Hello friends

A year ago I had a member here work on my Duo for an LED mod and Total cap replacement The system works like a champ, but when I go to the RAM screen to access my save files (no games in system) the system crashes. The screen appears briefly then fizzes out into ash then a black screen. I also have a reverse Turbo tap that I would love repaired. Who is the most dependable member who is capable of helping this clueless gamer of such matters. please PM me with questions or details. Thanks again I appreciate any help.

I'm playing Sylphia for the pc engine its a decent game, but def. not worth what I paid. why is that game so expensive?
#6
I'm down for booties in my Turbo!
#7
I"m with the majority. I'm not too keen on those damn cardboard boxes worse yet trying to make sure the foam in inside lol If the game didnt come with a case,I'm good with chip and manual. Pc engine same no spine cards needed. Genesis (some might cry) I cut those cursed cardboard boxes up to fit it the plastic cases. I like my games uniform. Only system I own and couldn't give a rats @$$ about boxes is my famicom top loader. anything else manuals are a must and cardboard boxes secondary. Ie: nes-SNES,etc

Wow Finally got some of you guys to discuss the thread. I bought mine for TZD and rarely used the thing. I don't mind mailing it to you Blue, I have a reverse Turbo Tap would that be a problem?
#9
Does anyone here know how to fix one ?
#10
Does anyone on this board know how to repair a Tap? I tried it they other day and the tap didn't work for co-op play not extensions plugged either. Thanks

I don't believe that bits are important anymore. Seems like the most important factor game need or have is DLC Lots of gamers jumped to the 360 version of GTIV because they knew the DLC was going there first. Multiplayer is a big one too. Graphics don't really matter to the pick up and play crowd either.

@Turbostar
Why do you compare the Dc to the PS3? Is it because they are basically in 3rd place to the Wii and 360? What type of games to you feel the Ps-3 is Lacking?

Steve was a good guy too he sold me his unpunched Kisado converter and gave me a free copy of Legend of hero Tonma for free when me sent me the wrong items once. I used to love picking his brain on when certain titles sold out in his inventory. I remember screaming when I missed bonk, splatter house and soldier blade by months. I'll forever be grateful for them because I bought a lot of stuff from them up until the end. Particularly manuals and odds and end stuff

Welcome to the fold my man! Turbo collectors are a passionate bunch. If you have the bread, buy games in lots to amass your collection quickly. Lots of great deals can be found in our sales tread as well.

I must have missed the EGM that covered the game. Truthfully I was so heavy into the Genesis and NES I probably didn't have sense back then to scoop up a duo and its final batch of games. In New York its tough to score moderate to limited release games. Back in the days, we didn't have big box stores. No Toys R Us,Target, Walmarts etc. probably why I never saw certain games on the shelf when they were new. Once Funcoland hit the scene, I was able to find games that I thought never released. Its also interesting how a game like Suikoden 2 for the PS was scarce in the city, but when I traveled South to Virginia I was able to cop a used copy for 14.99 months after its release.
#15
No arguments from me Nectarsis, That game isn't all that. I'm not even trying to get every game on the Turbo, but I'm a huge shmup fan, and would like it fot that reason. I doubt I'd ever pay those astronomical Ebay prices to score the copy. Sadly, there are plenty of people who would. :(

Zeta

Where did you live in the 90's? I never saw M.C in NYC (I did see bonk 3 and D.W.D) M.C was one of those games that I didn't know existed until TZD when I started buying games.

P.s. Your right D.W.D does suck =P~

Magical chase is an elusive game whether you wanted it years back or today. I find myself wanting an original copy even though I've played it on emulation. Obsession really torques me because I'm smart enough to know NO game is worth more then its original price. Yet,I went to great lengths to score most of my Japanese shooters for the Pc Engine. I hate that I spent 100's if not 1000's on my games over the years and still show no signs of slowing down my game purchases.  Once I get it in my head I want something, the "gotta catch em all" mentality is all that matters. Sometimes the hunt is more exciting than the score. If you are fortunate enough to procure M.C the game it shouldn't matter the price but the satisfaction of finally scoring it for the collection. Sadly once its in my hands, the excitement would quickly leave and its on to the next thing that peaks my interest. Collecting is a motherfuckingbitch lol. Good luck getting your wants gents.
#18
Yeh I'm still in the market for magical chase, but sadly I doubt I'll ever own an original as the price has risen to ludicrous levels. If I ever get one it'll be by trading tons of items I already own

Whats the difference between D.H. and any other wonderboy title? I never played it
#30
I must admit I was that kid that shitted on the Turbo back in the day. I was hating it for the fact that I couldn't own one when it was first released. I enjoyed the multiplayer games so much I bought my own Turbo controller just to play with my mates.
I bought my first NEC system two days before Thanksgiving in the Winter of 1998. I was so stoked when it arrived. Duo with 42 games 6 contollers and a Turbo stick. Since then I've been obsessed with the system. I moved to Japan in 04 and went on PC Engine overload. I'm a huge shmup fan and own most of the shooters domestic and import. My goal is not to own every game, but only the ones I love.
#31
De2 should be a topic by itself. I still think the first game is superior to the second. Even thought DE2 had Cd tracks and anime scenes, the first felt like a better experience
#32
To clarify my post: If NEC would have spent their time and energy promoting the Turbo express vs competing against the Nintendo and Genisis, could it have been successful in the hand held market. I don't think it would have de-throned the Game Boy per-se, but it would have probably cornered the adult market. @Zeta you are right on most counts with the Express' limitations. Perhaps they count have used some of the marketing bread to improve the battery. It probably would have been around longer. What do you all think?

