Buy/Sell/Trade / Re: DUO-RX For Sale
12/01/2009, 03:46 PM
OK everyone, I am retarded.  It's been so long since I played it, I forgot the red light doesn't come on unless the disc is in use.  Of course I had the TV set to the wrong input, so I panicked and thought the console wasn't on.  The unit works perfect.  I'm a dum dum.  So yes, it is still for sale.  I'm thinking about $200 shipped in the US.  It is in great shape and includes the original instructions.  If you are interested, I'm restarting dibs as of today, so please PM me. You can see pics of it in action below

Sorry guys, I've been dealing with some personal stuff.  Anyway, I got the DUO-RX out to take some pics, and I found a problem.  It won't turn on!  It worked great last time I used it, about a year ago.  What can I check?  Is this a common problem?

Due to me being unemployed for a few months now, it's time to start selling some toys.  1st up is a complete PC Engine CD-ROM2, and interface unit. All complete with boxes.

Yeah, I did't think there were any pressed bootlegs, I just wanted to make sure.  It wasn't really a "great" deal, but the buy it now was much lower then most on eBay, it just got me thinking.
#6
It's not a CDR that's for sure.  Here are pics

Has Rondo been bootlegged yet?  I got a good deal on eBay for a copy and it looks legit, but I want to make sure.
#8
I just put them up for what I've sen others sell for in the past.  I know they aren't very useful for playing when you can get 3.0 or Arcade cards, but maybe someone needs these to fill out a collection?

$35 shipped?

These days, who doesn't have access to a digi cam?  You can get a very cheap one for under $50.  Almost all mobile phones have them these days...

CD-ROM system 1.0 and 2.1 HuCards for sale.  Good condition, cards only. $40 each, shipped.
#11
Also, has Dracula X been bootlegged like Sapphire has?  Because this same seller seems to list a copy of Dracula X complete with spine card almost every week...
#12
Well, I just ordered a new motor with the hopes that will fix the problem.

Also, I confirmed that the eBay seller knew the unit didn't work.  In the orginal auction he said the it was "untested" because he didn't have an AC adapter.  Now he is listing an IFU-30 with PC Engine and AC adapter, but of course no CD-ROM2.  What a scumbag.  His user id is bioforce.  Watch out for this guy.

It doesn't spin at all.   :(
#14
Oh and cozzie, do you still have that Ninja Sprit for sale?  I sent you a PM but never heard back.
#15
Quote from: cozzieMy brother had the same problem with his, I took it apart and wound the spindle back controling the laser and hey presto it works!!

Can you be a bit more specific?  If I move the laser assembly all the way to the back when it's powered off, it moves to the start posion when I power on, but the disc won't spin.  Does this sound like the same problem?  What spindle are you talking about?
#16
Yeah, I know.  But I've been lucky in the past buying "untested" hardware

Anyway, how hard would it be to swap the case of the new one onto the old one?
#17
I bought a spare CDROM unit for my briefcase on eBay.  The auction described it as "untested".  Well, it won't spin any discs.  I'm bummed because it is very clean and in mint condition, not yellow at all.  Is there anything I can try?
#18
I recently got a CD-ROM2 set-up with the interface unit.  It seemed to work fine, but now I notice that the CD audio is somewhat scratchy.  Not all the time, just on the high parts of the music.  It's hard to describe.  I happens with games or with audio CD's.  When I plug headphones directly to the CD-ROM, it sounds clean and perfect, so it must be a problem with the IFU-30 interface unit.  I have the special bit to take out the screws, but I would have no idea what to check for.  Anybody have any ideas?

Does anybody have any experiance with midwest-games.com?  i placed an order 2 weeks ago and have not recieved it, and my emails are bouncing back as undeliverable.

Buy/Sell/Trade / WTB: Ninja Spirit Hu-Card

Do you still have this?  I sent you a PM but didn't hear back...
#21
Do you ship to the US?  I'm interested in Ninja Spirit, but the auction says UK only.  Send me a PM if you just want to sell it outright.

Quote from: TEKWRXI just got a briefcase setup

It's called an Interface Unit (just so you know).

I know that. "Briefcase" is just a nickname for the system

Thanks for the info guys!  That did the trick!  Everything seems to be working.  I was a bit nervous because all the items were bought in a used game shop in Japan in the "junk" section.  The ICU30 was 1980 yen with a mint box, the CDROM2 was also 1980 yen with a mint box, and the loose PCE was w/controler was 500 yen.  Not a bad score!  Of course I paid a little more then that to let my contact in Japan make a few bucks, but for under $100 shipped for a complete briefcase set-up with boxes, I think i did OK.

