I just bought a Turbo Duo on Ebay, but it didn't come with a power adapter. What are the specifications for a generic power adapter that works with the Turbo Duo?
#2
I sent it to a local console repairer, and he said he got the system to work perfectly when he set it upside-down. I asked him for a video to prove it, and, sure enough, it worked. So, I had him send it back to me. I tried it, and it still doesn't work! It gives me the same error as always. What could be the problem?
#3
I've given up trying to repair it myself. I'm just going to try to find a repair shop to fix it. Thank you for your help, anyway.
#4
If you want to play FPS's on an obscure console, get an Atari Jaguar.  :P
#5
It didn't work. The laser just automatically repositioned itself back to the far left when I tried to play a disk. Also, sorry I wasn't able to reply for a while; I was away for a few days.
#6
He offered to pay for repairs, but now I have a torx screwdriver. What things should I look for to adjust the laser?

I have never gotten a game to work on the Duo-R, and the seller says he has never run a backup on it. Also, I'm in Michigan, USA. is anyone close to that area that can repair a Duo?
#8
I got a really weird response from the seller. He said that backups and imports don't work on the Duo-R that he sold me. Now, I know for a fact that all Duo-Rs do both of these, so I'm a bit curious about that. Also, the NTSC-J non-backup game he sent me didn't work, either. I only have TurboCD games and backups to test, and none worked. Has anyone heard of a Duo-R rejecting backups and imports?

I got a response from the seller, but he's not asking any questions I haven't already been asked. I'm going to keep talking with the seller, and see what he can do, first. If it doesn't work, I'll probably have it repaired. I don't want to mess up a $200 system even worse by doing it myself.

Yeah, I sent the seller a message about 13 hours ago, he should respond soon... hopefully.

Well, things have gone from bad to worse. I tried holding down the disc cover button and switch to see what the laser does with no disc. It moves up and down, but not sideways. But, that's not the problem. Now, when I close the lid, it gives me an error saying that the disk cover was still open! What should I do now?

The seller hasn't responded yet, but I'm still waiting. I tried moving the laser; it's always at the far left when I open the cover, but it won't move. I can't open the system right now, because I don't have a torx screwdriver, but when I try to pull it, it won't move at all. I heard that removing the plastic of the cd tray might help. What does this mean, and how do I do it? I tried cleaning the lens with alcohol, that didn't work. What kind of torx screwdriver should I look for? Also, can you post those pictures? Also, I have no HuCards to test with.

I tried pushing down on the disc cover while loading, and it seems to spin faster if I'm pushing down on it. Also, I got this item from Japan, but am using it in the US. I got the standard 9 volt adapter, but I have a 12 volt adapter for another device; should I try that? I heard power could be a problem. I also tested audio discs, they didn't work.

I just got a new Duo-R off Ebay, and the console is supposed to be brand new. When I put in a disk and start it up, it gives me an error that says "Please Set Disc!" I tried different games, but it gives me the same error. What should I do? One thing I noticed is that the disk drive makes a high-pitched whining noise, and seems to stutter, and it only seems to spin a little bit, because it always is facing upside-down when I open the cover.

I got a saturn Multitap. I'm having a saturn bomberman 10-player party soon!

Quote from: TR0N on 02/01/2009, 01:47 AMAt the most bloody wolf since the arcade version was 2p.I all ways find it weird to take a run'n'gun game and port it without the 2p.
Yes, definitely Bloody Wolf. One of the few things I don't like about the Turbo/PCE is the single controller port.

QuoteGenesis Zealot: The Genesis has 80 sprites!
Turbo Zealot: Yeah but the Turbo can do 32x64 sprites, whereas the Genesis can only do 32x32 tops!
Genesis Zealot: The Genesis has two background layers! Hah, beat that, Turbonerd!
Turbo Zealot: So does the Supergrafx! And it has twice the RAM! Hah back at you!
Genesis Zealot: Hey that's not fair, no one has a Supergrafx!
Turbo Zealot: Hah! Sucks to be you!
Genesis Zealot: The Genesis has SHADOW MODE!!!!!!*&^!@$#^^
Turbo Zealot: The Turbo has more colors already built in without the need for some stupid hardware hack!
Genesis Zealot: The Genesis has 32 megabit games!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!111111111
Turbo Zealot: You need all that extra memory for the wasteful CPU your console has! We don't NEED cartridges that big! Besides, our Street Fighter II kicks your Street Fighter II's stupid ass!
Genesis Zealot: Sega's games on the Turbo look like ass!
Turbo Zealot: WELL NO DUH! They had to make them look like crap on superior hardware (Turbo) so they could sell more of their inferior hardware (Genesis)!
Genesis Zealot: Well suck on this! The Genesis has a 16 bit CPU with a higher clock rate! HAH! Sucks to be your old 8 bit turtle!
Turbo Zealot: The Turbo's CPU is more efficient than your wasteful RISC wanabe CPU! It performs better than your Frankenstein of a CPU!
SNES Zealot: Hey, guys, what's up?
Genesis Zealot: Um, I have to go somewhere... else, now.
Turbo Zealot: Uh, yeah, me too!

I thought Ys IV WAS brought to the US. I think it's on the PS2 and PSP.
#19
Well, an interface unit shouldn't be too pricey. Do you think it would be worth it?
#20
This is probably a really, really stupid question, but can you connect a pc-engine cd to a turbografx? I think pce-cd systems are cheaper than tcd's, so I was just curious.
#21
There will definitely be more games on VC from NEC hardware, but that doesn't necessarily mean the Turbografx. Nintendo's been importing games from Japan to the US VC [e.g. Sin and Punishment N64]. So, they might release some PC-E exclusive games, and maybe even a few pce-cd games.
#22
I guess I'll just wait until I find one for around 150. All the current ones are well over 200. Thanks for all your help!
#23
Well, I plan on region-modding it.

I have been searching around for a reasonably-priced turbo duo for a while now, until I realized that such a thing does not exist. So, instead, I'm looking for a TG16 and TCD; it should be a bit cheaper. But, I heard that games like Sapphire can only be played on a Turbo Duo/Duo R with the Arcade card. Is this true or not?
