Got to play a few of them last night. Seems like they are all decent games.

I dont know if I really got Silent Debuggers so I'm gonna have to play it some more and see if I can figure it out though.

Legendary Axe II was a lot of fun, but the last stage I got to was crazy hard. Robots everywhere.

Also really enjoyed Tiger Road.

They rest were all solid, but I was already expecting them to be. Those 3 I singled out above I didnt really know anything about. I'm also lucky enough to have 2 more TG games coming in the mail from a trade. R-Type and Battle Royale. Really getting my TG juices flowing.

I've had my TG and a measly 3 games for nearly 2 years without finding anything new for it. On a trip out of town my brother-in-law snuck me out to some flea markets and I found:

Alien Crush
Bonk's Adventure
Legendary Axe II
Raiden
Silent Debuggers
Splatterhouse
Tiger Road

Everything had the manuals, cases, Hu Cards and Sleeves. Paid $100 for the lot, but I was happy to do so since its so rare that I see any TG stuff. Also grabbed a Turbo Grafx Secrets Guide Book for $2 at another flea market the following day. Cant wait to dig into them!

Oh, my. It's only uphill from here. What a horrible game to start a collection on.
Thats why I like to collect and play everything myself. I've heard Ordyne was bad, but I actually like it a lot. Played through it multiple times even beat it with the girl to get the "true" ending.

Thanks for pointing out the level design differences from Sparkman to Mega Man. That was definitely one of the best parts about Mega Man.

Quote from: TheClash603 on 01/11/2011, 06:47 AMShockman is not in the same league as Mega Man, and is one of the more expensive hu games.  If you are only getting one game, I wouldn't start with that one.
I love Mega Man enough that even sub-par Mega Man clones are better than most games to me. I still need to look into a few more games that have been recommended, but this one is leading the pack so far. I also dont have a problem knocking off the pricier games first. Makes finishing up a collection go that much quicker.

What kind of stuff got censored in the US Splatterhouse release? It doesnt really bother me if its just blood/gore and language that get censored.

I've never heard of Shockman, but I love Mega Man so I'm definitely gonna check out some videos of that one and it might be the game I get this year.

I was looking specifically for Hu card only games, but thanks for the vast amount of recommendations!! I've got tons of different games form a huge variety of genres to look into now.

Someone asked which games I already had. Right now I've only got Ordyne, Sidearms and Blazing Lazers. I've beaten all 3 of them and am looking for something else to sink my teeth into.

I'm looking to add another TG16 game to my collection sometime this year and so far all I own are shooters. Lets hear some recommendations from other genres. What are your favorites?

Oh, and just to be nitpicky, Japanese games are also NTSC, as NTSC Region ≠ US Region.
I was aware of that, but for some reason have gotten into the habit of referring to NTSC as North American only. Thanks for fixing my error.

Quote from: termis on 01/04/2011, 06:00 AMIf you're not willing to import, let me be honest and say save your money.  There's Ys I & II, Lord of Thunder, Gates of Thunder... and that's about it when it comes to absolute must-have of titles for US CD-based titles.  (And for GoT, that's more of a popular opinion rather than my own)

There are certainly another dozen or so good titles (Valis III, Forgotten Worlds, Last Alert, Ys III etc), but owning a Duo and not importing CD titles is severely limiting, to the point where I say don't bother.
Thats kind of the impression I had already. When I am ready to buy I'll look into the library a bit deeper and if I can find at least 5-10 games that I REALLY want, I might still grab one anyway. Thanks for your views and game suggestions!

Thanks for all the suggestions and advice guys!! I appreciate it!

The reason I will be collecting as many NTSC Hucards as I can is because I very often like "crappy" games. I wont know if I enjoy them or not until I can experience them myself. And I've found that emulating them doesnt give you quite the same experience, plus I actually enjoy tracking games down.

I've also go no interest in importing games. Is it still worth it to get a Duo if I'll only be getting NTSC CD games? For that route I'll be much pickier with which games I get and the condition of them.

I tend to keep my games for a very long time and play them a lot so I prefer cartridge based games/consoles whenever possible. That said I wouldnt be against getting a Duo eventually and a small handful of CD based games. I just have a much higher interest in the HU card games.

Are the Duos region locked?

Hi everyone,
I couldn't find any sort of introduction thread so I thought it start my own. Please point me in the right direction if there is one already. Thanks!

Anyway I missed out on the TG during my childhood, but have been a lone time gamer. The last few years I've been collecting (and playing everything I collect) games for all sorts of systems. This year I was lucky enough to find a TG16 locally and have been loving it! I cant believe I missed out on it for this long.

I'm about halfway to getting a complete set of licensed NES games (excluding Stadium Events), but after that my goal is going to be nabbing all the NTSC TG16 games (possibly excluding Magical Chase). I thought it would be a good idea to join a knowledgable community like this one in order to get as comfortable with the system as I can in the meantime. I'll still pick up the odd TG game here and there while I'm finishing up my NES goal.

Also I thought this might be a good place to Buy/Sell/Trade some games.

Looking forward to learning lots about the TG16 from you guys!
