No, NOT a trick, a Halloween treat! Presenting the Dead of the Brain 1 English patch by David Shadoff for the DEAD last official PC Engine CD game published by NEC before exiting the console biz in 1999! I helped edit/betatest and it's also a game I actually finished in 2023, yaaay! Shubibiman also did a French localization. github.com/dshadoff/DeadoftheBrain

You guys should check out spida1a's youtube page.  He put together a DVD collection of his reviews.

I see the game listed as a 8/4/08 release on the VC.  Who wants to bet it gets postponed again?
#3
The music on the hucard version blew monkey ass compared to Bonk I and II so I hope it is the CD release.
#4
Turbo Booster plus was such a ripoff.  I mean if it gave you digital 5.1 suround it would of been worth it but come on.  The turbo CD expansion was worth it mainly because of Ys I and II but booster is a not go.  It was a marketing hoax of the 80's.  Good idea making it a huge piece of hardware.  Tricked most people in thinking it could tap into the pentagon and such.
#5
No game is worth that much except PC Cocoroon.  If it even exists.
#6
I do remember the announcement for all the T.V. Sports games on a CD but just like Baseball it never happened.  I mean if a beta of T.V. Sports Baseball actually existed, it would of surfaced on the net by now!
#7
Being able to play a near arcade perfect port of Street Fighter 2 Champions Edition on the go was unparalleled back in the early 90's.
#8
I know you can download some the classic Factor 5 games on their website for free.

I like the name of the company.  They would of tied up perfectly if they did movie based video game adaptations.  Even though movie games tend to be crappy.
#10
I stumbled upon their website and it appears the company made T.V. Sports Boxing and T.V. Sports Baseball for the amiga.  Also they did a sequel to It Came From The Desert for the amiga although it doesn't appear to have  full motion video like the TG16CD game.

whoa..........Is this Bonk for the Atari 2600? :D
#12
I just wish they would expand the playing field.

Wouldnt it be great to play a pinball game within the whole human body?  You start at the feet and make your way up to the brain.  It would be killer!
#13
This is completely unexpected.  Great idea!
#14
This poll is really a tug of war between the two thunder games.  I picked Lords cause of the epic soundtrack.
#15
Resetting the game 57 times.  Who was the mad man who devised that code.
#16
Just as I thought.  Still if you want, you can use my flash cart as a bookmark or maybe to scoop up peanutbutter to make a sandwhich.

Quote from: Joe Redifer on 03/13/2008, 10:31 PMJack Nicholson Golf should definitely be on the list.  It is probably the best CD game ever for any system.
HAHAHAHAHAHAH

Anyhow, I voted for Ys Book I and II but I salute whoever voted for Buster Bros.  There was an extra space stage if you started the game from stage 1.  I'm not sure what other versions of the game had this extra stage?

Quote from: turbokon on 03/12/2008, 02:31 PMSideshow, I received your flash card on Monday.  I tried it on my turbo duo and te but just got a blank screen. :(  Can I peel the decal to look at the component?
By all means, do what you feel is necessary to find the problem.  I feel so much better that it isnt just me who cant get the flash card to work anymore.   =P~  I do like that theory of using roms with the modified region code may have damaged the flash card because I did modify several of my US roms to play on my DUO RX.
#19
They should make a new next gen bonk game for the wii but they need to have a harness that attaches to your head that holds the wiimote.  I mean lets really bonk while playing this game.  Headbangers will love it!

Download the HES file if you wanna hear the music for bloody wolf.  Its.........well..........bloody good! :D

Its called:  Narazumono Sentō Butai Bloody Wolf
#21
Thats another good theory that the bank switching code could of damaged the flash card.  Still thats absolute rubbish that a modified rom can ruin the flash card inoperable.  This flash card should of been sold for like 50 bucks.
#22
Thats a very good guess.  I could of zapped my flash card without even knowing it.  I didnt realize they are sensitive to static.  The thing is that the card still appears to successfully flash roms onto the GBA side.
#23
This is a toughy.  I had fun doing 5 people multiplayers with both Bomberman 93 and Dungeon Explorer 2 back when they came out.  I'm going with Bomberman 93 though cause the funfactor is just a little bit higher.
#24
Since Turbokon has a working flash cart we shall see if my card works on his system.  If it does work I will probably crap my pants cause regular hucards work fine on my DUORX just not this flash card.  At least it used to work.  It would of sucked if I never got it to work in the first place.
#25
It could be my contacts are damaged on the PCE side of it but it doesnt make sense to me cause I alwasy treated that thing as an infant baby due to fact it cost me over 100 bones.
#26
I always thought it was funny in bloody wolf how there wasnt a animation for when your climbing over fences.  The dude just kept on climbing air at the top of the fence.  I cant express how awesome the soundtrack is for bloody wolf.  It topples many CD rom game soundtracks.  I think there was also some dialog typos in the game where the spelling was so obviously wrong.
#27
I believe you have the exact same flash cart that I ordered when it first came out about 2 years ago.  This will be great for you to test since its the same one I have.
#28
I disagree, the music and sound are abysmal in Ghost Manor.  The graphics and gameplay is pretty good though for a turbochip so I guess it balances the game out.
#29
Check your PM Nat.
#30
Ghost Manor is great game if you turn the music and sound effects off.
#32
Check your PM turbokon.
#33
Yes, my DUO-RX plays hucards just fine.  The flashcard just doesnt boot up anymore.  I tried doing the sandpaper thing on the PCEngine flash cart leads but still no go.  I would love to ship this flash cart to somebody to see if it works on somebody else's console cause its pretty much useless to me now.
#34
I did the hex edit trick to all of the US roms except the following of which I cant find the standard code:

