Same here, MSRP or bust.

They already said on the Steam forums that they couldn't have a sale because of the contract, that's why I pulled the trigger at full price.

I will have to take a look at this, but I concur a nicely made full size bar top in the MVS style would sell gangbusters.  I'd pay $300+ for something like that with a collection of basically all the games, either up front or nickel and dime me through some kind of storefront or new cartridges - just make the hardware solid.

I am pump!

I got the SNES classic when it came out at TRU, it's pretty cool but like everybody else I have my opinions on what games I'd exchange for what is there.  It's an 80% (as in personally enjoyable) lineup.  My number one game is Super Punch Out, which I still need to finish, and my last place game is SF2 (available on everything, plus I bought the PCE port a while ago which I prefer).

The NES classic will be much the same where the entire library isn't perfect but it's pretty good.  I hope I can nab one on the re-release, it was impossible on the first round to get one (I was screwed over by Amazon.)  TRU may not be around to do the NES Classic (I haven't kept up with TRU news) but I hope they or someone just like them makes it easy to get one.

I don't know if something better will come out, but I bought seasons 6 and 7 to finish up my collection on Steam.  I got the other seasons on sale for $10/$20 dollars at time by waiting patiently, but this time they said they were under contract not to put it on sale before the deadline.  The DLC packs are crazy expensive even when you compare it to real pinball collecting/paying by 25c a play/etc, and I've bought the last two begrudgingly.  There are some good games in there and it's worth it for me to have access it to them, but I agree with the shortcomings that have come many times elsewhere.  I think the worst is the mood/lighting/textures of the room that you play the pins in.  That terrible wood floor texture is probably the thing that irks me the most.. so easy to have added a room customization feature where you could maybe earn items (bust up or waist down framed pic of elvira pls) or set up your favorite 3 pins together.  Meanwhile Pinball FX has their issues, but those tables are routinely on sale for a dollar or less a piece.  For the time being, it's one of the best ways to play real pins with no/poor access to the real versions, with no legal grayness.  But I do hope there is a successor that can wrangle other cool licenses (big bang par please!)

Thanks for the insight, everyone!

Quote from: Gypsy on 04/28/2018, 10:34 AMMy bought near release copy of Order of Ecclesia has French and Spanish on the back of the case. Don't have the other game you are worried about so I can't check that. It's...probably fine though. I've seen bootleg Pokemon ds carts and they were pretty obvious.
I think my copy of Ecclesia is legit then, I think I just felt like everything I could be buying that was both a.) new/shrinkwrapped in 2018, and b.) a universally praised game could be a bootleg.  I still think my Ghost Trick might be, I don't see how such an obvious manufacturing defect like having the label upside down could happen (unless it was known they were all that way?)  Otherwise it seems like someone put it together by hand.  The rest of it looks real though...

Hey guys, I know I've been a stranger but I have been trying to lurk!  Work has been keeping me full time busy.

Anyway, I recently got the bug to buy some DS games, but I'm wondering about two:  Castlevania and Ghost Trick, particularly Ghost Trick.  The weird thing about that one was the cover art was inserted upside down and then it was shrinkwrapped that way (non-factory, do it yourself with your home shrinkwrapping machine looking shrinkwrap).  Other than that I just don't see anything else suspicious looking.  Castlevania was also new, had a Y-fold shrinkwrap, and all the manuals and papers (I think).  What weirds me out about that one are the english/french/spanish stuff on the front and back cover which is strange for a US release.  When you start the game you can also choose between french or english.  Was that in the original release in the US?

They are legit seeming enough that I shouldn't care or worry, but I know they were popular games and I got "new" copies off of amazon sellers pretty easily so I thought they might be booties.  Only have a regular DS lite to test with, I heard that a DSi and 3DS would help to test since they might not boot in those if they are bootlegs.  If anyone has any other tips to figure it out, I'd love to hear them.  The cart stickers, manual quality, embossed nintendo logos in the plastic and everything are good.  Serial numbers match everywhere on the box and cart.

