Always had fun with this game on the ol Genny, figured I'd like to give the PCE version a try.

Not really sure what to offer. I'm not looking for a phenomenal deal or anything, I'll pay going rate.

Not sure what the best forum for this would be.

I've found an item I'd like to pick up from a Japanese web store but they do not ship to the US. Of course the problem is that I live in the US.

Does anyone know a way to get this done? A middleman service maybe or some sort of service that could provide a Japanese shipping address which would then forward the package to me? A really trust worthy member here that lives in Japan.

Also I'm not sure if I can pay for the item myself, the middleman service would need to do that for me.

Any information would be helpful. Hopefully some one has experience with this.

Ah sorry. I guess I don't see it as any different than buying from Sparky or dropping links to the materials.

But, I'll edit/remove this. Thanks for the heads up Zeta.

Guess I'll be investing in a printer and CD burner

Not sure about this really, but I think I'm gonna try to pick up some OBI/spine cards for my games that are missing them. I never really cared terribly much if they are present in my games so I've ended up with plenty missing them.

I'd be willing to pay a fair price if anyone doesn't mind getting rid of theirs. I know sometimes you end up with a spine even if you didn't care if it was included. Plenty of common games here...

Browning
Cho Aniki / Super Big Brother
Download 2
Fatal Fury Special
Hellfire S
Macros 2036
Macross Eternal Love Song
Psychic Storm
Shubibinman 3 / Shock Man 3
Seirei Senshi Spriggan / Spriggan
Side Arms Special
Star Parodier
Strider
Summer Carnival '92 Alzadick
Summer Carnival '93 Nexzr
Super Darius 2
Tanjou Debut
Battleship Yamato / Star Blazers

It would be nice to find a couple of these at least. If not, I'm not gonna be real heart broken. Thanks for looking.

Quote from: savageone on 09/03/2015, 03:48 PMWell that was surprisingly enthralling. Makes me want more similar reading.

Estaban, any chance you can dig up the article you mention? I'd be very interested in reading that.
Yeah, I have to, because different pictures were in it. And they talked about all the old-skool mechanical-electric stuff.

Let me see...I might have an old bookmark (I love Soviet/Cold War stuff) on my old laptop....when I get home I'll check it out.

Hundreds of old links (95% probably broken) await me!
Haha I hear ya, until a few years ago I was dragging around a bookmark file that had carried from Mosaic, to IE, to Netscape, to so many iterations of Firefox it'd be impossible to count. The html file was 6-7 megs, pretty ridiculous. I kicked the habit though finally a few years ago.

Good luck finding it. If not can you toss some hints it? Where/when you saw it or some key words. This isn't gonna need the way back machine or anything right? My quick dirty searches didn't have any luck.

Quote from: LMS on 08/30/2015, 06:02 PMI'm pretty sure I have a couple of spare BlueBMW misprints. I'll have to climb up into a crawl space to double check but assuming they're still there, I'm more than happy to pass them on for the price of shipping if folks are in need. I'm UK based.
It is definitely of interest to me. If I'd known it existed before starting this thread I'd just as well tried seeking it out.

Definitely let me know what you find, it'd be a great help.

Regards

Small hoard of bmw discs in some mysterious crawl space. hah funny thought

Ya know thinking about it... I know it was far more important in the TG16's case but as far as pack-ins they absolutely killed it with the Duo didn't they?

Specifically the one with Ninja Spirit as the pack-in hucard. Ninja Spirit, Ys 1/2, Bonk 1/2, and Gate of Thunder... Wow. Maybe it was desperation and too late but that might just be the best pack-in game set that I can think of.

Honorable mentions:
Genesis w/ Sonic 1/2
Super Nintendo w/ All Stars / World (bonus points if Wal Mart strapped a Super Games Boy to it.

Nice video, I always like to try to spot unreleased stuff but nothing jumped out at me in this one. Got a bit of laugh right at the end, all this super high end tech and then... A ping pong table.

Alien Crush
China Warrior
Dungeon Explorer
Keith Courage in Alpha Zones
Legendary Axe
Power Golf
R-Type
Victory Run
Vigilante

These are the games that were available at launch. I think Keith Courage was a fair choice when you look at just this bunch. It does just enough to show case some things the system can do and is kind of right there in the middle as far as quality of what was available.

Thank god they didn't go with China Warrior because "oohh, super huge sprites". Ugh.

Quote from: guest on 08/29/2015, 05:38 AMNot strictly an update but it's PC Engine day on my YouTube channel which means this little experiment:
Best enjoyed full screen HD.
That is great, nice surreal vibe to it. If enough of them existed I could definitely see letting a playlist of them run on my old HDTV that I converted into a big old digital picture frame.

Keep up the great work on the site, one of my all time favorites. I wish the music was hosted as individual tracks somewhere.

Quote from: esteban on 08/28/2015, 07:50 AMI think that, unfortunately, you are in a no-win situation.

Or, perhaps, it can be improved, but currently you have managed to annoy everyone.

