I hate that most Americans now drop the H in "herb".  It doesn't make any sense!  It's not spelled "erb".  The only people I know that pronounce it "erb" are people with stong jamaican/caribbean accents, but that makes sense, because they're consistent.

For some reason, millions of people seem to have looked at one specific word, and decided "I don't need to say that part of it".  SO ANNOYING.

I gotta agree with Necro. The PR on this hasn't been great.

 I like dangdang as a person. He's a great guy. However, he's definitely not winning the favor of the community by condescending to everyone. People who have actually seen the demo are impressed... but we live in the post-Coleco-Chameleon world. People are going to be skeptical, and very few people have actually seen the thing. Thus, it sounds like a bunch of marketing hype with very little substance.

That said, no one has asked for money for this project. The best PR move would be "We hear your concerns, we agree that we came out too early, and please be patient with us. We won't ask for money until we have a product ready to sell." Getting into the weeds with members of the community doesn't do anyone any good.

Nice post.   I have no animosity towards Polymega, just 25+ years of internet experience.    Failed projects announced too early have been the butt of internet follies for a really long time, and they always seem to start out the same way...

It would be nice to suddenly wake up and hear about a previously unannounced console that is available for sale, but unfortunately no-one seems to want to follow that model.  Just remember - Mike Kennedy didn't ruin it for everyone else - that would be giving him too much credit as he was not the first - he just ruined it for the next couple guys.

Because when the referee starts throwing punches, you know the fight is fixed. So whats the point of trying to have a fair discussion in the first place? The actions of those in charge represent and warrant the credibility of the forum as a whole, and as someone who has used this forum as a source of good information and community for collecting over the years, its pretty sad to see this type of mud-slinging from someone in a position of power and authority. So I've called it out where normally I would pay such accusations no mind.

Necro is just another PCE fan who has mod clearance.  He is not the FBI or a referee.  And honestly, it is hard to argue with what he said, I also completely forgot about your project...

I like that NES project but a PCE port would makes me kinda worried about people just giving up on the complexity of HuC in general, let alone asm. Not that I want elitism in homebrew games but I just don't want our homebrew scene to be more limited than it already is.

Might act as a gateway drug though... something like that happened with the Atari 2600 when Batari basic was released.   There was an avalanche of shit put out right away, but a few of the guys who started with Batari Basic ended up fighting through it and creating some good stuff...

If they started with the same Sega Ages collection from the Saturn, then I would double dip.

What Sega really needs to start doing is re-releasing Saturn games.  Maybe with some updates graphics, maybe not, but there are too many gems too few people have played.

AT&T can go back to blocking FaceTime, slowing down bit-torrent traffic if they want.  Comcast and Verizon can start charging Netflix for access to their networks etc etc.  Let's see who will be able to get the most out of Google...  Hopefully it doesn't end up like a cable tv menu where you get to pick from a list of packages and web services you can access for your monthly fees, because that is where it was heading...

VGA boxes are an officially supported 1st party peripheral. There's even a logo for it on some games that support it. VGA boxes were made by Naki, Nuby, Sega, and lord knows who else. Maybe you should try something vintage that they made thousands of good examples of instead of this garagista bullshit.

This reminds me - I have 3 Dreamcasts and all 3 have the lid switch jumpered due to failure of the switch.. I can't use a swap disk...

Need to find some replacement lid switches...

Edit:  Looks like these switches are unobtanium...  they have to be refurbed or replaced with an external switch...  Maybe I'll try that this weekend.

Words take new meanings all the time, even if initially it was a misnomer, and the use of the word "retro" in such a way has been around at least since the Namco museum series for the PSX, so we are talking mid-90s here.
