Off-Topic / East Coast Gaming Expo
08/29/2006, 11:51 AM
I got back from the expo on Sunday so I thought I would post impressions of it. It was fairly small to tell the truth but it was packed full with games from just about every system you could want, along with the systems. I saw two TG-16s one was still in the box. I saw one American Duo and a Duo R (which was still in the box).

Most of the games were fairly cheap. I scored a boxed US copy of Cadash for 20 bucks which really made my week, also got a copy of Coryoon but I had to cough up for that one. All in all I got about 10 PCE/TG-16 games. Which included Fatal Fury 2, Kabuki Itouryodan (which is completely awsome), Super Raiden, Galaga 88, a japanese copy of Cotton (so I can put up my US copy), Final Soldier, Shubinbin Man 3, and Fiend Hunter. I bought a few other things but my Duo-Rx got most of the attention.

On a side note I was wondering if its just my copy of Coryoon, but does anyone else's sorta have a split second of lines appearing, and then just disappearing when loading a screen. It fixes itself immeidately and its always in the same spots. The first really noticeable spot is when it loads up the option select screen. I've checked the contacts and they are spotless, that and the fact that its always in the same place makes me think its the game, but I'm hoping someone could verify my suspicion.

I agree with Steve as there was just something about a WD release that felt like at least some care and love was put into the game. Sometimes I think most of the WD haters out there really just wanted the attention their opinions granted them. For example I know people complain about how Silhouette Mirage's difficulty was upped by making things more expensive, but I enjoyed the increased challenge. It made an easy game into something fairly challenging.

To be honest I think Sony just really screwed them over. When one looks at all the stuff WD brought over and wanted to bring over you can tell they had good taste in video games. Here and there you find a game that wasn't great, but overall those people knew what good games looked, sounded, and played like. So the only real explanation I can think of is that Sony's constant refusal drove them into the ground.

As far as trying to pick up the pieces and move on; I wish him luck. I've gotten a lot of enjoyment out of the Working Designs releases that I own so its the least I can do.

Final Fantasy IV Hard type was and still is a favorite of mine. While the verison we got of it was a fine game we missed out on some cool content. Luckily or perhaps unluckily we have gotten a lot of remakes of it that have given it back its flair at the cost of making it seem like a cheap cash in. While I'm thinking about FF I would say I enjoy VI but I just could not get into V as much, which is really weird since I really love III on the famicom.

Chrono Trigger I enjoyed though I've never owned it. Everytime I've had the urge to play it I just borrow it from my cousin since he has gotten himself caught up in PC gmaing and doesn't play his console stuff.

Seiken Densetsu 3 is just plain badass there isn't really another other way to describe it. I've beat the thing with just about every party combination. Its a shame this game didn't get released outside of Japan as its easily their best game on the SFC.

While most people seem to like Bahamut Lagoon I just couldn't get into it. Maybe I didn't give it enough of a chance to shine, or perhaps its because I had to play it emulated and it tainted the experience, but I haven't touched it since I lost interest in it.

The East Coast Gaming Expo is coming up in about a month (26th-27th) and I was just wondering how many east coasters on this board are going to be attending. They have an info page up at www.ecgxpo.com with some events and other things listed if your curious as to what is going down there. A lot of you are probably going to Otakon, but if any of you happen to be going to this as well give a shout as it would be cool to meet any of you guys.

QuoteOh man, that's in west PA. I live just 13 miles from NYC in northern NJ, so it would be .... 120 miles for me.

That's not to say I won't go. But do folks actually live out in West PA?

I'm driving cross-country in a few days and I'll be drive through PA (I am on Rt. 80, IIRC). It always seemed very rural around there.

Heh, exist might be a better term to use   . Yeah I happen to live about an hour north of Pittsburgh and the boonies doesn't even begin to describe it. Reading is probably about 2 or so hours from where I'm currently living. Anyway I'm going to start a thread over in the General Chat area and see who might be going.

Its the last Saturday and Sunday of August, which would be the 26th and 27th. Actually I think there was talk of getting together and going to an arcade on Friday, but I don't want to pay for an extra day at the hotel. They have a web page up at www.ecgxpo.com . I'm looking forward to the Atari Combat competition even if I haven't played it in years. Maybe I should start a thread about it in General Chat and see how many east coasters are going. It would be cool to meet up with some of you guys.

I really can't bring myself to really play the PCE verison of Ninja Gaiden. I think its mostly the music. The NES tunes are awsome and the PCE should have just been better, but I was greatly disappointed in that department. That said I still like it as a PCE game, but like everyone said the NES verisons are just better.

Speaking of 16-bit, he was at Tekkoshocon in Pittsburgh (actually the expo center in Monroeville) this year too. I bought SF2:CE off him in just about brand new condition along with Tales of Phantasia (PSX), an avenue 6 pad, Fire Emblem 3, Hyper Iria, SRW Final F. Suffice to say I did little else at the con but buy games. Then we talked for like 2 hours on gaming stuff. He definately is a fellow gamer. He said he was going to be at the East Coast Gaming Expo in Reading, PA this year. Three of my friends and I are definately going. It should be a blast.

