to something, & wonder why in the world I went in a certain direction, or used a certain instrument.

Still, with that said, when the times comes, if need be, I'll load it up & try to adjust the first 7 notes forward ever so slightly.  One thing i was thinking that might help, is for me to do that, & then mash it up with the original to see if I hear a difference!

And on that note, here's the Stage Select:contains elements from:

Fine, so be it!  :D  Here's Cutman, might tweak the bassline to sound a little rougher, otherwise it's done.  Like all my Mega Man tunes, it is based on several versions of Cutmans theme, including the NGPC version of Rockman Power Battles, along with other songs from the entire MM series that I felt would fit in.  From Battle Network(of which I never got into) to Legends to ZX, etc., I utilized themes from the whole series, as long as it wasn't from MM 2-6......just incase I ever ended up doing the other NES MM soundtracks.
