Buy/Sell/Trade / Valis Visual Collection
01/10/2006, 12:38 PM
Damn yeah, I noticed that prices have dropped a lot. Same for Saturn and Dreamcast stuff (which I am also getting out of). I was hoping to get $50 a titile, but that looks out of the question now.

I'm guessing the reason Turbo prices are so low now is the emulator scene. Any HuCard ever made is availible as a ROM now, and new CD burning software (and Windows XP) has no problems copying PC-Engine games. So people are making copies of their CD games and selling the originals on eBay to make some money.

And that really bones collectors that have a lot of cash invested in their collection... but I guess lower prices are better for the average player.

I guess I'll just eBay the games and hope for the best.

FYI, there's not much difference between Nexar and Nexar Special. The Special version has timed attack modes and other competetion-based features in addition to the game, but it is missing all the cinemas. Given the choice, I'd go with the regular Nexar game..

Buy/Sell/Trade / Valis Visual Collection
01/10/2006, 10:01 AM
I'm going to be selling a few of my old PC-Engine games that I haven't touched in ages. I have too much stuff, and I'm getting rid of my "collector" pieces that I never play and just keep around to look at and say that I own.

I've been out of the Turbo loop for years, so I don't really know what this stuff is worth. I have a *mint* Valis Visual Collection (all the animation from 2, 3, and 4). I bought it new, watched it once, and haven't touched it since.

I also have a mint Fushigi No Umi No Nadia (Nadia of the Mysterious Seas, or Secret of Blue Water). It's a digital comic based on the anime of the same name. VERY good animation inside. If you speak Japanese, it's basically playing completely new episodes.

Finally, I have 3x3 Eyes, with the VHS tape, box, and everything. Tape has been watched once. Game played a couple of times. The game is in very nice condition, the tape mint, but the box is only good to average.

I'm not really sure how much these are worth, because I've never seen them on eBay. I know I paid almost $100 for Valis, $50 or $60 for Nadia, and I don't remember 3x3 Eyes. But that was years and years ago.

Anyhow, advise would be nice. Thanks. :)

General Gaming / Ys V

There's a new copy of Ys V for the Super Fami on eBay right now with no bids. Item number 8250227661. I've been eying it... but I'll probably pass.

I have fond memories of beating Ninja Spirit for the first time on a family road trip from NC to Cleveland, OH. I was at that very pit stage for the longest time, and I finally passed it as we pulled into our destination. I didn't even talk to relatives until I finished the game.  (they were kinda cheezed at that too, but I was young)

Great game, one of my all time favs.

You know, another really underrated game is Keith Courage. If you completely and totally ignore the crappy cutsey-world stages, the game is a lot of fun. Good graphics, good gameplay, and just fun. If it wasn't for the crappy cutesy-world stages, that is. (Oh how I despise those stages)

I was always hoping for a sequel...

What ever happened to the Turbo List? You know, the old joyce.eng.yale.edu site? I've been looking for it and it appears to be gone. Has it moved somewhere, or has it really disappeared. I used to be a regular contributor many, many years back.

I'm also interested in the Saturn list, which was an offshoot of the original Turbo list...

I'm really hoping these two mailing lists didn't totally disappear.

Anyhow, thanks.

I tried the GamesX RGB mod and could never get it to work with the amplifiers. Without the amps, the colors didn't look right. way too dark, and just off somehow. I added the amps, and suddenly the picture wouldn't sync to either my commodore monitor or my arcade machine. I'm pulling sync off the chip, though. I was going to try pulling sync off the composite video port on the extension bus, with an LM1881 chip in there, but never got around to it and lost interest in the project. Got my Saturn and PSX hooked up to the arcade machine and have been busy with them...

PCE/TG-16|CD/SGX Discussion / BuyRite
06/10/2004, 01:22 AM
I live 10 miles from BuyRite, and I won't even go in the store anymore. They've never been under any other management for the 10 years they've been open. They're all dishonest and corrupt. If you order by mail or the Internet you'll get ripped off, plain and simple. It takes everything you've got not to get ripped off when you walk in the store to buy something. No, pass on Buy Rite. There's always eBay.

Oops. I accidentially posted this in the PCFX area, so here's a repost in the right place.

What ever happened to the Turbo List? I've been trying to get on http://joyce.eng.yale.edu/~bt/turbo, and it doesn't seem to exist anymore. I've been out of the loop for five or six years, but am just now getting back into my Turbo again after a very long hiatus.

Unfortunately, my CD sound is messed up in my Duo, and I'm hoping somebody can help me trouble-shoot the problem. (Hu sound plays fine, all discs load properly... but the CD sound fades out completely after about 5 minutes. I tried cleaning the lens and stuff, to no avail. I think a transistor or cap somewhere went south... unless it's just a bad solder joint somewhere...)