For the rest of you, here is a drawing of an anime nurse that came with the Eyeshield 21.  I guess the seller is an aspiring manga artist!

Doesn't look like any ever surfaced.  I guess I'll hold onto it for another raffle sometime in the future.

Sorry for the late wrap-up on this guys, this week was kinda busy for me.

No more interest in this?  Is the contest too much?

Absolutely!  Re-read the green text though, I renamed the OP to say "contest" to hopefully be more clear.  Wanted to have a little a more fun with it than picking a winner at random!
#13
Accidental double post, sorry!
#14
New rules!!!

So just to give this a kick in the pants, I'm instituting a deadline of 2/10/18 (That's two Saturdays from now, I'll take every entry up until midnight if it's an issue).

The new deal is that even if only one proper entry is received, they will become the de facto winner.  That means that anyone entering anything even moderately resembling a fighting game winning quote will get it.  (You must meet the other requirements below, also).  If I get more than one, I'll proceed normally with a poll.  If no one enters by the above date, then I'll shelve the contest for another time.  So if you want it, if you're the only entrant, you win!  (For the record, as I am posting this there are no valid entries)

-----

Hey guys (and gals),

I had the good fortune to win a raffle for Street Fighter II some time back from xcrement5x.  I've had my time with it and I'd like to pass on it to the next challenger.  It's a loosie, but plays great even without the box!

IMG

Rules:
1.) Be a member in good standing here at PCEFX. (Post more than I do lately, for example.)  Have at least 200 posts where you were participating in conversations and not just buying and selling.
2.) Keep in the family, no running off to Ebay.  Raffle it again for someone else here when you part ways with it.
3.) OK, so it's not really a raffle.  I want all participants to come up with their funniest winning quote i.e. "Go home and be a family man."  When we have enough entrants, I am going to post a poll in this thread and PCEFX will decide which is the funniest one.  If there's a tie I'll break it with a randomizer.
4.) Shipping is on me for USA and Canada entrants.  Other countries, you cover shipping.
5.) Go!

I discovered Soldier Blade a little late, so hunting for a viable/affordable copy to play.  The prices are pretty crazy on ebay, I need to check Rakuten/Suruga-ya too.  Definitely my fave of the SS series.
#17
Woah, that's a lot more titles than I thought, figured it was maybe a double width case thing.
#18
I got a complete (new, already opened it, don't worry) SFII for PCE.  I've never seen this weirdness with the little hooks and the holes in the hucard cover!  Any other games do that?
#19
I had a busy year, started a new job and didn't really find much time for finishing games but I did start a quite a few.  The ones that I did manage to beat... lemme think.  Resident Evil 7 might be the only one!  I poured a lot of time into Dark Souls II, almost done with it but trying to beat optional DLC bosses.  I just got Dragon Spirit for Xmas so I'll give that a shot soon.

Great and surprising selection of games. My only complaints are the length of the controller cords though I'm sure someone out there will be making extensions for them soon.
There's already extensions, check Amazon.  I bought a couple myself, they are plenty long!

Gypsy, sorry to hear about your loss, man.  I have been through the passing of a parent myself, and I feel for you.  My close friends helped me a lot during that time.  I think spending time with friends and focusing on work are both helpful distractions, but straight up grieving is part of the process too.

I just discovered Sno-Balls for the first time this past weekend... I've had 4 since...
My mother in law loves those too.  To each their own!  I feel like if someone just shredded some pink paper and covered the marshmallow in that the same way, I wouldn't be able to tell the difference.  I'm more in the twinkie camp, though it's been a while since I've had one of those...

1. Milky Way
2. Snickers
3. 3 Musketeers (I like nougat but it needs something else)
998. Mounds
999. Almond Joy

Some kid asked if I had any Almond Joys on Halloween, I was surprised to hear that request from a kid.  Like black licorice, coconut seemed like a candy only adults enjoyed.

