True you can snag one for $50 but shipping is much more as I rarely see one inside the US. And the other shop once you sign up you get a 10 euro sign up bonus so it is cheaper only if it is your only purchase, and I don't see to much more NEC items I want. They do however have a nice Mega Key I have been looking for.

Pricey yes but some rather nice items that are hard to find sometimes. There converters are cheaper than telegames for sure

Oh yes over priced as can be I bought my DUO-R for only $175 shipped and made the PCB for the region mod for $15. So for $190 I have that console and the ability to play CD based games as well for less than that. It is a good thing the region mods are so easy to build with a few multi-plexers from mouser and a etched board.

So I got a copy of Altered Beast today and doing some searching it seems I must have a 1.0 card for my DUO-R. Well I was searching Ebay and all I can find is one for $20 plus $9 s/h from Japan for a loose card. The $20 doesn't sound so bad but $9 for a loose hu card that could take two weeks to get to me is a little outrageous. So if anyone has one of these that would be great or another way to play this game as the Hucard version is awfully hard.

Sorry for the noobish question but I am new to this but does this card have a case etc. All I can find are loose cards and I try to not buy them unless need be. Should have seen the look on my face when I opened my Magical Chase and didn't have a case I was pissed as I bought a complete one and turns out there wasn't one ever made. It does seem as if a member here has a sticker set that has some of these. Might get those once I get my Neutopia II in as I here it has the same problem. Anyone know why NEC started doing that so late in the consoles life?

Just PM him and he will sell them to you. That is all I do he never had any on Ebay. I just one day after doing a lot of business with him sent him a message and asked if he would sell me some cases and he replied yep for $4 each. Just ask him he will sell them I promise.

I used CDRwin myself for Ys IV, Xak III, Dracula X and a few others. It is uber easy as the instructions are included in the translation pack from romhacking. The best thing is they give you a exact number your image size should be to make sure it is a proper 1:1 dump. PM me and I can send you a pre-cracked version of CDRWin. No need to do anything other than insert the disc and hit copy as it is pre-configured for ripping PCE games. Also the patch will not work if you don' have a proper 1:1 image size. There is only one size that works for bin and cue and another size for the shitty ISO rips.

If anyone wants the actual cases there is a seller on Ebay that I buy empty Keith's Courage, US sports and China Warrior from for $4 each shipped with HU cards sleeves. The seller is mediaencyclopedia and I think it is a nice deal since you can't find real cases anywhere. That would be a money making adventure right there, if only I could afford such an adventure.

The region switch isn't to hard to make. It cost around $20 total parts included. You will need to etch the board yourself and install a few multiplexers but it is the most convienit way to do so and the cheapest. I paid $150 for a DUO-RX and $20 parts to make a region bypass board and switch. Now I can play any region HU card and CD with only one console. By far the cheapest way to go and less mess having two consoles. PM me and I can make you a board and sell it you for around $30 shipped if you trust your soldering skills. If you don't trust your soldering skills the converter can be found here for $50 brand new.

Also if you get a PC Engine and want to play US games you will still need to ground a pin inside of the DUO's. As for the US version no modifications to the console are required. But the DUO-R's and DUO-RX's are a lot less prone to audio failure than the US/JPN DUO's in my experience.
