Quote from: shubibiman on 11/05/2012, 01:46 AMOh lord! The money is not for me to get the protoype for myself, I don't care about prototypes, I just care for the game. I'm the one who's trying to gather the money but if a guy like Ccovell or any other member of this board keeps it, I don't care : the goal of this fundraising is to make the game available for everyone.

I think the many things I did for the PCE community proved far more than your 48th message on this board is trying to suggest.

Now if you want to debate, you've got another thread about this Dino Force prototype. Thanks.
You probably misunderstood what I mean. I ment, I wouldn't pay any amount of money to make some Japanese guy or some Japanese store who's just reselling this game for profit more rich. It has nothing to do with yourself, or people on this forum directly. I'm not trying to shoot the messenger, just state what I feel regarding the idea of rushing to pay 3rd parties who try to resell gouge for big money. That's also why I prefaced my text with <tags> to clearly indicate it's nothing personal. Just an opinion.

Quote from: guest on 11/03/2012, 06:09 PMI ain't paying shit for this crap.

I vote everyone take their fundraiser offering and take it to the Sinistron relief fund thread.   Pretty sure we need to help him out more than we need a probably-shitty game.
Agreed!

<Start personal rant>

To be honest, I would never contribute to this fundraiser to release a game.  If anything, I'd consider donating to a charity or someone else in need. Given that there are so many people who have 'real' life problems right now, I find it kind of distasteful to come to the community just to find 'fat pidgins' who can line their own pockets. Ie. That Japanese guy who originally had the game and registered on all of these forums bragging about the game and trying to promote it for sale.

It's the same thing that happened at the Assembler forums. Since the community there is well known for rescuing long-lost games, people (who have no interest in any long term contribution to the community), just join up and tease people with pictures in hopes of a fundraiser just to milk the 'cash' cow as much as they think they can get away with.

If you own a game, good for you. Enjoy it. If you want to release it, go ahead. But don't go bragging and talking about it, expecting people to start throwing money balls at you. To be honest, I'm kind of sick of all of these 'self-interest' fundraisers. "I have a rare game, what can I do? Not many people will pay a lot by themselves. I know, I'll try to organize a fundraiser so I can get paid for it!".

Done! Hope you get it this time.

PM Sent, though I'm not sure if your getting flooded with them. (^_^); Let me know!
#405
Am I the only one who just shrugs and goes "Whatever. I got lots of other games to deal with. Like 600+ titles!"?
#406
Q: How did you repair the CD-Lens gears? By changing it to a belt instead? Or just finding replacement parts?
#407
I have a copy of Super Star Soldier. I'd be interested in trading for Outrun or Bonanza Bros, but I don't know how feasible that might be considering not everyone has these, nor are willing to part with them. I can't think of anything else I'm in need of at the moment unfortunately.
#408
I'm guessing with all these add-on boxes and encoders, lag starts becoming an issue? Also, I guess you need to worry about where the RGB signal gets boosted from? Some people put the boost inside the console, and some build it into the AV cable?
#409
Good luck! Personally, I don't care about the mintiest of quality but if your looking for something try to find one with a good box and manual. The game card itself can at least be replaced if your not happy about the condition. At least for cheaper than finding a CIB game.

You can lock it yourself. You created the thread.

Update: Added more items for sale.

Hey,

Gee wiz, You should have said there was a wedding! Ok, send me a PM once all the craziness settles down and we can work it out. I'm sure everything will be fine. :-)

Cheers,

Again, would you mind just sending the images of the console to me? :-)  I'd rather you not whiten anything if I'm going to make a purchase. However, if your still dead set on whitening everything, that's fine. I wish you the best in your sale!

PS: In case anyone is wondering, whitening plastic using Retro-Bright or other chemicals makes the plastic more brittle and weakens it's structure. In addition, it doesn't prevent the plastic from yellowing again. I'd strongly recommend against it unless absolutely necessary.  The controller could use some touch ups, but the console looks just fine (Unless the low-res images from one angle was overstated due to the flash.

Hrm... Perhaps you could just send me the images. I'm not concerned about the controller, and just care about the system. If the unit is white enough, you won't even need to do anything. Though, I'm not sure how white these systems start off even to begin with.

Quote from: Frank_fjs on 10/19/2012, 01:20 AMThis is what I wished I had purchased rather than what I got from doujindance, he's charging way too much nowadays and is work is questionable.

Controllers are easy to whiten, doesn't cost much and only takes a few days.

Good luck with the sale! :)
That's why I avoided his auctions. Some people wire up consoles wrong (Such as region mods) which cause some flash cards not to work properly, as well as provide other services which not everyone needs.

I sent in a PM for this unit, and provided everything is on the up and up consider it sold!

To be honest, all I care about is the whiteness, scratches, dirt, and condition of the console. Controllers and other stuff can always be easily replaced. But in regards to the plastics, It seems like perhaps DUO-R cases got upgraded over the regular stuff. I rarely see those yellow over controller and regular PC engines.

Hi Everyone,

I'm a long time reader, but newbie time poster. I'm a generally well known user from AssemblerGames or FamicomWorld for those who know me. Anyhow, for sale today I have a lot of 3 Japanese PC Engine games. All games come with box, manual, and game, though I'm not sure how many include spines or plastic sleeves. Here are the titles:

IMG

At the time I got all of these directly from Japan. The condition of these games typically range from good to well used, but there may be a few exceptions. All items are sold as-is and what you see is what you get. I'm looking to get only a little under $5 per game. That mean I'm only asking: $13.99 + shipping! for the whole lot. Payment can be made by PayPal. Links to Seller/Trading feedback can be provided from AssemberGames and FamicomWorld as needed. I'm sure some of you already know me from there.

