@GTV reviews the Cosmic Fantasy 1-2 Switch collection by Edia, provides examples of the poor English editing/localization work. It's much worse for CF1. Rated "D" for disappointment, finding that TurboGrafx CF2 is better & while CF1's the real draw, Edia screwed it up...

Enter me please. And I want to be in on the raffle too.

I ordered mine last night by actually reaching out and requesting one. It was already tracked and mailed by this morning. That, my friends, is customer service. I can hardly wait for this game to be in my grubby dick beaters.

The OP is obviously the same kind of guy that goes into a massage place, asks the non-english speaking ladies for a "FBSM" and gets pissed when there is nothing happy about the ending.

Seen it a million times...

An intro post asking to buy tends to be met with less than favorable results. Coming on here and expecting to get anything without some sort of establishing of yourself is a sure way to get shooed away.

Welcome.

I just got my Express back from Keith Courage so it's recapped, in near mint shape and has the original box. Think I can get $500 on E-bay? Based on other comments, I can  take $10 off in case of an offer. Sounds about right.

You lucky sob. Wow. My wife is pretty supportive so I shouldn't give her too much shit. I have a motorcycle hobby that works in tandem with my PCengine obsession to remove money from my bank account. Glad the LT stayed in the group though. I'm super jelly.

Sadder yet, 8 sold. I guess people like smoking butt crack.
Strange that there are a couple of other copies, one of which CIC, that are far less money than this one. I've bought from this seller before and their prices were pretty good (Devils Crush and Alien Crush) so this is sad to see.

You go to MAGFest? Last year we started a museum area, with more focus on 8 and 16bit consoles and computers. Turbo representation might not be as large(we had 4 obey setups running last year) as Turbofest at MGC but we are getting a larger room for next year. I also bring a couple of turbob to Animazement. Retro section there is only about 18 setups, 2600 to PS1.
I'm familiar but have not gone. I need to do one of these -fest get togethers.

That sounds a lot like a store we had down here in south florida called BEST
Interestingly, according to Wikipedia, Best was headquartered right here in Richmond and died off 2 years before Service Merchandise in 1997 (which actually lasted until 2001 before croaking at the very end of the year). I never knew.

Quote from: GoldenWheels on 04/04/2016, 03:45 PMNobody else got their games at Service Merchandise huh? Maybe that's a regional thing. I was always impressed that the games were sold next to jewelry.
I remember this place. We had to drive to Atlanta to one but my father bought several lenses for his Minolta camera in the late 80's at that place for good prices. I think he might have bought my original Nintendo there (but he really got it at K-Mart. That's a secret) as well as games for xmas. Neat place that got edged out by Wal-Mart/K-Mart who is now being edged out by Amazon. Funny how that goes.

Good call on Service Merchandise. I had forgotten that name completely.

I grew up in a bumble fuck town in Georgia named Rome. We had a Wal-Mart and a K-Mart. Every kid knew that you NEVER, EVER shopped at K-mart, even if you actually did, and that any toy you got for xmas or b-day was from Wal-Mart or Wilbro or, if it was a video game, KB Toys. I wore a pair of blue jeans to school in 1988, so about 8th grade, and because they were so blue (fucking blue, sooooo fucking blue), some kids asked me about them. They were Levi's and expensive so there was no questioning my parents taste...BUT I committed the forever sin of saying they got them at "JC Penney, right across the street from K-Mart". Those mother fuckers heard "K-Mart" and for the next 5 years, my hands never touched quality boobs.

I had a Redline bicycle in 1979, most bad ass bike in Fort Worth Texas. I left it out front of my home one day and it was stolen because 5 year olds are fucking irresponsible. My grandmother gave the police an apt description of a "colored guy" that made off with the bike, reinforcing the stereotype in my mind of a purple colored man stealing my things. When it was not recovered, and after I had sufficiently cried my eyes out for days, my parents bought me a Mongoose. I found out years later that it was a competition bike with a 3 piece pedal set and the frame was chromoly. I sold it to a dude in Australia in 2012, all beaten up and in shitty shape, for $900 bucks. True story.

I got fat after that and started playing video games. Fat dropped off, got some pussy, ruined for life and 20 odd years later, I'm on a website devoted to video games. Jesus H.

I am enjoying exploring what with system has offer and sad I missed it the first time around.
Welcome. For me (and apparently quite a few others), there has always been something about the TG-16/PC Engine that stood out over all the other offerings. It's hard to put down. I'm on my third go around owning this system.

You found an RX at a local place? Lucky you. I've never seen a Duo for sale, much less an RX, anywhere but on the internet.

