Sure it will given how they shut down lik-sang i bet gamers, there have forgiven sony  :P
whats there to forgive?  99% of people buy their games from highstreet stores, i don't think most people know about the lik sang situation, and if they did then they wouldn't care, why should they?  I don't

this just reminds me, i was at woolworths today and they had an end of an isle dedicated to ps3 boxes with the console's release date and preorder, for some strange reason this managed to attract quite a few passers by who stood in front of the diplay, just mesmerised by the empty ps3 display boxes on the shelf.  It gives me this feeling that despite its flaws the ps3 will still win in Europe.

thanks for the replies, the PCE is an awsome system, definately up there with the jap MD.  I've got no plans to upgrade the pcengine to CD for a long time (if ever) there are just too many quality hu card games available.

Quote from: Tron on 03/06/2007, 10:58 PMWelcome to the pce the system that is heaven for shmups and all.

Keep your, eye on the wallet on you should have smooth sailing.
Thats the reason i bought it  8), its just as good (if not better) than my jap MD for shmups.

After long last i've finally bitten the bullet and bought a pcengine, as i've never played one before 8)  I got a core grafx 2 as i wanted a basic hucard system to begin with (as there are so many games available) and slowly work my way up.  I got these games so far:

barunba
blue blink
bomberman 94
dragon egg
dragon spirit
fantasy zone
ordyne
parodius
rabius lepus
twinbee

All i have to say is wow, its far better than my jap MD, i can't believe this is a 8 bit system.  I only need one retro system so it looks like the jap MD and games will be going to fund more pcengine shit.  This i hope is just the beginning of many years of pcengine goodness

calm down people its only a console debate

regarding the Donkey Kong Country games , i don't think they were bad, i can still get some enjoyment from those games today which compared to 95% of platformers from that era isn't that bad.  However i agree the games were a case of style over substance, it was a time where developers were really flexing the snes's muscles a bit, from 94 onwards the MD seemed to show its limitations, the snes at that time flexed its muscles with games such as street fighter alpha 2, donkey kong, killer instinct, yoshi's island, mario RPG etc.  I'm a bit of a sega fanboy but even i admit the MD had no chance in hell of emulating those games, i think the snes showed that it was in a different league graphically.

I like the MD and snes equally though, i can't not like the snes, Nintendo were on top form during that time with countless classics, and then the MD had some killer shooters.  The pcengine i find difficult to pinpoint powerwise probably because of all its upgrades, i was always told that some of its early games show nes/ master system quality while some of its latest such as sapphire are regarded as 32bit quality games.

General Gaming / The Dreamcast lives on!
12/31/2006, 09:07 AM
The dreamcast just refuses to lie down and die, two new shooters coming out on the console early 2007.  Thank god for Naomi, as long as there are games being released on that the Dreamcast will live on.  The games are Trigger heart Exelica and Karasu (crows).  I believe play-asia are already taking pre orders, long live the dreamcast!!!  8) 8) 8)

Mario 64 was the first proper 3D game, full 3D movement and environments (before anyone says so no tomb raider wasn't), it was the game that revolutionised videogames.  You will have to have a cold cold heart not to feel anything once you saw mario pop up at the intro for the first time, or when you made mario jump around the castle for the first time.

Oh yes, Goldeneye is multiplayer perfection, never beaten, probably never will.  I generally dislike first person shooters, Goldeneye though is the only one i ever liked.

hi, i'm new to these forums, i've never had a pcengine before and its probably because of this that the system arouses my curiousity.  I'll probably get one within the next couple of months, probably start with a basic hu card system.  But my question is this, how does the pcengine compare to its rivals at the time? the md, snes, and neogeo, i know asking a pcengine fansite isn't probably the best way to find an unbiased view vut i'm sure there are many here who can give a balanced view.

So how does it compare? power, games, etc

Quote from: muse hunter on 12/28/2006, 09:44 AMthe 32/64 bit era was a great time, everything seemed possible and it was clear videogames were entering a new era.  For me the likes of the cdi, jaguar, 32X, mega cd, 3DO, FX, amiga cd etc are better of forgotten.  Too many tried to jump on the 3D bandwagon with their 32bit pretenders but fell right off, thank god consumers couldn't really give a damn about them otherwise the industry could have got its fingers burned.  For me the era started with the ps1 and saturn, both are quality consoles, i can't really decide which is better.  And the N64 when it first came out toally blew me away, although today i find its aged pretty badly.  Anyways i loved that generation just for Nights, i love that game.
If the N64 totally blew you away then you have problems.
come on, i don't believe theres been a better videogame experience then playing mario 64 for the first time, the N64 was quality - goldeneye, smash bros, mario tennis, perfect dark, f zero x, zelda.  Sure the console was horribly undersupported and most thrid party games were a bit p!ss, but both Nintendo and RARE were on top of their game during the N64 years and thats what made the console great for me.

you have to take into consideration that with the release of the Wii and ps3 as well as the increased interest in the 360.  Retrogames would naturally attract less interest as most gamers are are focused on the new consoles, its probably the worse time to sell retro consoles and games
