12/23/2024: Localization News - Team Innocent

PC-FX Localization for Team Innocent is released, a pre-Christmas gift!! In a twist, it feels like the NEC PC-FX got more attention in 2024 than any other time I can remember! Caveat: The localizers consider the "v0.9" patch a BETA as it still faces technical hurdles to eventually subtitle the FMV scenes, but they consider it very much playable.

I'm thinking I may opt for an ever drive so I can also check out some pce games without having to buy them individually.

Hi there.  I have had a drought recently with picking up anything for Turbografx, or any system for that matter.  I still get joy out of hearing that others are expanding their libraries.  What is new to you recently?

Down to the last couple of games I am actively seeking.  There will be others down the road after I put more time into these ones.

I bet there are plenty more of these to pop up at a premium.

Where I grew up which isn't exactly a small town all I can remember is nintendo and sega.  To be entirely honest I think my cousin had a sega Saturn and another cousin had a sega cd.  Those were about as obscure as I ever saw.

I still have the first issue of NEXT Generation magazine from the mid 90s and they showed off all of the fringe systems like 3do, neo George cd etc.  I remember reading about them all in magazines but none of the stores up here carried them.

Hi there.  Not sure if this has been discussed before
I am wondering where if anywhere was turbografx a popular system during its production.  I know so many folks say they never knew anyone who had one growing up.  I am in that pool as well.  Honestly I am not even sure they made it to stores local to me.  Today I can search retro stores local to me and occasionally find a copy of TV sports football or Keith courage.  I am assuming those are all coming in from folks who had doubles from their ebay hauls.  Thoughts?

Wife just told me to stop being so cheap and spend a few bucks on myself.  Ready to buy.  Might also be able to trade if anyone is interested in non turbo items.

Quote from: esteban on 07/25/2016, 08:32 AM^ In addition to Boxyboy, you might try Timeball (Blodia). It's a puzzle game that many people trash, but it is actually a great game.
I am adding that to my list now.  Thanks for the recommendation.

Quote from: TurboXray on 07/07/2016, 12:05 PMMy son has played through the PC remakes of Ys I & II (way too many times), and the DS version (cringe), and now.... he's playing through the TGCD version. Kinda nice to sit back and watch the playthrough.
This game was a big reason I bought the PCE. It was also the first game I beat on the system.

On another note, I finally got around to beating Neutopia. I started drinking and beat the last 3 dungeons in one sitting. Unfortunately, I was quite drunk by the time I got to the boss in the 8th dungeon and couldn't beat him. Anyway, a couple days later I went back and beat the final two bosses, easy.

Thinking about starting Dragon's Curse next. Either that or Ys IV.
I just recently started neutopia.  Beat the first 2 dungeons but haven't had much time to get back into it yet.  I've also been playing some boxy boy.  Love me some puzzles.

Quote from: esteban on 07/22/2016, 08:51 AMOne thing I will always fight folks on...the NA TG-16 hardware is not ugly. The Genesis/MegaDrive especially with a cart in...is just a goofy looking thing (a giant wart). Even the ugly SNES looks better (a first-aid kit for preschoolers).

The NA TG-16 suffers from being a *curiously  elongated* (that's a fancy way of saying "stretched") version of the PCE we cherish.

Thoughts from the DBLbruno?
This is an interesting topic...
I love the looks of older consoles.  I think most electronics from the 80s and 90s had a lot of character.  They are like teens going through puberty- very awkward and trying to find themselves...

For the snes I like the design of the mini though I will say the feel is a bit on the cheap side.  I like the stand alone model 2 Genesis however I will admit that the model 1 with Sega cd attached is a very good look.  As for the tg16 I agree that the pcengine looks sleeker but it doesn't bother me too much.

Like I mentioned.  I think they all have their own character.

Quote from: Gredler on 07/22/2016, 03:42 AMDoes this forum have a lot of clout on other forums or on social media as being a place where lots of games are waiting to be sold?
Quite the opposite.  I was told by multiple people to expect an immediate outpouring of rude responses but I like to form my own opinions based on my own experiences.  Plus it never hurts to ask.

I should also add that I have a copy of neutopia with case and manual for trade if that is of any use to anyone.

Thanks.
There is actually another thread a new member started with Lots of trade bait and stuff for sale. To lazy to look it up. But he has something like 39 doubles. Probably find some of what you want there.
Thank you for letting me know.  I'm checking the thread out now.

Looking for the following...

Soldier blade and dead moon sparky labels.  If I can't find these I will eventually just buy a set of them.

Dead moon manual
