Hey kid_rondeau, definately same gear, same problem.

My gear looked yellow- so I assumed it was made of a different plastic- but yours looks white like the rest.

May have to find one of the suitable replacement drives and replace that one part or the whole optical assy.

I wonder if the same problem will show up though- that gear may just get brittle with age

I am looking for a specific gear for a Turbografx 16/ PC Engine CD-rom drive.

If you have a "parts" unit and can help me out I'd greatly appreciate it.

It's one of the gears that drives the whole optical pickup sled.

I have a complete Duo optical assy. that I cannot remember if It works correctly, but I can offer parts off of that unit. or $$$.