Cheers!
#420
Thanks for all the interest. The lot is now sold. Cheers!
#421
Same here. +1 for the raffle, but please don't enter me.
#422
Update: Price reduced again.
#423
So, seeing as how I'm kind of green here I assume he's been caught as a known scammer?

Update: Price reduced!
#425
In all honesty, I appreciate some people like items boxed, but I would hazard a guess a large portion of people care more about the system (and condition) more than the box. In terms of weighing how much to spend anyways. Don't get me wrong, I do feel for pixeljunkie and with him trying to recover his costs, but I don't know if I agree with passing the buck to another PC engine collector just because he had an unfortunate deal. But I do give him +1 for being flexible for sure.
#426
In my humble opinion, the price should include shipping. There are popular Japanese sellers who sell these units RGB modded as well as region modded for around $200. Add $75 for shipping from Japan, and you've got the same asking price. Not trying to detract from this nice console, but it might be why not many people are biting. I'd say since this unit is not RGB modified, it should probably go for about $150 + shipping, or around $200 shipped in the US. Probably about $20-$30 more internationally.
#427
Update: Ok, I'll consider breaking up the collection for trades. :-) Seeing as how we are all collectors here, if you have some thing(s) for trade let me know and I'd be happy to try and work something out.
#428
Hi Everyone,

I was wondering if anyone had complete boot copies of Space Fantasy Zone or Sapphire available for sale or free? I'm interested in these purely for collecting / game play purposes and not for resale or any other kind of shenanigans. If you have any, please feel free to send me a PM.

Cheers!
#429
Ah, thanks. The webpage she has mentions that the device doubles the voltage. Does the PC Engine pipe out 5v? Or does it depend on the cable that you receive for your RGB PC Engine?
#430
Does the PC Engine pipe out 60hz? Or do most of these mods output 50hz to match European standards? In addition, does adding the converter box + Encoder add any kind of lag that would break gameplay?

Update: What would be the official name for the converter box? That is, if one wanted to search for it on eBay?
#431
Well, I know the manuals say to do a soft-reset to bios before shutting down, but I was wondering if there was a more technical reason for doing so. The best answer I can think of is to dis-engage the CD lens and spin down?
#432
Hey Everyone,

I've seen some PC-Engine Duo users do RUN+Select to reset back to the bios menu before powering down or changing games. What purpose does this serve? Is it bad for you to just change games on the fly or power the unit off immediately in some way I'm not aware of?
#433
If you don't mind me asking, how does your PC Engine look like over composite? I know the PC Engine has pretty good composite output, but I was curious as to if it was really that bad or not over an HDTV.
#434
Nope. I haven't gotten any machine. Not yet anyway! But the reason I ask is because most solutions seem to refer to the XRGB-3. While I have no doubt that it's a great product, I'd rather not spend $400 on a solution, if there is something easier. I figure S-Video would be the easy compromise since most HDTV's accept this?

How does a PC Engine look on an HDTV anyway in S-Video or Composite? Does it look as crappy as everyone says it does? Or is that just because people forget how it looks like on a normal TV? I assume people don't like the picture because it gets upscaled and usually looks jagged? Personally I like that, as it appears sharp looking (Though I dunno how TVs upscale the image).

Update: I'd totally go for a component Duo-R, but it looks like most people mod for RGB and not component. (>_<); Unless someone here sells component DUO-R units. But as to PC Engine RGB, I'd probably want to go with RGB/60 (Japanese/NTSC?) since it's faster than RGB/50 (European/PAL?) which is slower?
#435
Hey Everyone,

Assuming you have a PC Engine modified to output RGB (Scart plug), how would one go about connecting this to a regular north American TV? Does it matter if the RGB output is in the Japanese or European format?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
#436
Update: Still available.
#437
I'm also in the market for a Duo R, but I was under the impression all systems require a recap these days. Is that not true? Given the age, I would have assumed so. Unless the white Duo R/RX machines are immune to this problem.
#438
Hey everyone.

I'm a newbie poster, but I've watched the forums for quite a long time. It actually takes a long time just to get approved for registration (So I found), which I rather liked since it keeps the community closer. Anyway, I don't have this game and I'd be really interested in having a look. So I'd like to be +1 for the raffle if possible!

PS: I like how people are honest and indicate it's a boot. So many people don't do that on other forums, so it's rather refreshing!

Doh! NecroPhile post!
#446
UPDATE: There are 35 CD-ROM games and 8 HuCard games. I'd consider letting ether group of games go for their respective price at $5 per game. So that would be $175 for the CD-ROM set, and $40 for the HuCard set. I'd also consider hardware trades as well depending on what you have (Cores, Duo/R/RX, etc). I can probably be more flexible when it comes to hardware trades than software, since $5 per title is already pretty cheap. But I'm really easy going, so feel free to ask if you think you have a good offer. :-)
#447
UPDATED: I removed all the duplicate items from the lot and updated the picture so it's easier to see.
#448
@Everyone: Heh, sorry about not laying them out so people could see. There were so many games I didn't think it would fit. If some people can translate that would be good. I can say that I don't recall seeing Bonk 3 in the collection. There was stuff like Sailor Moon and such, but I don't recall Bonk.