P.S. The LT is pretty sexy.
#33
In today's age of hand held devices, Do you think if NEC avoided the hardware/console wars and put out the Turbo Express do you think it would have been more successful? I know the battery life was an issue, but it would have carved a nice lane for itself. Did the Express predate the game boy?
#35
I might have to place that game inside my system. Its nice when you read topics like this and it makes you want to rediscover one of the lessor played games in the collection.
#36
Sadly Nat that sentiment holds true. The problem is how collectors treat each other. Some guys have given me amazing deals on games, while others, (who I know paid the original sticker price) want to beat me upside the head with a mark up. There were times I had to back out of a deal because I thought the seller wanted too much money or they wanted me to cough up several other games for one title. Everyone wants compensation, but some want to maximize their profits. I don't like it when they do it, but that doesn't make me want to cuss they @$$ out either. Its not exactly inviting to "casual readers" passing through and reading posts saying: "go f themselves among other expletives. I know most of us are old dogs on these forums, but what if there are kids reading this stuff? It would make us look bad.
#37
I concur Ebay is very good to find what your looking for. Unfortunately, its also a place to gouge and sell dirty and dusty things. At the end of the day every thing has a price. Some willing to pay more than what something is worth just to finally add it to their collection.
Changing the subject Does anyone here got a cheap Dynastic hero for sale? lol Kidding I'm not trying to start no shit!
#38
thanks gunner I'll retract the comment about his minimal posting. but stand by the rest. He still seemed like a good dude despite his lack of business savvy  #-o
#39
Hey Zeta

I totally believe you are within reason for getting annoyed at someone "pimping their wares" and bailing without posting. This particular individual did post a few (albeit minimal) comments in the discussion thread. He didn't strike me as a "One and done poster" He didn't post harshly to the replies he received. He seemed like he could have been a great addition to our ranks IMO. He may not have divulged why he needed the money, but he insisted that was his price to part with it. I don't think he needed a reason.
I think it is incredibly subjective what a collector is willing to pay for something he wants. While we both have the means to purchase items of high value, I'm not so critical paying more for a particular collectible if it means I will attain it with no hassle. Certainly don't think that makes me a moron, simply saves me time hunting down a copy or negotiating  an unreasonable trade. I know it irks some, but to each his own.
Some games are priced too ludicrously though. Magical Chase complete most certainly IS NOT worth $1500.00.  What I'm trying to say, I wouldn't insult someone if they offered to sell me one for that price, I would simply decline.
Perhaps I used "Elitist" poorly. I have been on this site for less than a year and have seen numerous debates on how much should a game be sold or some angered because a price was too high. Why comment? if the seller gets no replies, doesn't that send the perfect message?
I agree that he should sell on Ebay to get the most for his investment. I just hate reading posts that have a condescending attitude. Give people a chance to show their true colors that's all.

#40
I hate that veteran members run off potential new members just on the fact that they try to sell their games. We could use new blood on these forums. Its always the same elitist attitude that shoos people away. Are we not collectors? Are we not gamers? if you had 500 to blow wouldn't you jump at the chance to buy that game or any other desirable product? Lets not throw stones NO ONE here is perfect. We all have flaws and needs. Than man could genuinely need 500 bucks for surgery, car repair or rent. Would we be helping him? That game is SUPER rare not common. Hence, some gamers with money (not C.C's in every situation) are willing to drop down that paper to not waste time or energy hunting down a copy.
I just wish our forum wouldn't be quick to judge someone trying to make a buck. Whats wrong with someone trying to expand their chances of selling a title and earn the most income for any game. Supply and demand people
#41
I love this site! Gamers that know they $#!t

Hey Guys

I bought one of these thinking I could use it to hold some saves once my Duo Ram was filled up. Is this think compatible? I have a kisado converter and it reads the card but I do not understand what to do. Can anyone shed some light on this accessory? I'm truly in the dark. ](*,)
#43
I see one on EBAY and was wondering how much they go for? I don't really care if I own a copy, as long as it plays like the original. Does anyone have it? Does anyone know if the gameplay suffers because its a copy?
 below is the linky

So I"m going to repeat this so I understand perfectly. If I'm to use an extention cable, I need to plug them into the Tap then attach the controllers. the Tap must be directly connected to the Duo. Did I get it right? Do I win a very special prize?

oh boy oh boy I sure hope my prize isn't sarcasm. :-"
#45
I have a reverse turbo tap and yes I tend to use the extension cable
