Quote from: Johnpv on 09/16/2016, 01:03 PMI have not been to that one, have you been to the arcade that popped up in morristown right off the green.  Alot of good games and priced pretty fairly.
No, haven't heard of that one. What's the name?
Maybe I'll check it out thus weekend.
Yestercades is great. I think over 60 games in Somerville, byob past 9pm, and it's all free play, but u pay $9  per hour. They have a ton of consoles too.

Ha!   Flanders is literally 5 mins from me.
Yeah, i think you're right.  A lot of cool retro shops popping up.
Yestercades in Summerville is f'n awesome too!

Just finished watched the League.  Hilarious!
Plus just watched all season of It's Always Sunny.   A bit more depraved, but just as good.

Trying to catch up on Fear the Walking Dead....pretty lame so far.
Also want to catch up on the Strain.

Can't wait for Luke Cage and Iron Fist.  Hopefully as good as DD and JJ.

How the F did i miss this??!   It's right around the corner from me....i'm out in Mount Olive NJ.
Damn!
Maybe next year......

Just picked up and started playing Dropoff.    Kind of a cool mix of superbreakout meets bejeweled.   A little addictive, but I'm finding it fairly difficult.   It's pretty fun to put on for a few minutes and play a quick game.

Ha!   That's awesome - Radioshack!
I used to work at Radioshack back in the late 90"s during high school and college.  I remember that most stores didn't carry systems or games in stock, but the customer had to order it into the store.   I remember selling the PS1 system and games, but not the TG16.  Guess it was just easier to go to TRU to pick up a game rather than order it....haha.

Thanks for the insight.
I think i'll skip the cap replacement for now.    "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" works for me.

Quote from: SignOfZeta on 09/09/2016, 01:27 AMYeah, leave the kit on the shelf until the thing actually fails. Then go get the caps from the shelf and throw those away because they will have failed too, then order another kit.
Quote from: Keith Courage on 09/08/2016, 10:56 PMI wouldn't bother changing the Caps if it still works fine. I have yet to come across a u.s. turbo grafx with bad caps.
OK, thanks.
These things don't have a long life if not in use?    I'm not too familiar with them.   I did find this tho:  http://www.tivocommunity.com/tivo-vb/archive/index.php/t-491454.html

As i was writing this, Luke from Console5.com wrote to me and gave me this link:

the increased voltage tolerances won't be a problem.  You can always go up in voltage (to an extent) with electrolytic caps.  More on the topic in the wiki:
https://console5.com/wiki/Installing_Capacitor_Kits#Note_about_Console5_Cap_Kits_.26_Voltages

Sound advice?

Hey gusy - looking for some advice on the TG16 cap kit from Console5.com.

So, I purchased a cap kit for the Turbografx 16 a few months back and finally had some time to sit down with them since i was doing a region mod on my system and had it open last night.
When looking through the parts, i noticed that the caps don't match the schematics shown here:  https://console5.com/wiki/TurboGrafx_16
Specifically, the Voltage values don't match up as shown.
Is it OK to use different voltage caps?
Should i even replace them if the system works fine?  Or should I just set them aside and wait til something goes?

Thanks!

Was playing Dragon's Curse last night (PCE Adventure Island - just installed my Obey chip :)
It's cool, but pretty easy and boring to start.  Didn't get into too far, so I'll guess I'll give it another go tonight or tomorrow.

Took me a minute to get into it since the menus and selects in the beginning are all Japanese....LOL

I get a 403 Forbidden when I try the site :(

Just ran across these on your site.  Man they look sweet.   Gonna have to put an order in soon.  What is the turnaround time on making them to order?

Quote from: spawnshop on 02/07/2016, 01:55 PMSo if i understand correctly, the switchless chip does not work on consoles ATM?
I have a US TG16, so i would need to install a switch as well, correct?
That is correct.  It require you ran a wire directly to the select button.  You can't do that on the home consoles.
So I finally had the time to sit down and install the V3 Obey - man, works like a charm!  :)
Now I gotta pick up some PCE games!!
#17
Wow, never thought about them for unreleased titles.   That's awesome!
Does anyone know what cards exist for unreleased titles?
#18
These are my thoughts as well.   I kind of like the idea of collecting them (as esteban says, the collectard in me), but the prices are just nuts for cardboard inserts.
#19
List updated.....not much left to trade, but still looking for a lot on my wish list.
#20
Could use some of those manuals.....not much to trade though.
Would you consider selling them?

