That's either an amazing deal or somebody trolling to see who the other local collectors are.
#252
Are these for sale yet or is this just a test run?

Happy birthday! Might not want to ask for a shower around these parts. Might get something you weren't planning on getting.

Side note: figured making a post about not finding TG games in the wild would somehow change my luck and let me actually find some today while thrifting. And...I didn't find any, but I did find a Commodore
Vic-20 in the box. Picked up the monitor that goes with it months ago. Makes me wonder if a guy on a
Vic-20 forum was just bitching about not finding any Vic-20 stuff in the wild stumbled across a TG today...

I looked up gameplay for one of the Cobra games. Looked like it was all text based and all Japanese. Do you guys just follow along with a translation or something?

Quote from: pixeljunkie on 08/06/2014, 05:20 PMalso - don't let collecting be your guide. Hunt down stuff you want to play and play it. Don't worry about the rest. Fun games are fun.
That's the plan for this system. Sometimes I spend more time hunting for NES games than I actually spend playing them and some of the games downright suck. Don't want that to be the case for the Turbo. Once my Everdrive comes in, I plan on playing them all and doing some kind of simple review. Will probably review them on DoxPhile since there's already a thread for each game.
#259
They don't call them loose for nothing. Hey oh!!!

I skated a lot when I was a teenager. Was more into riding down large hills than street skating. Never really got the whole ollie thing down either so I was pretty limited.

Stopped skating completely when I got a concussion. Was going down a hill and didn't see that there was a chain laying on the ground after the curb. Made it to bottom of the hill and next thing I remember, my face was in the center of the street. Probably flew about 5 or six feet. Most air I've ever gotten in my life. Haha.

Is that why there are so many copies of Keith Courage? Must be going at it like rabbits out in the wild.

Just subscribed to his channel. Plenty of catching up to do.

Quote from: BigusSchmuck on 08/05/2014, 07:26 PMTo be perfectly honest with you, I haven't found any turbo stuff in the wild not since the 90s. Retro Gaming Stores sure, but then again you will be paying out of the arse 90% of the time with them and at that point you might as well go to ebay. I will say the stuff I did find at my local pawn shop will make some of you laugh and cry at the same time. Lots and lots of cases with mismatched games, a turbo tap, 5 new turbo sticks, and the legendary tg-16 to duo converter. I can't recall what I paid for all of that, but the turbo sticks were like $10 a piece.
I'll give you $11 for one of them turbo sticks. I'm sure you've kept all of them, right? ;)

I'll be sure to ask if I see him on there. I've been going through all your magazine scans over there and soaking up all the info. Found a code to use three ships at once on Galaga in one of them.
#265
I've been looking for a new 3DS game and based on the recommendations, I think I'll check out The Professor Layton series as well.
#266
That's what I figured. Thought I saw a map somewhere that showed NEC/TTI only marketed to those areas. I'll still keep looking though. Hope others chime in who have actually found things out there so I can live vicariously through them. Haha.
#267
I ordered mine from there as well. Great board and arrived in a couple days.
#268
I'm constantly stopping at thrift stores and flea markets looking for video games. Been checking stores for about 8 years but really only started focusing on games the past 3 or so. Have found games for many systems and the consoles themselves but never anything TG related. Any of you guys find anything good out there?

Quote from: TopCat on 08/05/2014, 01:11 PMI was burning brush and a few other things.    [-X  My friends have been playing the batteries off it and thought it would make a good background for a pic.  Thanks again guys for getting me back in the game.  I love my TE.
Don't lie, turbokon made you the exclusive flame throwing edition.

Have a copy of Final Blaster coming my way. That'll put my number of PC Engine games up to a whopping 4.  =D>

Saw Lucy this afternoon. I enjoyed the story and the ending made you think a little bit. I've always wondered if humans have untapped powers. I'd be cool with just flying and invisibility.
#273
Saw a laserdisc in a thrift store today. Rarely see them and have never seen a player. Was some awful Christmas movie.

Do laserdiscs have good quality picture? Seem to be all the rage today in some places.

Another plug for DoxPhile. Joined that forum and have learned a ton more about TG games. Magazine scans are great too. Thanks, Nulltard!

