Console Repair/Mod Center
Hey everyone,
I recently recapped my entire Duo due to not having good sound or almost no sound from the console. It had also previously been RGB modded using doujindance's RGB amp mod.
Image looks amazing with SCART cable, same one used on Pc Engine CoreGrafx with no issues (sound n video great).
The sound issue:
- Full loud music through left speaker
- Only effects sounds from right speaker
I used console5 recap kit, so 50 odd caps have been replaced.
I've checked voltages on the IC506 and all sound I/O is 3.8V also checked C622 and that seems to be correct voltage.
Anything else I need to check?
Could it be as simple as dirty vias near/under the IC506?
Things to note:
- IC506 Pad 5 was torn so I made a jumper from a discarded TH cap leg from pin 3 to pin 5. Also ground pin 4 wasn't grounded so jumpered to the ground space next to it.
Could my IC506 simply just be toast? I did apply some heat near there so perhaps it got scorched?
