Wait a minute, are you starsoldier1, the ultimate Air Zonk champion of the world?! If so, how do I stop sucking at this game?

I've been trying on and off to beat it on spicey for far too long, but the last level just beats the hell out of me.....

I really want to see the alternae ending.

Love Air Zonk. It's one of my favorites on the Turbo and my favorite shooter period.

I'm certain that that is the copy brentsg recently sold over at neo-geo.com . If I'm correct then this sellers line of being the original owner is pure bullshit.

I could be wrong, but those flyers were being included with brentsg's game and the odds or two similarly minty games showing up back to back...... I'm sure of it.

Just sort of fucks me off how all these ebay sellers lie.

I don't think I could pay money for those, but if you wanted to workout a trade lmk.

Zeta, cars are cool, don't let anyone tell you any different. I drive a 2010 Mustang GT and I've always got at least 1 classic (currently a Dart Swinger) so I can get my hands dirty too.  BTW, I also bought a house. I also have bought some reasonably expensive games. I also enjoy taking girls out for steak and lobster.  Guess what? I'm not rich either. Fairly well off perhaps, but certainly not rich.

As far as TG-16 vs PCE...... what the hell man?! Can't people just enjoy both? I love the TG-16 for the nostalgia that it has for me. I only had the TG-16 back in the day, so it's nostalgic to play the Hu's and rad to play the CD's that I couldn't back then. I love a lot of the PCE only games too.

Thing is, whenever I have to choose between regions there are a few factors that come into play. The first is price, the second is the differences between versions. The last is if the game has a lot of text. I dislike having to use a translation or an f.a.q. for a Japanese game that I could just play in english. I don't care if Dynastic is only $20 on PCE. The little amount of text in that is enough to push me towards the US game.

Now, as far as buying expensive games goes, understand this. My father would play Atari 2600 before I cold even walk. I am a gamer, it's a part of who I am. Over the last decade though, I have been having a harder and harder time finding titles that I am interested in. I'm getting old and am no longer the target demographic for developers. I would rather spend $400 on a classic game I'll play the hell out of then $50 on a new game that I'll play for a week and get bored of. It's all about the enjoyablilty of gameplay.

I've bought some rare/expensive games like my US Rage of the Dragons or my US KOF2003 homecarts that I simply did not love. $300-$359 each and I didn't really dig them. Not to say I hated them, but I ended up selling both games because I never really wanted to play them. I see no point in keeping games just because they are rare and valuable, I keep the games I love.

Also understand that you won't find me going crazy trying to buy a complete Turbo collection when many of the games are clearly turds (face it - it's true). I will only buy a high end game once in a while and when I do that's it for a while, I spent my gaming funds and that's the game I'll sit and play until it's mastered.

I guess what I'm saying is that not everyone just buys 10K in homcarts and then sells them the next month and not everyone who buys an expensive game bought it as an investment. I really am of the school of thought that you should only buy the games you want to play. The difference between you and I is thatI won't sh!t down somebodies throat for enjoying something on a different level. If you gotta catch'em all, go ahead and do it.

Now if you'll excuse me, I've gotta drag my butt out of bed and go earn some $$$$$.

Quote from: hoobs88 on 12/03/2009, 10:13 AMConsidering the fact that Dynastic Hero is on the Virtual Console, I somewhat surprised that it still selling for over $400.
Not really. Its not like people who pay $400 for Dynastic Hero actually play these games.

Have you ever played KOF with someone who has a huge AES collection? Its pathetic.
That's a poor thing to say. Believe it or not, some people actually play the games they buy. I have a fairly sizable AES collection and I'll kick your ass at any of those games any day.

Honestly, I treat my games with respect and take good care of them. I'm pretty anal about it, but if I shell for a game I'm going to play it. It's about the gameplay first and formost.

Honestly, I have a deal pending on a nice complete Magical Chase. Damn, do I ever want to play that game! I won't play the rom though, that would be like cheating myself. Believe me, it's taken a long ass time to find a good one at the right price. When I slide the Hu into my system I'll be grinning from ear to ear.

I find my method of playing / collecting to be very rewarding. If you don't want to or can't afford to enjoy classic gaming on that level that's fine. Nothing wrong with it. Enjoy things on your own level. Just don't generalize someone like that for buying an expensive game.

Wow, when that game had around a day left it was only at $40. I can't believe it went that high.

There was a auction for a complete copy that ended a day earier too, did anyone catch what that one ended at?

Yeah, I think my problem was that I wanted to replace a lot of the games I had sold before. I owned a Turbo back in the day, but my main loyalty at the time was to my snes, genesis, and sega cd. I later bought a Turbo Duo in the early 2000's, but i sold it off a couple years later when I started hardcore Neo Geo collecting. Last year, I found the system I had sold (the exact same one), and I'd always regreted selling it, so I repurchased it.

Unfortunatley, it didn't take long until the sound issues arose, taking the fun out of playing cd titles. I eventually had it fixed, and once I had a working Duo again, I just sort of went bat-shit-crazy buying and playing games on it.

I really don't have any regrets at all about it, it's just that I never really bothered to add up what I had spent until reading this thread. The cost of those games added up quickly!

Wow. Reading this thread made me calculate my Turbo spending. Almost $450 of my worthless Canadian dollars were spent on the hobby this last month. Oh well, I have a ton of really cool games to get me through the holiday season now, and then I can start back up with my OCD game collecting in the new year.

Well, what else are you going to spend your money on?  Videogames rule!  Now give me your AES collection.  I won't even charge you shipping!
Thats a pretty sweet offer! I'll keep it in mind :P

I said 200 also, but it would have to be in very nice shape.