Quote from: Damon Plus on 08/04/2014, 03:22 AMThis one is a game I really want to love, but I don't. Nothing wrong with the game though. . Its got good music and amazing g graphics for its time. The power up system is flexible if a bit confusing at times, and there's hidden difficulty modes for added challenge. But I find the stages a bit too long for my tastes and lose interest long before the end. Even if its not my cup of tea, its one of the essential Tg shooter.
It's your avatar though. Aren't you supposed to love the game in your avatar?

Plan on buying a bunch of the Billy shelves whenever I move out of my current place. Until then, games stay in the closet. :(
#278
Just got shipping confirmation. :)

Quote from: Bernie on 08/04/2014, 10:51 AMYou won't get a tracking number.  He updated the invoice.  Just check your original invoice that was emailed to you.  When you click that link, it will have the tracking there.
Ahh. Will check that. Looked on PayPal and didn't see anything. Didn't think about checking the invoice.

Quote from: cobrad12 on 08/01/2014, 11:34 PMI can also confirm decent shipping time. I order one fairly recently and had it exactly 10 days after the confirmation.
Did you get a tracking number?
Still haven't gotten one yet. Have you?
Nope. :(
#281
Might give this one a shot. Have played it a handful of times but think I've only made it to the second level. Normally decent at shooters. Haven't given this one enough time.

Ha! You're probably right. Should maybe change it to turtle power.

Quote from: HailingTheThings on 08/03/2014, 07:54 PMGreat episode! I remember seeing the cart for Faceball ever so often and always wondering what it was all about. Thanks for letting me know how ech it is! Yeah!
Ha. I thought the same thing when I first saw the cart. Great episode, btw!

Great job. Looks amazing!

Quote from: guest on 08/02/2014, 06:25 AMNot to hijack your thread, slinky, and spam DoxPhile propaganda.... but over there each game has its own dedicated board (which is displayed on the game's info page in the game directory).  also on each game page is a link to view each and every scanned magazine page on which a game is mentioned.

These are features which currently exist. Planned for the future on each game page (ETA: 12th of never) are user ratings (graphics, sound, etc... and will be sortable fields in the master game list), user collection management, and wtb/wts marketplace.

Brought to you by DoxPhile
Will definitely check out the reviews, when I'm done being lazy, of course. ;)
#287
True. Haven't played a ton of games could say a thing or two about the ones I have played.
#288
I can't contribute as I'm one of the newer guys to collecting TG/PCE but I think that's a great idea. Would love to see a list like that.

Woo hoo! Sending my info now. Thank you so much, elderbroom!!!!!

Quote from: guest on 08/01/2014, 05:20 PMIncomplete how?  GoT came on a 3 in 1 disc in a white CD case with 3 manuals (no box or case art). If you're after a <$65 CD shooter game, you may want to explore the PCengine library.
Oh, was not aware of that. Thanks!

Just bought the Everdrive so I'll be good on HuCard games for a while (once it arrives from Germany). I have $65 in my paypal account that I'd like to spend on one or more Turbografx CD game(s).  Only CD game I have at the moment is Sherlock Holmes. I've been thinking about picking up Gate of Thunder but the only one online that I can afford at the moment is incomplete. Any recommendations besides GoT?

Quote from: guest on 08/01/2014, 01:50 PMEverdrives have been ordered! I'll be tracking it once i can do that. Retrogate estimates around 15-20 days to ship to the U.S. But it obviously could be longer. Sorry for the delay on purchasing them all but it is done! I'll keep everyone posted when i receive them and that sort of thing.

Also Rosser, i need your address. So please PM that to me when and if you see this. If not I'll just bug ya a little later, i just like having everything organized and ready for when the time comes to get these shipped off.
Ordered mine Wednesday and haven't received any tracking.

Whoops. I thought the OP was talking about a DUO which has the DIN connector ( or whatever it's called) that ends with RCA. Thought he meant the DUO was modded to have female RCA jacks. My bad.

Quote from: Paddyfitz18 on 08/01/2014, 02:15 PMVery good to remember to attach that 7805 regulator back to the shield.  I forgot once and dang that regulator gets HOT, very quickly.  Burned my hand on it.  I'm smart.
Yeah. I didn't have it attached when I was I was confirming that the region mod worked. Started noticing the heat coming from it and turned it off in a hurry.

Quote from: Ayce on 07/30/2014, 07:30 PMI'd like to see Bonk's Adventure for the NES converted to the TG16... that of course may cause a tear in the time and space fabric.

Thought the group buy was already over. :( Cost me a few more bucks but I'll get it a little sooner.
