10/31/2023: Localization News - Dead of the Brain 1!

No, NOT a trick, a Halloween treat! Presenting the Dead of the Brain 1 English patch by David Shadoff for the DEAD last official PC Engine CD game published by NEC before exiting the console biz in 1999! I helped edit/betatest and it's also a game I actually finished in 2023, yaaay! Shubibiman also did a French localization. github.com/dshadoff/DeadoftheBrain

Well I think we can all agree both Deep Purple and Alien Crush are awesome...

All of this is making my efforts to resurrect my Sony XBR even harder to endure

This thread reminds me that I need to actually try mine out. Once I get my CRT fixed that is.

Flash carts have change things for me. I had thought about getting back into the TG before but it wasn't until the everdrive came out that I made the jump over. I'll still buy games that I want eventually but it's nice to be able to try before you buy especially with the expensive games.

Anyone worried about the demise of Nintendo needs to read up on their video game history. How many generations have they existed through now? Sure some of the early success they manipulated their way to the top with but while not always on top the last few generations they still seem to make money on their products and have the audacity to produce hardware that turns profit on day 1!!!
Something the other big players can't do for at least a year or two post-launch.
Nintendo is good at making money and that they have down pat. Of course they have to; they don't have multiple divisions making consumer electronics or software that PC manufacturers buy to run their computers. So they have to survive on their game consoles and game sales to survive.

Don't get me wrong; I would love a world where we had 5 different consoles vying for our attention and would like it even better if Sega and/or NEC had thoroughly trounced them in the bit wars. Hell I wish Atari had made a hit with the Jaguar and the Lynx but they obviously did not.

Johnny Turbo reminds me why the bit wars were the one true conflict of the gaming world. Can you imagine the devastation if the Internet had existed in the late 80's-early 90's?