Cadash
Final Lap Twin
Ghost Manor
Legend of Hero Tonma
Night Creatures

I did this about 2 years ago when I first got my NEO Flash Card with nice R-Type decal.  Too bad I get just a white screen when booting it up on my DUR-RX console.  I cant even get the main menu.  Maybe I need to do this non abrasive cleaning methods as stated in this thread.  Funny thing is that regular Hucards work great.  I'm pretty much having the same problems as Paisa49.  The card worked the first couple times now doesnt work at all.  The card appears to write the roms correctly cause I get no errors on the PC side.  I"ve come to point where I'm playing Turbo roms on my modded XBOX.
#35
I bought this flash card like 2 years ago and it worked fine a couple of times but then all of a sudden my PCEngine would just give me a blue screen when turning it on.  I hope this doesnt happen to you.  It would be so much better if they could make a CD with all the PCEngine roms that you pop in that uses the Super CDROM memory to play.
#36
Well, I went to gamefaq and not only does it say it was released in 1993, somebody wrote a faq for it.  Too bad ICOM didnt cap off the trilogy by releasing it for the Turbo Duo.  I remember Sherlock Holmes 2 said SuperCDrom on the cover but you could actually play it on the regular CDRom format.
#37
Well there wasnt a huge selection of data east games made for the turbo.  Bloody Wolf is probably their best game for the turbo grafx.
#38
So far I've only seen Hudson Soft, Irem, Bandai Namco, and G-mode on the virtual console.  Just pick games that were released by these publishers and you will find future releases for the virtual console.
#39
What makes the game so great is all the death animations to discover.
#40
Your not missing any.  Thats all of them.  I believe Shapeshifter was one of the first SuperCDrom titles released in the US next to Gate of Thunder and Shadow of the Beast.
#41
Damn, I didnt realize there was a Sherlock Holmes Consulting Detective part 3 released for the PC.  Just looked at ICOM's game catalog.

Camp California and ShapeShifter are some of ICOM's better games but your right about no ICOM releases on the virtual console.  Nintendo could be having a hard time getting the rights are maybe Nintendo is not even trying?
#42
This is from Wiki:

ICOM Simulations was formed as TMQ Software[1] in the early 1980s by Tod Zipnick. With the MacVenture series, ICOM pioneered the point-and-click adventure interface and later multiplatform CD-ROM development with Sherlock Holmes: Consulting Detective. The company was acquired in 1993 by Viacom New Media which closed its operations in 1997. Renamed to Rabid Entertainment, VNM/ICOM was dismantled in 1998.

The rights to ICOM's game portfolio is currently held by the company Infinite Ventures.
#43
They need to release Beyond Shadowgate on the virtual console but not as bad as Ys I, II.
#44
Really strange Ys I and II hasnt been released yet considering its the flagship CD title for the system.  Hudson is releasing Omega 5 for XBOXLIVE next week which looks like a modern version of Forgotten Worlds.
#45
Ya a CDROM version would of been cool.
#46
The Turbo Express was so damn expensive when it came out you were lucky to find somebody else to link to.  Strange how they made Falcon a link game cause its a very boring game.  Bomberman makes perfect sense for linking.  Parasol Stars would of been a great link game.  Anyhow great information nonetheless.

Seriously, this game is fun....glad it recently came out on the virtual console so that more people can play it.
My favorite part of Chew Man Fu was the ability to create your own levels.
#48
I loved both games but I voted for the first game.  I remember playing LE and thinking it was just ok, that was until I got to the 3rd zone the game opened up and got much better.
#49
I chose Splatterhouse cause I was a horror junky back in the day and the Friday the Thirteen esque character I thought was so cool.

On the other hand Ninja Spirit is a great game too and has a very arcade fast paced style to it.  I just think Revenge of Shinobi for the Genesis was a way better Ninja game.

Hudson needs to release the new Dungeon Explorer game they previewed last year.  I got myself a 360 and am waiting for them to keep there promise.
