While playing my recapped turbo express, I heard a pop, and the screen flickered a bit, and then a few minutes later the same, and the unit continued to work. However now when i turn it on i get a green screen for a moment then the system turns goes to the game.

Did it do that before and am i just being paranoid, or should i be concerned?

I seem to remember the screen being black before going to the game, or when there is no game. Can someone else confirm this?

Well for staters we would need to analyze the turbo booster plus, or the turbo cds memory setup.

Then find a compatible memory chip, and make the pins line up to the right pins on the back using the booster as the guide. Then you might be able to do it.

It will be a bit more complicated then how i just said it, but not outside the realm of possibility.

Is there a conveniant list for all of the 5-player TG16/PCE/Duo games?

Wow, that's impressive.

Quote from: TheOldMan on 09/15/2011, 06:17 PMAc adapter goes in upper left. There's a space for it. You do have to have the original power brick, and the cords need bundled up and tucked outside the box area (If I remember correctly. It' been a long time since I packed my cd setup in the case).
RF adapter goes in upper right. Pads go beside the base unit, I think. I'll double check when I get a chance.
Is that how the original manual said to do it?

I'm really curious about the best way to fit this stuff, there just doesn't seem to be any good way to do it.

I would have to say figuring out how to stuff the ac adapter in is the most difficult.

I Own a Turbografx16 with a cd unit, and i also have the carrying case.

Does anyone know how your supposed to fit everything into it properly?

As a matter of fact lets make it a competition!

Items to fit:

Turbo CD AC adapter
1 TurboPad
AV Cable
TurboGrafx 16 w/ CD

Bonus Points if you can properly fit:

A TurboTap
additional Turbopads
extension cables

The lid must close easily and not fall open when you let it go!

I used mouser electronics, they carry a wide assortment of parts.

I bought the 8PDT switch i needed for region modding my turbo from them.

Highly recommended

For my TG16CD, I chose to use the F8UEE 8PDT switch with my system, and found it easy to hide it inside the system.
The switch is mounted onto a piece of sticky insulation paper with 2 part apoxy, and the insulation paper is stuck onto the motherboard. It doesn't move at all inside the system.
I drilled a small hole so i could push it with a screwdriver when i want to switch regions.

When the TG16 is plugged into the TGCD the hole is hidden.
This also makes sure that the region cant be switched while the unit is on.

Did the gear work in the system?

I looked up the main IC inside the turbotap, and found that it is some sort of customizable chip NEC was producing at the time.

It features many different possible functions that a developer could use. Including Multiplexing. Which is the part I assume is used for the turbotap.

It looks like things are starting to look up for making gear replacements.

What does the Cd Dock use for saving? Is it a battery, or an NVRAM chip?

Quote from: Official Ninja on 12/06/2010, 09:35 AMMy plans to make this gear are on hold for now. We had decided to cast the gears and had all the materials ready to order. Problem is I need a gear to make a mold of the gear.
What were you going to make them out of?

One day, my friends and I were about to play Bomberman, but found the controller cables weren't long enough.

I had a brilliant idea, or so i thought, I would plug my Turbo Tap into my lone extension cable. Then we would all have enough cord to be a decent distance from the tv.

After plugging it in, the system acted bizarre, controller one was controlling all of the bombers at the same time. Similar things happen with the game dungeon explorers.

Does this happen to anyone else?

If i had this gear in a cad document , it would be much easier to get quotes

I bought a radio shack digital soldering station for repairing video game consoles. It cost 80 dollars, and does everything i need it to.

I think the first thing we need is an accurate diagram, or cad document of the gear. That way we can get quotes from various companies.

Quote from: BlueBMW on 11/11/2010, 10:14 PMAlternatively.. find yourself a nice Duo-R and region mod the thing :D
I might have to do that, a duo-r would pretty much solve the whole issue.
Although it irks me to have the whole TG-16 and CD and not have it work.

I was talking to a company called print to 3d, he gave me a rough estimate of under 100 dollars, but he wasnt quite sure until he could see it. I havent sent out the remains of my gear yet. (it has a couple teeth left)

I recently bought myself a turbografx 16 with the the cd add-on. When I started using the CD drive, it shredded its gear.

I have been looking inside of old CD players hoping to find a working alternative. At the same time i am trying to get a new gear made for me by various companies.

I figured as far as finding one, i could scavenge one from a Sony discman, seeing as how the turbo cd is basically a Sony discman itself.
After opening a discman 131, I found a similar gear, but it didnt have a spindle hole.

After that failed I checked ebay for cheap sony cd players from around 1989, and found that the things are actually worth more than i had imagined. Im not about to spend 30 dollars on a maybe.

Has anyone else found a suitable gear in something? Or maybe you have an old discman you can check for the gear and post the model number.
