@GTV reviews the Cosmic Fantasy 1-2 Switch collection by Edia, provides examples of the poor English editing/localization work. It's much worse for CF1. Rated "D" for disappointment, finding that TurboGrafx CF2 is better & while CF1's the real draw, Edia screwed it up...

I have a collection of four great Turbo games on ebay if anyone is interested:
         Games include:
              Legendary Axe
              Blazing Lazers
              Devil's Crush
              Ninja Spirit

All 4 games come with case, instuctions and 'protective sleeves' forn the Hucards.  All are in very good condition.
             Thanks

I am very curious to find out when most of us started gaming on the PC Engine/TurboDuo family of consoles.  I, like many of you, did not appreciate it until long after it had bitten the dust.   It started back in 1999 for me when I bought my TurboDuo from TZD for about $200.  Gaming was well into the PS1 era when I started to collect retro systems and games again.  I reacquired an SNES in 1997 and a Genesis in 1998, and I was really interested in playing Dracula X and Gate of Thunder sometime in my life.  I also had EGM's Issue 100 with its Top 100 games of all time and saw several TG-16 games in there including Bonk, Legendary Axe, Military Madness, Devil's crush, Gate of Thunder and Y's Book I + II.  I did not even know what Y's was until I saw it on the Top 100!!!  Crazy Huh?  Anyway, I feel EGM's Top 100 in November 1997 helped shape me into the gamer I am today, happily enjoying the PC Engine and it all of its Duo goodness.  Let me know when you fisrt stated gaming on PCE and let me know if you were inspired by EGM's Top 100 list!

I think I have just found an answer to my own question:  On any RGB-modded Duo R, It is imperative to the keep the Amp circuit board far enough away from the 'heat sinks' on the upper left corner of the unit.  I tried this today on my unit and played for 90 minutes and it was just fine.  For anyone that has an RGB-modded Duo R(and possibly the other Duos as well) this should come as some helpful advice.  To anyone else, let me know how RGB is treating you!!

I actually have 2 RGB-Modded Duo-R's and both seem to have the same problem  -  After about 1 hour of continuous play, the display tends to 'push white' or 'push red' just enough to where it is noticeable.  I have done a test of this by checking the 'Konami logo' in Dracula X before and after extended play and there is a noticeable difference.  Has anybody else had this problem at all?  If so, let me know of any possible way to fix this.
        Thanks

I have had the same 'vertical line' problem as well on my Duo-R.  They usually appear on solid blue and purple screens, but are pretty minimal in my opinion.  In my opinion, these 'jail bars' do not detract from the quality of the image since they can barely be seen.  I believe it is inherent to the RGB mob, because I never saw those lines while playing in composite(my RGB-modded N64 also has this problem).  S-Video modded units also have the same problem(even moreso), so don't go there if you expect to rid yourself of the vertical line problem.  Also, an RGB-YUV transcoder will not get rid of this problem -there is no such thing as magic!  Even with some of the problems we must face with RGB-modded systems, it still looks far better than composite video will ever look even on its best day!  I hope this is consolation for anyone that may be seeing an image that is not completely perfect...

   Hello,
I noticed on some of these forums that various people have been having some issues with RGB-modded and region-modded Duos.  I am no exception to this rule.  I purchased an RGB-modded system 3 weeks ago and love it to death, but there are some realities us owners must face:
    - RGB leads can become detached from HU6260 chip if banged around.
I had my 'red' wire become detached, but luckily was able to solder it back on :)
Picture was a yucky blue-green tint before fixing.

    - Region mod wires can also detach from card slot.
I got a 'white picture' on USA/JP settings, and discovered a wire was knocked loose(resoldered no problem) :o

This is just an advisory that anyone who owns a modded system that wires can become detached and cause problems, and that these problems can be easily fixed if you just look around the circuit a little bit. I sold an RGB-modded Duo to member JKM and he had his 'green' wire come loose, so anyone who wants a modded system should understand the risks involved.  A little bit of soldering skills goes a LONG way!!

    JKM,
I actually sent it from San Diego. I put in my new address on ebay, but it still doesn't register on my seller account.  I got some of those scuff marks off before I sent it... I tried my damndest!  Thanks for letting me know what to clean them off with in the future!  Do you you like your Duo in component video?  The difference is very noticeable, especially in red colors.  However, the Duo actually looks pretty good in composite, but the extra step or two above that makes it outstanding!  S-Video modded Duos look very similar to the RGB-modded units, but slightly, SLIGHTLY less clear.  I am glad you now have one more system in component video.  Now if only I new how to do an NES RGB mod... I would be composite free for life!

You will have to buy your system first.  I recently bought an RGB-modded Duo-R and sent it to turbokon to do the region mod.  I had previously sent my S-Video Duo(now sold to another member) with audio problems, and he fixed that very quickly and reliably.  I have had good experiences with him so far!

   JKM,
Congratulations on winning the RGB-modded Duo-R. I tested everything and it works great. Dracula X looks wonderful in RGB/Component.  Just out of curiosity, are you going to hookup to an RGB monitor or use an RGB-YUV transcoder?  I actually play my Duo in component video via the transcoder and I couldn't be happier with it!

I have a Turbo duo that has been S-Video modded on ebay if you want to look at it.  If you want to have your own system modded I am not so sure.  I don't think member D-Lite does it anymore(multimods.com).  You also have the option of getting an RGB-modded system as well.  With RGB, you can convert it to component video using a RGB-YUV transcoder.  Those can be had for $60 on ebay nowadays. That's how I have done it and I love playing Level 5' in Dracula X in glorious component video! Hope I've helped you out a bit.

I actually purchased 2 RGB-modded units from that one seller in Japan.  The one I am selling is the less-pretty system has some rub/scuff marks on it.  I cleaned it up as much as I could; the controller and multitap look really good now, but the unit shows obvious wear.  I am keeping the 2nd RGB-unit I bought as my Duo of choice, so I no longer need my original S-Video model.  Might as well sell 'em if I don't need 'em!

Note:  PC Engine Duo-R will need a region mod if you want to play USA Hucard games.

I have an S-Video modded Turbo Duo for sale that I posted on ebay(2 days ago) only to have it delisted for "copyright infringement" reasons.  An S-Video mod has nothing to do with that!!  I e-mailed ebay and told them the situation and I am awaiting their reply.  Hopefully, I will be able to relist it very soon.

Anyway, the system was S-video modded by member d-lite in 2005 and new caps were installed by turbokon last month, so it has no sound issues.  The reason why I am selling it is because I recently purchased an RGB-modded Duo-R and will have that region-moded by turbokon this month.

System comes with:
Console w/S-Video and RCA jacks on back
   1 controller
   S-Video and composite a/v cables
   AC Adapter

Anyone who is intersted let me know, and maybe we can work something out.

    Hello,
My name is Erik and I recently had my Turbo Duo sound problem fixed by turbokon.  I sent it out Friday the 11th and received it back the following Friday.  Problem is fixed and turnaround time is outstanding!!  Overall, an outstanding job performed by turbokon.  Highly recommended for doing business with!!