After not playing it for a while I decided to watch some vids of Oath in Felghana. Some of these are sick like the Ice dragon battle. If I ever want to do that I'll have to stop playing it on my keyboard. The quality of the videos kinda suck though, oh well.

This one is the Ice Dragon battle (Gildias):
Final battle:
They are both by the same person so the some of the annoying quirks, like the really loud sound effects, are in both. Not exactly sure why its like that. Anyway its Ys, can't go wrong with that.

As far as what system to get I think your making a fair choice the Duo will probably provide more enjoyment than an Express.

On the subject of ebay when you place a bid that is the highest amount ebay will place on your behalf. So if someone has a bid of lets say 20 dollars and you input 30 ebay will only bid up to the amount that you clear the old bet. It will however continue to bet for you until someone clears your previous max. I know some people may not agree with this but I found the best way to win an auction, as long as you have a higher speed connection (DSL or fast cable), is to wait till like the last 30 seconds or so and place your max bid; the highest your willing to pay for it. Hopefully it clears the other person's max bid and it should leave them little time to counter bid. If you don't exceed it or you lose its no biggie since the system was getting out of your price range anyway. It really is kinda sleazy but sometimes you just have to resort to it when you really want something.
#10
Don't know if your still looking for it or if you would really want to try ebay but there is currently one auction up.

http://cgi.ebay.com/RARE-DOUBLE-DRAGON-II-pc-engine-SCD-JP_W0QQitemZ300002333237QQihZ020QQcategoryZ4315QQssPageNameZWD1VQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Its buy it now and it is not cheap. It does look like its in nice shape though.

I just went and looked over the site for a bit and it is pretty cool; I have bookmarked it. I'm looking forward to the updates.

Oh I'm curious whether the Cutey Honey FX game is based off the original series or Flash. The art style reminds me of Flash more, but I thought I would ask since I'm a Go Nagai fan and tidbits like these intrigue me.
#12
I don't remmeber the arcade being a whole lot faster, though it was noticable. The power ups on the other hand seemed to rush off screen and weren't nearly as accomadating as they are in the PCE verison. That and the whole game was streamed together I believe. That said though it was about the same difficulty depending, of course, on how many quarters you had. Dragon Spirit, TMNT 2, Ninja Gaiden, Double Dragon had probably consumed a small fortune in quarters from me before the arcade near my house went under. Its a shame really even though thats probably what allowed me to save up for a SNES.

On the Famicom verison I remember it being different and that it was much easier (as I had actually beat it once or twice). Thats about it as I never really got into playing it a whole lot and its been ages since I've touched it. The famicom was all about Captain Skyhawk and strangely enough Sky Shark for me. Sky Shark though was brutal and every bit as mean (i.e. cheap) as the PCE Dragon Spirit.
#13
I just got done looking down through that page. It was pretty cool; I love looking at stuff like that. Seeing and hearing how something works is always interesting to me. It also gives me some confidence should I ever need to preform some emergency surgery on my Duo or my TB cards. Hopefully info like this will revive some systems.
#14
I think your talking about Torneko: The Last Hope which is an alright game. Its not however like your typical DQ game its like Azure Dreams. If you like those kind of games and like DQ then it might be worth a look but its pretty average. Its a shame too since I absolutely love that chapter in DQ 4.

I was never in to playing handheld games when they came out on GBC so I never bothered getting them for it. I was content with my NES carts. I must admit that all this talk about them has sparked some interest though. I might have to track them down.

The Dragon Quest Games are personal favorites of mine. While the first one can drag on when you need to level it was still my favorite RPG on the NES until the 3rd one came out.

The 2nd one is probably the one I like the least. Its not a bad game its just that it is even worse to try and figure out where to go since the world is bigger and sometimes you don't get cules. Another complaint is that the other 2 characters are pretty useless for about half of the game as they can't really take a hit or even deal one. After a while they come into there own but it really bugs me that they have to be babysit for a while. Other than that everything is an improvement over the first though I still like the first better.

I'll have to agree with Guts in regards to the 3rd entry as it is my favorite one on the Famicom. It really does a one up on the first two. I can't think of anything that is better in the first two than it is here. Being able to raise your own characters and then class change them can make some super powerful characters that you really start to need at the end as it gets kinda rough. In my opinion its in the top five RPGs for the system.

The fourth one has an awsome story for its time, heck I still like it. As other people mentioned the auto battle kinda gets on your nerves but the AI isn't too bad they usually stick to stuff that works fairly well and the sage's stone really helps with healing so you don't have to depend on Cristo or deplete your own MP if you need a heal toward the end.

Overall the games really only improve as they go on. While the most people here seem to favor the 3rd one the 4th is really probably better in most areas. It just has some flaws that keep it from being the best. Although you didn't ask about it I would really sugest that you try out Dragon Quest 5. It really is a top notch game.

Not to long ago my RX lost all of its saves, but luckily I had them all backed up on my TB. I don't know if it was just some sorta freak incident or if the capacitor is starting to fade, it does make me curious. I wonder how hard would it be to pop open the Duo and replace it. I wouldn't think it would be much more than a soldering job after you figured out which one was bad and what would be a suitable replacement. Of course I could be wrong and would appreciate a little insight into how easy it would be to fix. If someone took the time to take a few pictures and point out what to change and specs of the parts needed it would be a boon.

