I would love to play this game.  But like it has been mentioned, there are plenty of other games out there to keep you busy while you wait for this game to be finished.  I was just simply asking about the game because I haven't seen any mention of it or any updates on how the translation is going.  Shame there has to be drama involved with such a small group of people working on it.

You can come and criticize me, but the realities are what they are and this has been seen a thousand times, that is seen with a game like the xanadu is a real drama.
And the real drama is the four imbeciles here criticizing that it is simply said, that it was not realistic to do the dubbing.
But he licks asses everywhere.

Maybe one day, and I'll go back to complete the 2, and the big ass ass licks will not play or 5 min, as always, on the Internet everyone has a very big mouth.
Reading all that just gave me a headache.   ](*,)

Quote from: guest on 03/05/2017, 10:58 AMSilver Star is an unrealized vision of a game that never materialized and is very rough in the WD and Japanese games.

Silver Star Story for Saturn is a lot of fun and very cool and Complete is the best cersion of the game.

The Playstation versions of Complete are botched pretty bad and a pain to play in comparison. Heavily downgraded visuals, long loading and misc.
Never knew this.  After the Sega CD, I sort of gave up on Sega altogether and never bought one of their systems since.  Glad I never fell for the 32X.  I did enjoy the PS1 version though.  I've never played Lunar 2.  Was never able to find a copy in stores when it came out.  One day I'll get around to picking up a copy.

General Gaming / Lunar(SCD) Vs. Lunar(PS1)
03/05/2017, 10:30 AM
I own both of these games.  I bought the one for the SCD when it first came out.  Yes, I own a Sega CD.   ](*,)  Loved the game.  The Intro at the time blew me away.  The cut scenes were great, and the soundtrack was damn good.  I thought the humor in the game was great as well, even though Working Designs had to tone it back some for the U.S.   Just a shame that the final boss had some kind of glitch where he wouldn't attack you for some reason.  Maybe it was just my copy that did it, I don't know.  But he just stood there and did nothing while you beat on him.  I played it multiple times and it was always the same thing.

Then along came the updated version for the PS1.  New Intro and everything else got a face lift.  Soundtrack was cleaned up, voice acting was much much better.  And the cut scenes were all redone.  And one thing I loved about this game was that they actually changed up the storyline.

SPOILERS: Making it where this time around Luna goes with you on the boat instead of staying behind was a shock.

I know there is really no comparison.  It's like comparing Blu-ray to DVD.  The SCD version had it's charm and the intro was great for the time.  But Working Designs instead of just porting the old copy over to the PS1 and calling it good, went back and remade this game from beginning to end.  Just a shame they closed their doors over 10 years ago.  We have Sony to thank for that.  I know they started over with a new brand name.  But it's just not the same.

What I want to know is why in all the other Castlevania games the pocket watch is useful in some parts of the game, but in Rondo the watch is pretty much useless?  It doesn't stop everything like it does in the other games, only slows the enemy down.  And the heart consumption for each use is a joke and not even worth it.
#10
We played it for a good number of levels, but having to start every dungeon with level 1 characters and equipment started to get old.  The story and ending for each dungeon was quite dull as well.  My son was really enjoying the game though.  So we said the hell with it and got the password to play Dungeon 22.  Just the last Dungeon alone took forever to get to the boss.

Quote from: guest on 02/26/2017, 03:36 PMHey just curious. I recently played through rondo again for a 100% run, and i'm just curious how many deaths you had. I certainly don't think it's a ball breaking game, but i also don't think it's easy either. To me, compared to other action platformers released at this time i would say it's a tad harder than the average?? I found myself dying at least twice from the harder bosses figuring out their patterns. But I would definitely say it's subpar difficulty stacked up to the other games in the Castlevania series.

Sera was the only maiden i had problems finding, even though i knew where she was. Whenever i tried to break the blocks to get to her on the next screen, they wouldn't break. So i assumed i had to do something later in the level. After much back & forth i eventually found you have to break the top rock first, then work your way down lol. Something i totally forgot since my last play through
I only died a handful of times.  First time I died was fighting the dragon on the bridge.  Just trying to get a feel for the game and getting down the right spot to be in when it does its wrapping itself around the bridge attack.  First fight with Shaft was interesting.  Having to fight 4 mini-bosses before fighting him gave me a little bit of trouble.  Especially the Mummy.  But for the most, I either took out a boss on the first or second try.  Some were just down right too easy with the right Weapon Crash.  As for levels, Ghost Ship and Clock Tower were the biggest pains.  Clock Tower for the simple fact of the collapsing bridge with the damn bats coming at you from both ways.  Wouldn't have been so bad if they didn't take two hits from the whip to kill.

Sera was the last one I found as well.  The rest were pretty easy to find.  But the stairway for Sera blended into the background so well, I over looked it the first time I checked out that area.

I enjoyed the game.  I was just bummed at how easy Drac was.  I would say the Rondo battle is second easiest to fighting Drac in Simon's Quest

Quote from: Keith Courage on 02/25/2017, 08:02 PMI like this game. My only gripe would be that your character doesn't continue from dungeon to dungeon with the same exp and weapons. Feels like starting over each map. Because of this I feel like I don't have as much invested in the main character.

