Thats cool, I actually have my TG16 and a regular PC going over to a 1080S, but I must admit, I am not using a SCART cable. We dont have'em here in Canada. So for sure, it can be done. So I will have to defer to another for an SCART pinout.

Where are you tapping your RGB signal from?
#5
Yeah, on my TG16, when I used 5V, the mod was iffy at best. So I would rather use a higher voltage.
But the voltage regulator doesnt seem as obvious to me on the Express, so if you have a pic, that would rock!

Hey guy's

Where do you tap power from for TurboExpress Region Mod?

I have an old Commodore 1084S, which is why I will attempt the RGB mod. This monitor accepts RGB.
So to get that all to work, its cheap.

Not sure how much to build an RGB -> Component would cost.

Quote from: ScumBum on 02/04/2011, 09:39 PMHow much does an RGB mod run ? Is the RGB mod reliable , or can the system be damaged ?
If you do it yourself, the mod would be pretty cheap. The components to complete one would be just a few dollars.
As far as reliabilty, it really depends on the construction, but for the most part, even a simple one would be quite reliable.
Damage to the system would only occur during the mod, if proper care was not taken. On my US TG16, theres some much room to work with, I can't see how I could mess it up. (Done the region mod, and that is far more involved.)

I couldnt figure out why it wasnt snagged yet

Sweet, a fellow Ottawa Turbo Grafx fan. Do you have any soldering experience yourself? Your issue might be a single cap replacement as per this sticky; https://www.pcengine-fx.com/forums/index.php?topic=5015.0 But I understand the full cap replacement if you want to do some preventative maintenance.

I'm on the hunt for a Turbo Express myself, maybe i'll get a chance to practice on a broken one.

Well, outside of getting some games, my next step is an AV mod, so I can connect this thing anywhere.
I have an old Commodore 1084s ( I used to use it to test my Arcade JAMMA boards, so I needed a true RGB monitor) so an RGB mod is probably coming soon.

I feel some guilt in butchering the console, but I guess I can always buy a complete boxed one, should a steal come along. Anyone else feel bad about it?

Quote from: guest on 01/19/2011, 04:27 PMWelcome aboard the crazy train!  Now ya need some extra controllers (two of which should have six-buttons to play Street Fighter 2 properly), a tap, and Bomberman '93/'94 and Dungeon Explorer so you can tap into the multiplayer awesomeness.
Yeah, already browsing for an Avenue 6 pad. As far as multiplayer, most people I know wouldn't understand why I'm playing with this, but for the sake of collecting, I will probably pick up some extra controllers and a tap. Don't think the wife will ever play.

Thanks TurboStar,

I will have to look at that game, I know i didnt own it. I only remember owning Aero Blasters, Bonk series, TV Sports hockey and legendary Axe.

Hey Everyone,

Just got my account activated not long ago on here, thought I would post my first now. So wat brought me here?
I had a Turbo when I was young, and I recently had a nostalgia bug to play some Turbo Grafx 16 games maybe 3 weeks ago. I downloaded an emu and some roms to bring some memories. Oddly enough. one of the roms was Street Fighter 2 CE, which was my favorite game in the early 90's. But everyone here knows, that game didnt exist in North America for the TG16, so I sold it and bought an SNES. To my amazement, the PCE port of SF2CE is impressive.

That being said, the bug hit to get one of these units hit, and playing SF2CE was a necessity. So Google brought me here.....

So in the last 3 weeks, what has happened?

I bought a TG16 locally, used, with Keith Courage. One controller. Standard North American Combo
I ordered SF2CE from someone on ebay, 13$ I think
I ordered some game bits on ebay
I ordered some IC's and built a region mod pcb (i dabbled in projects like this in the past, so I was comfortable with it)
I received my SF2CE Hu 2 days ago
I received the game bits last night
I opened the console and installed the mod last night

Everything works. Let the collecting begin!

Thanks you all for contributing to this forum, it helped this new collector get started.  I'll see if I can share some pics with you all to show you what I did.