Let me ask you guys this, should I now sell my mint DUO-RX that I bought a few weeks ago and just use the briefcase?  What would you guys do?
#24
Are you a member of unerground-gamer.com?  There is a massive pc engine torrent up right now with about 90 cd games in it.  If you need an invite, let me know.
#25
I just got a briefcase setup from a friend in Japan, and the unit won't power on.  What things should I look for?  I think it may be the ac adapter because if I plug it directly into the CD-ROM unit, that won't come on either.  I'm going to radio shack to look for a universial ac adapter and see if that fixes it.  What else should I check?  I think I'm turning it on right, I just lift up the little lever in the fron and then switch on the PC Engine itself, right?

#26
No, I think you still need the Arcade Card.  maybe one of the experts can chime in here.  I know Sappire won't work on my DUO-RX
#27
I think those games require the Arcade Card Duo, right?
#28
I'm not worried about burn in, that's rare on a CRT tube.  Heck, my 53" Panasonic rear projection has the bars in black during SD programs and it's been running for a few years with no signs of burn-in.

Anyway, I'm off to google to see if I can find out how to access the service menu on my Samsung
#29
I've gotten used to the "strech".  That Samsung set sucks.  I wouldn't mind if the bars were black, but they are gray and really distracting.  And everytime I turn off the TV, it forgets that I set it to 4:3 mode and then I have to dig ito the menus to change it back.  It's such a pain.  I only got the set for my bedroom because it was an open box model at Sears and was almost half off.  I couldn't pass that deal up.

Thanks to forum member neokellyzero, I am now an official PC-Engine owner!  I've been playing Rondo all afternoon.  So much better then emulation!  The RX pad feels nice in the hand, now I just have to wait for the extension cord I ordered.  :P

Thanks for your advice.  Yeah, I've been looking at ebay a lot.  I'm sure that's where my system will come from.  I'm just waiting for Paypal to refund my money 1st.  The $400 wasn't just for the PC-Engine.  The briefcase system was only $135, I also bought a famicom, super famicom, and a bunch of games...
#35
Well, it's been a week now and I still have not gotten my money back.  It's almost $400!  Sometime I really hate Paypal...

Buy/Sell/Trade / WTB: PCE DUO-R or RX
08/12/2006, 12:08 PM
Looking for a DUO-R/RX.  Prefer in the USA.  Looking to buy ASAP

Quote from: TronStill you can all ways send a... international postal money order to them as a second form of payment.

Yeah, I'm sure i'll just send them a money order, I just hate waiting.  I "re-discovered" PCE/TG16 a few days ago and I'm wanting to play a "real" system.  Although emulation on my PSP is holding me over

By the way, I'm from MD too (now in FL), I miss it up there...
#38
Well this sucks.  It looks like Paypal "froze" japangamestock's account.  They opened a 2nd account, but they froze that too.  I'll be getting my money back, but I'm still bummed.

What are some other good online shops for PCE/Famicom stuff, in Japan or elsewhere, that take Paypal?
#39
Quote from: Ninja SpiritWhen PC Engine brief case and Dracula X go in the same sentence, there is one intercepting question: Did you pick up a System Card 3.0 or Arcade Card Duo?

Yeah, the set came with system card 3.0
#40
Thanks for all the replies.  I've been reading around and have a good handle on what games to pick up.

The CD-R thing has me worried though.  One of the big reasons for picking up the console was to play Dracula-X.  I kinda blew my load cash wise getting the system, and won't be able to shell out $100 for a legit copy of that game for a while.  Is there definative proof that CD-R's damage ALL units, or is it a crap shoot?  Also, are the laser pick-up's repairable and what would that cost?
#41
I just found this board a few days ago and have been reading as much as I can!  When I was a kid I got a TG16 right after it came out, and I was always a fan.  I have all the ROMS, but emulation just isn't the same.  I decided to get a PC Engine because win the early '90's I used to see ads for import systems in the back of game mags and I thought they looked so cool.

I ordered a white briefcase system from japaneseimportgames.com (it was on sale!) along with a Super Famicom, Famicom AV, and some games.  Jpanese hardware is so much cooler then the US stuff.  The only consoles I have now are PS2, SNES jr, GB Micro, and DS Lite.

Anyway, what are some good CD games I should be on the lookout for the PCE?  Also, is there any way to get TG16 HuCards to play in the PCE?  Will a CD-R copy of Dracula X play OK on the briefcase?  Will it damage it?