Music is good even though it's the same song over and over and over again.  Well except for shops and boss battles that is.

Co-op play is great since fighting the boss together helps.
Yea.  We just realized this playing through the first dungeon.  And the fact that in order to play level 22 you have to play through all 21 of the other dungeons to get a piece of the password to unlock level 22.  What a nightmare.

So, I just got my hands on a copy of this and have plans to sit down with my 14 year old son and play it.  Ever since I got my Turbo Duo back up and running he has taken an interest in the system.  But that's a story for another time.

So how is this game?  Long game?  Worth playing?  Does it have an end or is it like Gauntlet that has no ending?

Quote from: vacantplanets on 02/19/2017, 09:13 PMI never tried it, but all you have to do is open TocFixer.ini with notepad and set "WaveResizeLimitInSeconds=" to whatever you want.
That's all fine if I understood what it means.  In the notepad it's set to 3 right now.  Not sure what the 3 equals.  Can I just use 0 to make it unlimited?
#17
I should mention that when I used Tocfixer before I changed the length of the music file it said that it was too big of a file and aborted the repair.  But, that I could go into Tocfixer's settings and change the size limit allowed or something like that.  I've looked and can't figure out where these changes could be done.  Of course it did say that it might screw things up if they were changed.  But after looking at the length of some of the game tracks, they really aren't that long which sucks.
#18
So after all the headache, PDragon was right.  The track has to be the same length as the original.  Now, I did this with the original game file and not the Perfect Arrangement game file.  So I'm not sure if that had anything to do with it.  I do want to look an see if the PA music files stayed the same length or if he extended them when he added the other music.
#19
Quote from: vacantplanets on 02/19/2017, 03:07 PMThat's fine about the zeros. That's what it's supposed to be when it's all extracted like that in a ISO/WAV/CUE format. If it was in a BIN/CUE format, the CUE sheet would look different.

Okay, so I suppose you could try changing the track's length to match the one that was working. If you have to do that, then it wouldn't be a bad idea to add a 15 second fade out like Paranoia Dragon said. I would just use Audacity to edit the track. It's just the menu music anyway, not a big deal, haha.

Btw, what are you using to test it? Ootake or some other emulator? You're not burning CD-Rs right?
I'm going to try and DL the original game file and try changing some of the music and see what happens.  If I get the same results, I'll try matching track times.  What I don't understand is why all the music tracks aren't listed for the game.  Like the pre-boss room music is awful but it's not a music file.

Interesting.  So I opened it with Notepad.  But there are no times for the tracks.  All the tracks have 0's for times.  Maybe it's just this game file itself.  Anyways, I'm just trying to figure out how to change the music files.  I'm not going to have you go through all the trouble for just one track.  If I can figure this out, I would like to change almost every track which is the goal.

You have to open the cue file with Notepad.

Like I said though,  I'll try to figure it out and I'll upload it for you if I can. I have the perfect arrangement version. What track do you want to use as a replacement? The original menu music? Which track number is it?

Quote from: vacantplanets on 02/18/2017, 10:22 PMWell since you have to select the folder your game files are in, it uses that one; it doesn't put the cue in a different folder. To be safe just remove the cue file from that folder and have it generate a new one.
Removed the CUE file before making a new one.  Checked the other WAV files and compared them to the one I'm using as a replacement and it matches channels, 44100 KHz and 16-Bit of the other WAV files.  Still messes up the music in the game.

Btw, it's going to show errors for all the files that aren't the original ones from the game. I just use that program to quickly generate a cue sheet. I never had to worry about the other stuff.
When you use TocFixer, does it fix and replace the old file or does it create a new CUE file in a new folder?  I'm assuming it replaces the old file.

The music in Bloodlines is fine, I don't remember Curse of Darkness though... My favourite Castlevania Soundtrack might actually be the Adventure Rebirth for the Wii though, now THAT's a good soundtrack if I ever heard one!

As far as Gameplay goes, I'm not a big fan of the Metroidvanias, and I have only played the N64 games as far as 3D Castlevania goes, and well, they were rubbish... (But to be fair, Legacy of Darkness was a step in the right direction)
To me, real Castlevania is the classic linear stage-based style, I'll pick the worst linear Castlevania over the best Metroidvania any day...
I don't mind the Metroidvania games.  They were fun for what they were.  But I agree, I preferred the old style.  Curse of Darkness was for the Xbox.  You didn't play as a Belmont but as a Demon Forger.  Music in that game was some of the best.  Especially the music when you fight Trevor Belmont.  http://www.vgmuseum.com/mrp/multi/mp3s4.htm#cod  Loved the Lords of Shadow games.  Second one wasn't as good as the first though.  Just a shame about the direction Konami is going in.  Makes me wonder about the future of Castlevania.