I don't get why the warrior is so much bigger than everyone else... And why are they glowing?
Just some botched perspective, he is closer to us and they are further.  I think something to do with the angle of the cliff is making it seem too pronounced.  Iirc, players glow after activating certain black or white magic, but it has been a bit since I played it last.

It's been discussed here elsewhere, but I still think Motoroader's US art deserves some kind of WTF award.

We got the worst USA art ever.

At least CF2's is sort of funny.  It looks like a 12 year old drew it, but it's at least... accurate still?

I just started Stranger Things season 2 also, got two episodes in last night for Halloween.  The 2nd episode even took place during Halloween, so that matched up well.   I also played a few matches of Friday the 13th (in where I die in the first couple minutes every time, one day I'll get it).

Proud owner of a 1060 GTX now, so I am gonna run through RE7 again on my PC (I previously played through on my buddies PS4).  Some other games I have on PC that I couldn't run before that fit the bill are Dead Rising 3 and Evil Within (1).  I'll just see how I feel with my crumbs of free time...

Quote from: crazydean on 10/03/2017, 04:54 PMAre you playing SPO on the SNES classic? If so, have you noticed any problems with the timing?
Here is the thing, and why I need to amend my earlier comments about the SNES classic.  I actually can recommend grabbing it.  it is better than retro pi IMO. with the corded controllers at least on my 1080 TV there is almost no timing or lag.  Even in punch out.  Granted I am not great at SPO.  It's actually quite damn impressive.  I plan to add some games and see if this continues throughout.

I think I've noticed at best only a few moments on Mario Kart and F zero where the timing was off maybe just enough to make me think, was that me or the box? But I can never tell one way or the other.

Idk maybe Johnny has a different experience but this thing is pretty damn sweet for a plug and play into modern TVs. The picture may not be absolutely perfect but it's still good.

P.S. I am a waffler in the wind
Well, I haven't quite figured out if I just suck or if it's some kind of lag, probably the former if I had to wager on it!  Of these games, the one I probably have spent the most time on is Super Metroid, so I'll play through the beginning and let you know if anything feels off.  I don't have any complaints about the video quality, either.  It's a great complete package, complete with stuff like menu music, a demo system, system borders, and all that kinda stuff.  And with a streamlined collection of games so you can just play the damn things rather than be lost deciding what to play for a half an hour.

I'd probably buy a SNES classic 2 with different games if they released it, no qualms at all.  I will also try to get the re-release of the NES classic when that comes out.  I think a TG-16 (especially with some CD games) one would really kill right now given the market, I wonder if Nintendo/Konami could team up to make it happen... they got a couple of Konami games on the SNES, so...

So smug, these scalper pictures.  Really makes you want to see them lose their shirts.  In the meantime, I am trying to play through Super Punch Out!   I have beaten many of the games on it in my childhood - Super Metroid, Zelda III, Castlevania IV, FFIII, Starfox, and I forget which others but I am focusing on titles that I was interested in and didn't really play back then, like SPO and afterwards Super Ghouls n' Ghosts.  I have also only played the beginning of Secret of Mana, that might be next on the to play list.
#45
I'd be down for a C64 FPGA or something like this, Impossible Mission (and it's lesser sequel as a bonus) makes it worth it along with Temple of Apshai and plenty of other decent stuff.  I'd be all an MSX and Sharp 68K one, especially as a Konami fan.  Space Manbow needs a legit release somewhere in the USA!

I've seen lots of stuff here lately that I would be interested in, but cannot indulge due to a combination of life priorities and prices going up in general.  I think prices from long time members here are fair for the record, and honestly my only true idea of what these games are worth now.  It's definitely more of a life priorities thing though, I'm pretty house poor these days.  I still pick up a game or two now and then but I've gotta got want a game really bad to spend $200 bucks on it.  I'm just here for the company these days.