I don't intend to make you feel bad, but if you think about it, there were much safer ways for you to:
(1) remind us who you are
(2) show us that you can participate in discussions
(3) read some of the recent threads so you don't KICK A HORNET'S NEST by posting a  "WTB bootleg Sapphire" after a hiatus of ___years. :)
(4) Who are you?
well i did not think i was being annoying or anything, im gonna assume it is probably just my writing style coming off the wrong way if that is the case. i tend to write too damn much which probably makes it worse. lol i thought i was doing a fair job explaining anything that was questioned. the thread seems more calm now to me. i really hope that is not because i annoyed everyone away. lol

you did hit the nail on the head that while ive been around a long time im totally out of the loop for the recent years. there is actually a reason for this though, its one of those great medical things that like to kick you in the ass when you least expect. i doubt anyone here cares to hear my boohoo story though, it has made it soooo extremely difficult to keep up with the daily news let alone the current state of opinion on fake sapphire over at pcfx.

i thought it was okay to want to buy this game even if it has some drama surrounding it, its a bit unfair to be grilled over simply wanting to buy a game in my opinion, but ive tried to explain anything that was questioned without stepping on toes. if i rubbed anyone the wrong way when trying to explain why i want this game and such then i truly do apologize. that was not my intention what so ever.

ive never had any problems with trying to buy a game through any forum, really unexpected. :-s

when i bought my arcade card it was primarily for the impressive snk ports, strider of course, and sapphire.

unfortunately i slowly acquired the other games first and the price for sapphire went bonkers...

i suppose i am offering a high price for the fake. ive been mostly lurking on various forums (ng, dp, pcfx, sega16, nesworld, dlord, other places long since shut down, etc etc) for over 15 years now, i dont think anyone is gonna jump to give someone who is not well known a great deal or anything so thats why im offering that much. im not really trying to be supportive of the constant jacking that has plagued many communities for the last 7-10 years per se, it is just what i feel a little old lurker like me is probably gonna have to pay. if i create an ad i want to give myself a good chance of actually getting what i want. i guess that is the price of preferring to read and not getting too involved in the drama

any ways i am not familiar with a sapphire disc made by bmw? is it a cdr? ill definitely try to search and see what i find on that so I can see if that would suit me.

this is carrying on though isnt it... if anyone wants to give a fair deal im all for that O:) maybe someone will see this and understand where i stand and toss me the fake at a good price, who knows?

lol love you guys but give a me a break will ya?

man i really regret not getting a real copy when it was around $100 sigh... i *wish* this post was meant to troll. lol

look at the asking prices (note asking) for a real copy i cant afford that. i just want to play the game without missing a car payment.

sure i could make a cdr but i guess i just want to go a step higher... soooo im gonna go for the fake one. and yeah i want the fake obi that came with it. if im gonna have to pay a decent chunk of change i might as well make sure i get the whole fake package. ive always heard its well made if anything.

and it looks like its not uncommon to own the fake here. strange how no one is like "oh god ive been waiting sooo long for someone anyone willing to take this piece of fake crap" though ya know? jaja

Very happy to say I got the game, many thanks. O:)

I'm going to leave the thread open with similar titles for awhile in case you guys want to use it for raffle info or something.

TZD used to have tons of legitimate replacement hucard cases. Those are easy to spot because the trays are black unlike the normal dark gray. Where the hell they all went is a good question.  :-k
#20
The BIN on that DH does seem excessive. But in all fairness in the last thread some were talking about the previous DH auction that ended at ~$440 (via bids) and I believe a few of us agreed that the price was a "value" relative to Magical Chase considering DH is much more difficult to find.
#21
List overhauled, still going at it. Thanks for the bid of confidence Zeta. :)
#22
List updated, offer prices adjusted.
#23
Bumpoooo, still looking for these games. Lets work out some deals. :)
#24
Thanks for all the input guys, sounds like everyone does something slightly different. I do prefer to use actual games but wouldn't mind burning a disc if it proved to be a reliable benchmark.

What worries me right now is I was playing Castlevania and in that first cutscene a few levels in where you rescue Maria the background music seemed rather distorted. I thought that would be a CD track but listening to all the tracks on the CD it doesn't seem to be there. What sort of audio does that cutscene use? The youtube video is rather quiet so it's hard to tell if there is any distortion on the audio or if that is normal, unfortunately my other Duo isn't on hand at the moment for comparison.
#25
I'll look into those and if anything I could just keep using Castlevania but still hoping for something quicker.

For the load times I'm comparing the loading on two systems yea. I really doubt there will be much difference but I'd like to do it any ways, I suppose just about any game will do but with all the problems Duo systems have I thought there would be some defacto benchmarks to run.
#26
I'm looking for a game that could test out the sound on a Turbo Duo system. Anyone know of any game that has a good sound test menu that will test all the different sorts of audio (as in not just CD audio) the Turbo Duo outputs? A nice bonus would be something that could easily recorded and matched up for comparison with a 2nd system.

Similarly: What would be a good game to run CD load time tests with?
#27
I was just gonna post about that, I guess it's confirmed that the seller was indeed shill bidding the hell out of that.
#28
You are the first sir, and thank you much for the welcome. PM replied.

Sure it works and doesn't really require any grasp of Japanese, but everything is still in Japanese. These sorts somewhat pointless repros are made for a lot of systems and can be pretty cool examples of what could have been, TG seems a bit left out for these things at the moment.
#30
I'm always up in the air about these things, I dislike bootlegs of games that exist (Sapphire) but reproductions of games that don't are another thing.. If someone made a high quality "US version" of Rondo that matched up with typical Duo games I'd be down for one. :P

I ordered some extension cables for Duo controllers at monoprice, I think it was about 6 bucks for two of them.. They are beige colored but they work great none the less. Not sure if they will have the cable you need for the original TG16 but they have tons of cables so odds are they will.