Boy, would I hate to tell my wife and employer that I'm actually just a kid. On the other hand, my doctoral committee would be thrilled to have awarded a Ph.D. to someone under the age 18. All of this Gen X on Millennial violence. When will it all end? Hopefully never because I hate the fucks. I grew up when games were 50-60 bucks and allowance was 5 bucks a week, if you were lucky, and Mongoose was a bike you DIDN'T buy from Wal-Mart.

Quote from: ginoscope on 03/16/2016, 01:58 PMThese threads are always funny.

Never understand why new people don't take constructive criticism and get all butt hurt right away.  I guess I have always been of the mentality that if I am in a new place you learn the way things work.  Not saying you have to be a mindless drone but just simple respect for a community.
The internet has been around for 30 years at this point, 20 of it for which we can get onto sites like this and talk to other like minded people. You would think (there's the punch line) that most everyone has, at one point or another, gotten involved with an online forum and seen these type of happenings.

But who am I kidding? Donald Trump might be the next president, and I never expected that.

Hey man,

You gotta understand. This happens a lot by a lot of people who could give two shits about us or the community as a whole. Cool, you made a mistake, But it was a mistake.

Glad you joined. Maybe make a welcome post, before immediately going to the FS section, and trying to get deals on our fine wares. Makes you look less like a dirty reseller, who wants to get a good deal and flip it.

Pro tip (We are pretty tight knit, and well, people who create an account and immediately go to FS generally are here just to leech off the good deals. Because that happens. A lot.)

Welcome,

~Ryan

Quote from: SamIAm on 03/14/2016, 05:49 AMI've googled this a lot in Japanese, but with very few results to show for it.

In PCE magazines, they released sales rankings with "scores" that were based on the actual sales number divided by some mystery variable. To make matters worse, every now and then, they even changed the variable. If we could find out some hard numbers for particular games and make up a database of all the "scores", we might start to get somewhere, but there just isn't a reliable enough source out there.

A lot of people do say that Tengai Makyo II was the best selling game, but even then, the numbers are all over the place. There was a magazine that said 500k. Hudson said 300k. The writer/director said 200k. And there's a sales records website that says 130k.

I personally think there is room to doubt whether TMII really was the top selling game. We know from multiple reliable sources there were about 1 million Japanese Duo owners, about 3.8 million base PCE owners, and that about 1 million of those base PCE owners had the CD expansion. That's twice as many people who can play Hucards as can play CDs. Personally, I wouldn't be surprised if the best selling game is one of the Hucards from late 1989/early 1990, just because that was the peak time for the system.

This chart came from a PCE magazine from 1993 (I think). The bars are base PCE systems (white) and CD-ROM systems (black) and the lines are total Hucard sales (red) and CD game sales (green). The left y-axis corresponds to the systems, and goes up to 4 million, while the right y-axis corresponds to game sales and goes to 6 million.

Thanks for that. I don't think I'm too worried about it yet but with the pending loss of my old TV, I'm just a little concerned about playing my old consoles on a newer TV. I'm fortunate that this Sony has S-video at all. But one day, I might not have this one either and I'd just like to have an option which is where the Framemeister comes into play.

Sorry for that long story. I was really just kind of talking out loud and got way off the original topic. To sum up all of my posts, thumbs down on the Panlong HDMI upscaler.

Ok I have been through the house, used all 3 TV's and hooked up the Duo-R, a SNES and a Saturn. Absolutely none of them work through this device on either of my modern HD televisions. The Sony I have here, my 40 inch, is a good bit nicer than my newer but bigger Samsung, a 52 inch. It shows as the TV supports 240p and will adjust for 4:3 automatically. The Samsung also supports 240p but has to be forced into 4:3. Regardless, none of the systems worked on the new tv's but looked the part on my old Samsung HDTV/SDTV tube telly, the one I used for years to play my stuff on. It's a 32 inch and I can watch TV on it right now in 1080i or 720p through component. My Sony is upstairs hooked to my desktop office/gaming computer and in the need for more space, I want to get rid of the old Samsung. My plan is to make my office space into my area where I can work, play games, beat off. My wife wants to make the 3rd bedroom into a, well, 3rd bedroom, so the old TV needs to go. Long story, sorry.

This Sony flat screen has s-video and it's perfect for my Duo-R. It looks as good as the old Samsung, but most of my consoles don't have s-video on them. My Duo-R has the mod from Keith Courage. It seems that the Framemeister is my only choice that will allow me the most flexibility.

Anyone have one for cheap?
