Quote from: guest on 08/23/2013, 07:54 AMSeller must have fixed the listing... Originally, the photograph was of a Sega Saturn with Samsung branding.. it actually had the logo "SamsungSaturn".
Gotcha. The auction was ended early. The seller also removed the photos except for a closeup of the DC power port, so we can't even tell what the actual item was anymore :/
#3
Couldn't this seller have stood at edge of his bed to take the photo or at least used the crop tool?

Uh oh. The Retronauts podcast goes back to 2007? Time to pull out the iDevice and say goodbye to productivity for a while.

Congrats, TK. With all that empty space, are you tempted to get even more gaming goodies?

Speaking of which, check out this CL listing for Cambridge, MA. Someone grab these now!

boston.craigslist.org/gbs/ele/3957472923.html

Two good condition, working Sony Trinitron cube monitors. Models PVM-2950Q and PVM-2530. One is 29" diagonal, the other is 25" diagonal. Free - you must come pick them up. These monitors were high end Sony monitors from back in the day. They are stackable and really rugged.

Contact me to arrange a time to pick up. In the Kendall Square area of Cambridge.

Not sure what it's like in other parts of the country, but in the Boston area there are a ton of flat-screen CRT TVs (and sometimes even PVMs) being given away for free on Craigslist. If I had the time, space and means, I'd save every Trinitron, DynaFlat and Tau tube I could.
#8
Quote from: MotherGunner on 07/25/2013, 01:24 AMI hear PVMs are the best CRTs to have.  Which model is best?
The best model is the one that is in good working order and is local to you. Because even 20" PVMs can be heavy as fuck... and we all know how heavy fuck can be.

It's not just FIFA 14. EA is not developing any games for the Wii U citing poor sales of the games they did release, as well as, the console itself.

I have an extra copy. Shoot me a PM.

Quote from: Tatsujin on 06/26/2013, 10:16 PMI bet they paid the previous owner only few bucks for that table.
Goodwill doesn't pay for items. Items are donated to Goodwill for free.

On a similar note, this piece unearths the worst charities in America in terms of the percentage of donations that ends up helping the needy. They're downright scams that play off the names and reputations of well-known and actually good organizations. The worst offender is the Kids Wish Network (a name meant to confuse donors with the Make-A-Wish Foundation) that spent a whopping $240,000 (1%) of the $18.6 million that it raised in 2012 on actually helping kids.

I spot IKEA :)  I have the same shelves but in white and the same glass CD cabinet.

Never mind this silly raffle business. The serious issue that needs to be addressed is how the hell does this woman get her underwear on?

My current commute is awesome as my office is only 1.5 miles from my house. I can leave my front door and be at my desk in 8 minutes. I also work a later shift (1-10pm) so there is even less of a chance of running into traffic.

Glad to hear MS came to their senses... er, succumbed to public pressure and reversed course. Also happy to hear the games will be region-free. Of course assuming Japanese devs will support the new console.

Nice find, Roy. The seller accepted my £9 offer as well. Current exchange rate brought the total to $19.20.

Quote from: guest on 06/11/2013, 06:06 PMThat is some pretty awesome theme music?  Is that what they play in the background while you wander through the store?
Yes, that music apparently plays on a constant loop in the stores. Proof = https://www.youtube.com/user/lukemorse1/search?query=hard+off

Muzz of L1 Games just posted a video review!

Quote from: Flare65 on 06/08/2013, 06:04 PMWhats the deal with this asshole seller anyway?  He is always listing his shit for $10,000.00 while posting shitty photos of one or two next to impossible to find games.
His last feedback was in 2008? Yeah, I'd trust him with $10K.

Lookin' good, Duo_R.

A question I've been wondering about... Does the speed of the SD card affect how fast the ROM loads into memory?
#22
My NES ED arrived yesterday. The design of the artwork and packaging are fantastic and the blue vinyl-dyed cart looks even better in person. Using a decorative sticker on the inside of the universal game case to cover up the tabs that were cut away was a great idea. I must say, Duo_R, you outdid yourself. Thanks for all your hard work!
#23
I'm going to mark May 25th on my calendar as HuCARD Envelope Day!

SO, this creative streak that you're on is really impressive.
#24
Well then I guess I prefer the blue 8)

Awesome job, Duo_R! I can't decide if I like the blue or dark gray better. Is the dark gray cart also from vinyl dye?

There's a quaint industrial beauty about the SuperGrafX + Super CD-ROM2 combo.

Not sure if the RAU-30 works with the TG16. If it does, you'll also need an Interface Unit (IFU) as the RAU-30 does not connect to a CD-ROM unit directly. The setup will look this:

I've never been to the store, but VGNY has had a booth at PAX East. Their booth was impressive due to the large number of sought-after games that were on display. But they know the going price of those games so you're not going to get any stupendous deals. On the flip side, I've seen the same "rare" games for each of the past 3 years at their booth which means they also don't sell at those prices. One cool thing is that they had a lot of import titles. At this year's event I picked up a couple of Japanese shmups for the 360 at (slightly) below eBay prices.

An EverDrive NG would be awesome as it'd lower the cost for me to enter the Neo Geo universe. But a ton of other gamers would have the same goal and likely push up prices for AES and CMVS hardware even further. :(
#30
SD2SNES! This wasn't specifically listed, so I voted for the Super EverDrive.

Duo_R,

The cases look great. Thank you for all the time and effort you're putting in this. I'm sure everyone appreciates it as much as I do.  :D

Received the items earlier this week. Everything was packed securely and works well.

Thanks, BT!

Can you put me down for the Sapphire boot? Been looking for that for a good while.

Spending money - PCE goodness sadly doesn't come free

Rarity - Awareness of all things NEC and Hudson is a good way to test how retro a gamer is

Putting games in poly bags - I don't actually do this, but it's the closest to what I'm currently enjoying, which is putting together a game room and organizing my games and consoles

I found it fun to answer the poll seriously, or at least, semi-seriously.

What type of paper do you use for the cover art?

That's pretty tight! Are they "glued" to the cases? do you display them at all?
No, the magnets are not glued to the metal tins. They just come packaged in them.

They will be displayed once I install the SPONTAN board (a piece of metal that can be hung on a wall like a picture frame) in my game room :D

Oops. Double post.

My magnets arrived and they are beautiful. The quality is very high. The magnets are strong and attached securely to the artwork. Thanks, EPG!

Here's a photo.

That blue looks great and very unique. Please switch my order from red to a blue cart :)

Can you point me to the type of dye you used?

Neat. It's cool to see and learn about what could have been. I just wish it was less fugly.

Yep, I'm in. And if you can solder in the CIC chip and provide a shell, that'd be great.

I contributed to the Kickstarter for the limited edition of Redux back in May 2012. Can't believe that was almost a year ago. Damn, time flies.
