Quote from: guest on 06/06/2012, 12:15 PMWhy isn't this topic in General Discussion?
Because to noobs TG-16 and eBay are so intrinsically linked they might as well have put eBay's logo right between "HUCard" and "HE System".
And believe it or not, there are a lot of people that consider ebay and "auctions" synonymous.
I lost a bid at a live auction on a box lot of cd's that had some ps1 and turbo games in it. But nothing worth breaking the bank over.

Quote from: Lilgrafx on 06/04/2012, 10:43 PMIf you can go it to options and up the number of lifes I'd allow it, but if you have to put in a code I'm going to say no. Is the game really that hard?
Yeah, I always thought so. The last trek to Gomez is balls

Rhode island has Time Capsule in Cranston and Toy Vault in Warwick
There is a flea market in Cumberland where the retro booth gets turbo games once in a while

Quote from: galam on 06/04/2012, 09:00 PMI bid $18, and it ended at $19.50.
If it makes you feel any better, that doesn't mean that the highest bid was $19.50 - for all you know it could have been a lot higher. That's the way eBay works, the final bid is only ever a few dollars higher than the second closest bid.
Believe me, I've been trying to explain this extremely simple concept to average people for years. Its just not possible.
Oh trust me I get it. 18 was as high as I was going. With shipping it was 22. If it was boxed, I would have gone a bit higher.
I also can't believe I can't find It Came From the Desert for under 30, no box. Ugh

I also lost the Addams Family for NES. I bid 18, it ended at 35. Trust me, that one I got over quickly
#4856
What exactly is meant by "no cheats"?  For instance, I want to dominate Addams family, but that game is nigh impossible without the 79 life code. Do I qualify?
#4857
I was recently outbid on Last Alert and I'm bitter. I bid $18, and it ended at $19.50.

Just today I passed right over it at a charity shop. I never played it, but have come across it quite a bit.

I decided to get Xexyz instead. Same thing, I have never played it before and found out that I should have bought it long ago. It's pretty fun

They also have an iPad app that lets you buy back issues. This is from 2010
But just like all the mags that cover retro, they never give turbo any airtime

So I don't think my $5 offer was excepted either...

Hi my friend !

I'm thinking about accepting your 5$ but I would feel like a thief.
Please, keep the 5$ and only pay for the shipping, as a bonus I will send you all my collection of rare games. I bought all of them from a clown for 5$ + shipping.

Let me know if you are still interested.

balance seemed to be a problem for working designs in general.  I have heard two theories...one, they made games too easy at first, but then realize it and just spike random areas.  Second was that development was very fragmented and didn't quite come together as seamless as needed
#4865
oh, I believe it was at least "teased".  I'll try and find the mag I saw it in
#4866
everybody on this board should send him a $5 offer.
just sent him mine.

oh, and he has hero tonma for 450, complete.  [-X

I haven't read the entire thread, but did anybody mention Strider?  Or was that a load of crap from the beginning?

300/400 and no poster???? Dumb.

Quote from: PikachuWarrior on 05/16/2012, 09:20 PMVay is very frustrating. I just got the second orb. it's literally a grind-fest.
Uh oh, that doesn't give me much confidence. I just found the first orb and it wasn't so bad, but now you have me worried.

Addams Family.

Personally, CF2 is one of my all time favorites. I'm terrible at RPGs, but this one kept a good pace and never became too frustrating (Im looking at YOU Exile 2!).

I wanted to like dragon slayer, and I still want it for my collection, but the lack of spell animations really turned me off. Enemies just flash no matter what type of attack.

As for non-turbo RPGs, I recently started Vay on sega cd. Another working designs title, but is almost like a parody of the genre. Plays similar to CF2 from what I've completed so far (about 3 hours in).  I'm really enjoying the laughs when least expected.

Ugh, this thing brings back terrible memories. I had high hopes for it and picked one up with 15 games for $100. What a piece of shit. No backlight makes it impossible to see and the blur was worse than OG gameboy. I threw the whole lot out in the garbage and the trash man wouldnt even take it
#4873
I guess it needs to be coupled with the frequency that they become available too.
#4874
Rarity is actually objective. The numbers tell the story. Do we know how many copies of these games were sold (or even printed)?

Like, is beyond shadowgate truly rarer than say magical chase?

Quote from: guest on 04/26/2012, 09:21 PMHard to find in the wild at all and very expensive everywhere else: Final Fantasy VII = rare (low supply) and sought after (high demand) game.
FF7, really? Didn't it sell like 10 million copies?
Yeah, I see it regularly for around 15 bucks

Bonk. It was on display to try at a JVC store before release. Sealed the deal.

I'm glad people have enjoyed it. I wasn't sure if I was going to get ripped to shreds for it.

I built this small site as a labor of love to my top 10 Turbo CD games.  You will certainly not agree with all of them, deal with it.  :D

Instructions:
1.  There is ONE place on each screen that you need to click in order to advance
2.  Follow the not-so-difficult clue on each screen
3.  You can try refreshing each screen if things don't seem to look or work properly.  I suck at web design.

I've been looking for a pick-up-and-play RPG the last month and came across Vay for sega CD. Great fun, leave it to working designs to fill that hole!

Quote from: SignOfZeta on 04/01/2012, 08:23 PMThe SNES and Genesis cost $200 less. That's pretty much all that mattered.
Honestly, I bet if Turbo was the ONLY system on the market, they still couldn't get out of their own way.

Does anybody else think that a big mistake was made when the Duo launched with all the killer apps?
To give away Bonk 1 and 2, GOT, Y's, a chip (in my case Ninja Spirit), and pre-load Bomberman really was a nail in the coffin.
One of those games, (my vote would be GOT) alone could have been packed in, but all those was just crazy.  It's hard to understand what the purpose of the Duo was in the first place.  Same tech as 4 years prior, the brand bleeding cash, and still nothing invested in localizing the games which I think ultimately posed too wide of a gap for the spoon fed "radical" generation of kids.
Also, I HATE the damn coupon book.  Too many turbo boxes hanging around out there with a cut out UPC.   [-X

What else do you think accelerated the Duo's demise?

Quote from: Lilgrafx on 04/01/2012, 10:47 AMWelcome to the forums that's quite a collection you've got, how long have you been collecting?
I have had the Duo since release, and collection was much bigger about 10 years ago.  I got out of it a bit and sold quite a few when I saw what they were getting on EBay at the time.  Glad I held onto what I did, only 1 or 2 regrets on the games that are gone.

Let me start by saying hello and let you know that I have been looking for a forum like this for quite some time.
Turbo discussions are hard to come by and are often tucked away in general video game forums where you're lucky if people post once a month, and it's generally drivel.

I found this site from a google search looking for a Gate of Thunder CD insert.  Needless to say, I found a great one here and wanted to sign up.

Lately, I've been spending a lot of time scouring thrift stores and flea markets hoping to find a score of 'bob.  Recently found a TG16 and 7 boxed games for $35 (couldn't pass that up).  However, my time spent on gaming has significantly reduced so that's one place I certainly need improvement.

Anyway, here is my small collection if anybody cares to see it (looking for Dragon Slayer and It Came from the Dessert).
Thanks for having me!