Just curious if anyone collects the VIDPRO CARDs from Toys R Us for their games?
I saw a few on ebay, but $15+ per card seems like a lot to me.   Thoughts?

I would love to see this happen!  I heard about this about a year ago and didn't get my hopes up.  Although, with movies like IDR, it's a possibility! :)

Dinosaur Jr rocks!   Love those guys!

Recently I picked up a record player and started collecting some vinyl.   Just got an awesome copy of Temple of the Dog and the original Ghostbusters soundtrack.   They sound awesome!!

Awesome!   If you like part 2 or AOD, you'll love it.   It's very much a mix of the two.  Although, there is no mention of AOD due to licensing issues.

Season to start very soon!!!  October 2!

Saw the premier episode at SDCC last month - totally awesome and disgusting.   Bruce came out and did an introduction before hand.   Hilarious!

Finally picked up a copy of Devil's Crush and was playing that yesterday for a hour or so.   How many pinball games are there on the TG16?!   LOL!

I've been meaning to pick this up and play it before this week.   Haven't gotten a copy yet.
May end up getting the PCE version and try to play through that.
Looks great though.

So i picked up a TG16 unit, untested.
Turned it on, and white screen.   On all games.

Well, after opening it up, it seems it had already been open.    The one thing i did notice is that the main board is cracked on the back left corner, and some of the traces were severed.
I patched them with wires, and also replaced the voltage regulator just in case.
But still, white screen.

I will post some pics when i can, but anyone have any ideas?   Could i have burned something out by turning the system on with severed traces?
Anyone know where i can find a schematic for the main board to repair the traces?

Or do i just call this DOA and use it for parts?

Quote from: wilykat on 12/24/2015, 07:28 PMThe only benefit GSP has is to seller, they are covered if the package are lost or damaged. Seller loses nothing but IMO it's just for the lazy seller who doesn't give a fuck if a rare MISB Cotton arrives intact or if the idiot drones ripped the box open and shipped just the game to save money.
I wouldn't count on that.  I recently shipped a statue via GSP and it arrived slightly damaged due to shipping.  The buyer filed for a refund, even though i don't offer refunds on collectibles and vintage stuff. ebay/paypal immediately rips the cash from my account and then asks for me to answer some questions. then they say if it is damaged in shipping to let them know.  i did so, and the didn't give a sh!t.  got an email stating they "sided with the buyer" and that i had to refund his money, plus pay for the return shipping!
Ebay is all about the buyers, not the sellers.
Damn, just read this.  That sucks man.  I was always under the belief that if the item got to ebay fine you were absolved of later damage but I guess not.  Were you unable to show pictures that it was fine shape before or something?  Hope it didn't hit you too bad.
Nope, even after pics of the item before and after damage, and pics of the busted box, ebay still f'd me.   Luckily the buyer was nice about it and we worked out a deal, but i still lost like $25 in the end.  Oh well.....

Tonight i was playing Ordyne, Bravoman, Dragon Spirit, and Time Cruise.

Time Cruise is cool if you just want to chill....had a lot of fun with it.
Bravoman just plain sucks.  The controls are horrible.
Dragon Spirit is a lot of fun, but I'm not too good at it.  Couldn't even get past lvl 1!  Haha!

I was playing Ordyne the most.  Was a ton of fun.  Think i only got to stage 3 or 4, but it was a blast.  I like the feel of it.

Quote from: spawnshop on 02/07/2016, 02:31 PMI want to get one!

I'm currently using this converter:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00D86UYBS?keywords=scart%20to%20hdmi&qid=1449860605&ref_=sr_1_1&sr=8-1

It works great for my SEGA Genesis, Saturn, PS1, etc. and other consoles on my Samsung TV.  For those consoles i use a CSynce cable.  Do I need to regular cable you offer?  (No sync strip, correct?)

Also, if i install this in the core US T16 unit, will the CD and docking system play through it?  Or do i still have to use the AV Composite on the docking unit?
The regular cable I have, with composite video for sync, would work fine.

If you install in a TG16 then you still can use RGB on the CD games.  You just need to get sound out of the dock.  The way I would do it though would be to install it in the dock so you dont have to use 2 cables.  You would have to rig something up to splice the audio and video back together before your converter, but it wouldnt be too difficult.
Cool, thanks for the tips!   I'm OK with getting sound from the Dock.  The extra cable isn't an issue.
But I'm assuming that would only be the CD games and that the hucards would be OK from the core system?