Quote from: Michirin9801 on 02/18/2017, 02:41 PMBut you see, the one thing I like better in SNES Dracula X than in Rondo of Blood is the sound and music... I've made it no secret that I'm very biased towards the Super Nintendo sound, I think it's the best-sounding game system there ever was (and most likely there ever will be), and Dracula X is one of the more impressive-sounding games on the system, the sheer quality of the samples being used is something else, and there was pretty much no loss in composition detail in the transition from CD music to the SNES, but the SNES somehow managed to sound considerably more hype and bombastic than the CD counterpart...
You know how many times I've listened to the CD soundtrack outside of the game? Not even once... As for the SNES version? There was a time that I've listened to it almost every day, it gives me the chills and puts an ear-to-ear nostalgia grin on my face~

Quote from: guest on 02/18/2017, 02:44 PMIf you were in no hurry to buy the best Castlevania game because of price, how the hell did you wind up with Haunted Castle, the 68K game, etc?
I'm not sure what you mean.  When I got my hands on Haunted Castle($150), arcade machines weren't overpriced like they are now.  The machine itself was in bad shape, which I scraped a long time ago.  I have the PCB, NOS side art(which by the way people keep trying to buy it off me it seems I'm the only person that owns any) and marquee I plan down the line to makes its own dedicated cabinet for which it never had.  Hell, I own Splatterhouse as well and only paid $130 for that BitD.

Like I said, I was in no hurry to get it since my Duo wasn't working for the longest time.  Plus considering what I was making at my job years ago compared to the job I have now, I have more money to play with.

I completed Rondo of Blood 100%.  It wasn't that hard of a game.  None of the bosses were.  Only level I had trouble with was Stage 7 in the beginning.
#30
Up until a few weeks, I owned every Castlevania game made EXCEPT Akumajō Dracula X: Chi no Rondo.  I even own the arcade machine Haunted Castle, as painful as that game is.  I guess the reason I was in no hurry to get my hands on Akumajō Dracula X: Chi no Rondo was either the price it was going for or that my Turbo Duo was broke for quite some time and had just forgotten about it.

After all this time, I finally got my hands on a copy and couldn't wait to play it.  For years, all I heard was how much better it was compared to the SNES version.  It was harder, the music was better, it was just an overall better game.

Well, I will say the music is better for sure.  When you pit a CD up against a Cart, I would hope the music would be better on the CD.  As far as being harder, I thought the game was too easy.  Hell, I beat Dracula on the first try.  The only thing I found difficult in the game was the damn collapsing bridge on Stage 7.  It's the same BS they pull on the last stage of Haunted Castle.  Almost impossible to not get hit.  The secret areas weren't hard to find.  I found myself going through the Alternate routes before the normal ones.

I'm not trying to compare the two games since they are almost completely different.  But playing through Dracula X first and then going through Akumajō Dracula X: Chi no Rondo expecting it to be the same, just more of a challenge, I was bummed out.  Love both games though.

Quote from: ParanoiaDragon on 02/16/2017, 03:33 AMI'm sure he means that tracks play in the wrong levels &/or start in the middle of the track!  IIRC, I had this on Bonk 3 CD, lot's of wierdness when replacing tracks, same goes for Legion.  Sylphia on the otherhand can be done without screwing up the placement of the tracks.  I was able to do that Hard Rock version, though I did have Bonknuts do a lil' finagling with the final boss, so that there would be an extra track.  I don't recall any problems replacing tracks in general on the game.
Dragon nailed it.  Music plays on the wrong levels, or starts in the middle of the track, or cuts off and starts playing something else.

For Rondo of Blood, I have all the music files in WAV format separate.  Then there are two ISO files, a TOC file and the CUE file.  I tried to take a music file, change it to WAV and rename it exactly the same as the one I was replacing.  It didn't work.  I only did this for one music file and yet it messed up all the music in the game.  I figured it would have been a simple renaming the new file with the old file name.  Guess not that simple.

You must get disappointed by games a lot.

Salamander, Steam Hearts, Darius, Side Arms, Sapphire, Burning Angels, Psycho Chaser, Twinbee, Cotton, Soldier Blade, Rock On... are there any games without misleading titles?

You can also do this against the first boss as a way to safely jump over him without taking damage.
I think everybody did this.  To this day when I play the game I still do.

So, I was looking at one of the ROM sites to make a back up copy of Rondo of Blood and came across one set that changed the soundtrack and used the Perfect Arrangement music instead.  I like the choice in music except for the menu music.  I know you can't just rename the new music with the original's file name.  Already tried that and it just screws up all the music.  Just wondering what exactly you need to do when changing music files?

Always enjoyed the NES version back when it came out.  Always been a fan of the DD games, except for the third one.  That one was clearly made just to milk you of your quarters.  Double Dragon was the second arcade machine that I bought when I started collecting them.  Just got done playing DD2 for the PC Engine and I have to say I enjoyed it a lot more than the NES version.  It was easy for sure.  Made it though the game on my first try.  But I have to say I like how the game handles and looks.  And the cut scenes just make the game even better.  Looking back at who made DD2 for the NES, Acclaim was never really good at making great games.  They made good games, but nothing I can remember that I would call great.  Now Sunsoft on the other hand, they made great NES games.
