2/13/2025: Localization News - Cosmic Fantasy 3-4!

Rather earth-shattering news in the PC Engine / TurboGrafx-16 community: Cosmic Fantasy 3 & 4 has been officially localized to English by Edia 30 years later for the Switch! Hard to believe! I know their script quality is poor given the 1&2 port but still good to see.

It's actually what you say because I got a cheap copy of both DK4 and Yuna (both complete) for around 20/30$ but I had a feeling it was very cheap as I usually see them go for much more on ebay..
I do know they are dirt cheap over in Japan, but I have no way of getting them at the moment so I have to stick to ebay :( was hoping to get some price indications of the more rare games so I could finish my collection without paying too much for them.. so any list (what are your top 5 or 10 rare games for pc-fx and what did you pay for it) from anybody here is more then welcome ;)

Let me go first then with the default lineup: (correct me if im wrong)

1. Zeroigar ($150-250)
2. Zenki ($120-200)
3. Chip Chan Kick! ($120-200)
4. Super Real Mahjong PV FX ($120-200)
5. Dragon Knight IV ($120-200)

6+ Maybe Anime Freak 4/5/6 ? Can Can Bunny Deluxe and Princess Rolfee? ($50-120)

Can everybody give me what in their opinion is the top 10 (or 5) of most rare and expensive PC-FX games are? with price indications if possible (but not needed) ?

I just want to continue with the collection I already had and I want to see where and when I will be ripped off in case of rareness/prices.

Thanks!

QuoteSettle down - no offense intended port187.  There is absolutely nothing wrong with playing any of the dating sims and I didn't mean to imply otherwise.  If this type of game were only of interest to pedophiles, then Japan would have to be full of pedos, considering the popularity and volume of dating sims made for every system.  I said that they have child-like voices; in no case does that mean that they are children.  As you noted, twelve year old girls don't have double d's - and I'll add that nobody has saucer sized eyes.

I haven't played through any of dating sims, but that is because of my lack of Japanese language knowledge and not because of the game's content.  I've never played any of the digital comics for the same reason - I'm not really interested in playing any story based games when I don't have a clue what's going on.  I would be all over any translated PC-FX game (or PC Engine game), dating sims included.
Didn't mean to come over so harsh, it's just that I had to endure that crap from several people now and I was getting tired! still it would be a dream come true having translated pc-fx games! I don't understand why they never showed up while I think it's quite easy to modify as it's just probably language files that need translation.. the hard bit is finding a japanese guy that speaks good english and has major intrest in the pc-fx and ownes the pc-fxga.. or vice versa! anyway it sounds like we are waiting for the winning lottery ticket :P

QuoteOh Yeah - Giggity Giggity!  There's nothing like double d's, saucer sized eyes, and the voice of a twelve year old.
If you see it that way, that's your thing.. you're probably in to chicks with male voices.. my thing with this all is owning an ('expensive' piece of gaming history for my collection) pc-fx that I want to play some games on while almost all games are anime dating sims, where the whole point/goal is to undress those chicks but you have to know indepth japanese to achieve that then hey why not.. that makes it a challenge to get it done! and having translations would actually if it's to make all these games even more playable so I can be part of it a little more then I am already! while you make it sound like I am some kind of pedophile for wanting to play these games..
And besides that whole voice thing I never saw twelve year olds with bazookas like those I came across ;)

PS: If there were more real / good / normal games for this console I would probably not even give these dating sims a minute of my time like I did on the 3DO previously but in this case its a huge part of the pc-fx history.

Quote from: guest on 01/03/2007, 08:58 PMBut if Nostradamus had named the Nintendo Wii and described the launch accurately but said the system would be black, would that have canceled out the actually significant prediction?

Quote from: Keranu on 06/15/2005, 03:52 AMPeople need to start translating PC-FX games more because I would love to play at least one dating sim on the system one day. There are a few other non-dating sim games I would like to play in English as well. (Last Imperial Prince, Blue Breaker, Farland Story FX, etc...)
So did one of the homebrew dev guys ever released a translation of a pc-fx game on the net that you know of?? that would be a dream come true! I really want to get those anime babes undressed!! hehe

Quote from: Azazel on 12/15/2002, 05:09 PMWell CDR Win is too much of a piece of crap to use. Is there anything else anyone recommends? I think there are like 8 titles out of 50 that I can't get ot copy perfectly.
I know this reply comes very late, but it would be handy reposting in here for any new pc-fx people looking for answers !

Anyway just FYI I mount them with Alcohol and burn them with Nero (cd copy - karaoke cd) at any speed! the last few I did were burned on 40x and come out great without problems!

Quote from: Keranu on 01/09/2007, 06:05 PMSpeaking of this thread, I haven't seen ruina on #utopiasoft in awhile. I hope he's still up to doing PC-FX homebrew.
That's kinda what I was wondering about, as this console is so old now and the isa card was available to make homebrew games or apps still I never managed to find something like that on the net (yet) probably because almost all guys making that stuff have to speak japanese :/ so guess its really hard to find for a very basic speaker.
Maybe somebody reading knows of some site or name of some homwbrew stuff for the fx? anything?

Quote from: guest on 01/08/2007, 05:13 PMCheck www.necstasy.net for verified table of contents and burning instructions.  I've never made a back-up of a PC-FX image, but I'm guessing that the process would be similar to a Turbo CD.  At the very least, your table of contents should match those at necstasy.
Thanks bro, it worked! actually I had to find a workaround as CDRWIN didn't support my Pioneer burner, anyway mounted image file with alcohol and burned with 'copy cd' in nero using the 'karaoke cd' settings.
Anyway PM me if somebody needs more info or help!

Sorry for the off topics here ;) but is there any special way to burn them? I have found several iso's (roms) online that if I mount with alcohol and play with the emulator work fine but when burned on cd both the emulator and the pc-fx doesnt play them (Burned with Nero - Burn Image on a MMore CDR-80) while the emulator does recognizes it as a pc-fx cd!? anyway do I need to use another burn tool or cd or any other special action because the roms found are only for use with the emu in that state? hope somebody can help thanks :)

Does anyone want to part with their Turbo Grafx 16 console? I am looking for a cheap (no box or games needed!) just a working standalone console with a pad or 2 and it doesn't matter what the state is as it works and plays US games (so a PAL version should be fine too) requesting this console to give away as a gift.
Please PM me with your price! thanks

Quote from: port187 on 01/04/2007, 09:25 AMI am a new PC-FX owner (for the collection) but I would like to experiance this console to the fullest before packing it back in for the collection ;) anyway I have some original games but I want to buy some more, before I do that I would love to be able to test a couple 'backup' games to be sure they are cool.. so it's a little sidetrack from homebrew software but: Is it possible to play backups on the PC-FX by default? does it need some kind of mod chip? if by default can I just download the roms available on torrent sites burn them on cdr's and play?
Thanks!
Well, if you're not planning on buying cdr copies, then there's a quick and easy way to find out.  :P
Thanks guys! the problem with the easy way to find out was that I searched around but didnt find any live torrents of pc-fx games around, so instead of search myself silly for nothing or burning them wrong if I would find any I wanted to have it confirmed as I remembered somebody mentioning something to me about a special trick once..? anyway great news! as some/most games can cost quite alot and I don't want to spend a little fortune on no fun or unplayable (too japanese for me) games.
