interesting, I would like to take a look at this system :)

please add me in if still available
#2
interesting that was how the marty was.  I seen a few for $360, 500, and then $1.02 I was like umm mine.
#3
I've never played anything FM Towns but always was interested in it to see the port of Splatterhouse. So that will be the first game I plan to play on it. I was reading a genesis controller can be modded for the fm towns use so I may do that first.
#4
oh didn't know that, i thought it needed them. That will make it easier to find i think
#5
Thanks jtucci31! I think I just got lucky with the find. it was only at $1.02 with like 45mins left on the auction. No way I was going to allow someone to get a marty for that
#6
Yeah I seen that only issue is the run/select buttons. Some of the ones I seen didn't have them and the fm towns uses doubled up button combos as run/select (up+down=Select, Left+Right=Run). Also seen a simple cable could be make to use genesis controllers so I may do that for the time being.

bought this on christmas eve and it just got here yesterday.

FM Towns Marty, listed as broken. Got it for $122.50+$67 shipping
IMG

Opened it up and found the door sensor broken.
IMG

Taped the sensor down and it read a audio cd, later tested free software collection vol2, splatterhouse, and muscle bomber all loaded fine.
IMG

tested a floppy diskette and it sounded really loud, removed the drive and found broken belt. WIll be replacing that next.

Now to find a controller

Quote from: Lost Monkey on 11/20/2015, 02:00 PMPicked up a Samsung N501 DVD player yesterday for $12... Otherwise known as the Nuon.  Did not expect it to work,  but it does.  May just use it as a single disc CD player hooked up to a TV for the cool VLM2.  Attempted to play a little Tempest 3000 with the remote and failed miserably since you can't move and shoot and the same time..

Had one when they were still being produced and got rid of it...

Odd thing is - I didn't think these were sold in Canada.. I bought my first one on a trip to Las Vegas in 2001.
very nice pickup! I have been after a nuon player for a while but never find them locally. The did release 4 dvd movies that are nuon compatible with extra features. (Bedazzled, The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai, Dr. Dolittle 2, and Planet of the Apes (mark walberg version). I was also reading about a year ago or so that someone found a way to mod the controller for better response from it.

Super Street Fighter II Turbo was a great port on the 3do, was the first time I ever got to play as or against akuma. But with the stock controller the combos can be hard to do. They had a 6 button controller for it but I never had it back in the day. All the controllers I have are the standard panasonic ones, and a logitech controller that looks like a batarang but never works. It came with the 3do dev kit I bought years ago.

Sorcerer's Apprentice so far is the only game on the system I have completed, but expect to spend a few hours getting annoyed by all the memory match type puzzles.

3DO is one of my all time favorite systems, yes has a fair share of crap titles but also has some gems like twistid the game show, psychic detective, brain dead 13, captain quazar, etc

depends on your tastes in games. I own 2 different models of the cdi players, and like 11 games. I burned a few games to try out and see if I wanted to invest any more money into the systems and I can say if you do not have the digital video addon card in the system you will not be able to play what seems like 80% of the library. All the zelda based games are horrible to play (bought 2 of them). The best game on the system so far for me is hotel mario and even that is a test of your patience.

Quote from: Medic_wheat on 11/19/2015, 07:53 PMI saw this game at the local retro game store.

Don't have a CDi but this one game interest me as a point and click game.
I own that game without the lightgun or mouse it is almost impossible to play. The response time expected on the scenes are way tougher then like dragon's lair required

Quote from: NightWolve on 11/08/2015, 01:35 AMHa, I just bought that District B13 at the dollar store today! Of course I've seen it already, twice, but at $1 to own it on a nice new DVD, I said what the hell. It has a 'Making Of' special, outtakes and an extend fight scene, so why not.
Yup same place I got it from

I posted about this on a couple facebook groups today, Hope I didn't out bid anyone in here. I managed to score a PC Engine Duo-R tonight on ebay for $99 plus $30 shipping :)

The system has the card door cover, the system wont read cd games but that can be easy to fix. Will need to get power cable and controller but I'm going to be happy once I get this region modded and RGB av modded on it.

Includes a cd based game that I am not sure which one that is yet. I can read super on the label but that is all.

Very cool item to raffle off, This works on the turbografx16 and not the pc engine right? I have one for the pce but have never got my system modded to use it.

can I be entered into the raffle please.
#33
I thought these ones was good, but maybe because  I'm fat  :D

IMG

#34
I don't have 200 posts but if you decide to sell some later let me know :)
#35
I got my turbografx cdrom system today and I knew before hand it was broken. I was able to get some functions working on the system. It wont fully spin the disc, starts then stops
#36
yeah I know that card is limited, but one card and one cd game is enough to start out with.
#38
count me in please, I'm just getting my cd system and wont have a system card for now.
#39
I plan on getting the system modded, the cd system I'm getting needs repair. so I may send the system and cd addon and have them both done at same time.
#40
I'm looking for the following items.

System Card 3.0 (American)
2 Empty rear case trays.

I'm getting a non-working cd addon with connector base. Gonna be sending it to someone on here for repair. Want to have a system card read for when the system comes back working  :D

Very awesome news here, i just found this thread and would love to look at the source code for the old games! love that stuff.

Also to westwood68 if you need it I have a USB floppy drive I would be willing to load ya to read the disks if your having problems. Just an offer because your trying to help out the fans by giving the source code out it would be the least i could do.

Quote from: guest on 03/15/2013, 09:53 AMkept the nicest looking one for myself... Only to find that one of the controller ports is bad. So for now, my main SNES unit is terribly yellowed/browned and has large cracks across the top.
well then why not swap the cases to the working one :) then you have a nice working and pretty one
#48
well not to hijack his thread but I have a sealed Pikachu and Raichu mini figures pack. That I would trade for something :)