On another note the TB is an awsome accessory. Knowing that you have a back up or two is certainly reassuring. I wouldn't mind opening a dead one if I come across it. Maybe after fiddling with it I can find a way to separate the card without causing irreversible damage to it. I wouldn't be surprised if it used a CR2032 battery seeing as how every system I've had to open up and replace a battery too uses them. The Saturn does, the Dreamcast memory cards do, I believe the Sega CD does as well as SNES carts. I haven't opened an NES cart but they probably use them as well. It would be nice if they did since the battery can be gotten at virtually any place that deals in electronics.

The fourth stage in Valis 4 used to piss me off so bad that I would scream utter nonsense at it, I was to pissed off to think of what to say. I mean getting up almost the whole way and then getting knocked 3/4 of the way back down got old real fast. Eventually I got the path down and how and when to do everything so its not a problem, but I remember the hell of when I first got there. Now I curse at the ice levels because I hate using the third character.

Cotton makes me want to use the disc as a frisbie sometimes. Even when you know how to handle certain parts something can always go wrong and then your screwed. If you die more than once in the later levels your boned as you can't deal with everything fast enough. I know it shouldn't be this hard but seriously not even Nexzr gives me this much grief.

Dragon Spirit hates me. I'll get so far without getting hit like up to stage 6 and then I get crushed. I can make it to stage 7 now but seriously how is anyone supposed to beat this game. Sometimes I've had thoughts of snapping the card in half, but I've found that after trying to beat constantly I've come to actually love the game. So I guess its a one sided relationship. It hates me and kicks my ass yet I can't stop playing it.

The PSP isn't really that bad of a system for a handheld. It does have its problems like the crappy digital pad. The analog stick isn't great either. If sony wasn't so cheap I would say that they could fix all the tech problems with the PSP. It is starting to get some good titles though. However, I would have to agree that I would rather see them on a real console. It is just more enjoyable to play them that way.

On the subject of Oath in Felghana, there is a translation going on for the PC verison. So if a PS2 verison never comes it isn't a total loss. Xanadu Next and LoH 6 deserve a tranlation or console release though.

I really didn't see anyone else talking about it so I thought I would drop a heads up. It seems that Namco Bandai or whatever they call themselves now intend to release Witch Witch, the first game in the Gagharv Trilogy, stateside. Whether it will have another shoddy translation or not is another story but its coming this summer according to this:

http://etoychest.org/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=4221&Itemid=29

This is a pretty good indication that we will actually see the third game.... or rather it gives me hope that we will.

The second Falcom game that is coming (to the Japanese market this June) is Gurumin. Now this baby is being handled by Falcom themselves, they aren't handing it out to a third party this time. I think its the first time they have made/ported anything to another system since Ys 5 on the Super Famicom. With Falcom themselves doing the work it should be a quality port. Some people didn't really like it, but I enjoyed it a fair bit. Just thought I would let people know.

Oh here is the link for this:

http://www.insertcredit.com/archives/001010.html

Anyway I sure Falcom fans like me will enjoy the news though some of them probably already own the PC originals, which at least in the case of Witch Witch are better. Still the recognition of the games on the PSP could really help get us more Falcom stuff.

Battle for Olympus is still a pretty awsome game. I still sit down for a few hours every couple a months and beat it. Since the save system is such a pain I usually just play it straight through when I have about 3 extra hours on my hands. Some areas still suck though no matter how good I get at the game. Pythia, for example, blows all that jumping from pillar to pillar hoping not to get hit in midair because if you do its almost certain death, and then you have to go back and collect more olives for your best sword. Crete used to suck pretty hard for me too, but its more about memorizing the path than skill. Tarturus is a pretty brutal level and the last boss is a little hard at first, but once you know how to beat him he is fairly easy.

As a side note this game is probably my 5th favorite on the NES behind Guardian Legend, Ninja Gaiden 3, Crystalis, and Blaster Master in that order.
#22
That one took me a little while to figure out. Use the blue magic on those flying enemies as they try to cross (or any enemy in the middle for that matter) and it will freeze them. Then you jump on them and use them to get to the next pillar. It gets old real fast as they like to throw out extra enemies later on to snipe you, but its a Valis game so you can't expect it to be easy.
#23
Its already been said but you really don't miss much with the Japanese verison save some English text. The JP verison is easier to find and a lot cheaper. Around the  40-50 dollar range for a JP copy. I paid around 120 for my U.S. copy a while back but I only did it to collect it. If you want to collect it then good luck, but if you wanted to just play it, track down a JP copy. If your just curious then don't bother it is really nothing that special (though the music isn't bad). There are definately better shooters out there that you can spend your money on. Alot of them are cheaper too.
#24
Not really sure if they let other people post reviews but www.mahq.net is probably your best mecha site on the web.... well at least in my experience. It has the traditional Gundam and Macross stuff along with Aura Battler Dunbine, Votoms, heck they even have stuff up about Tekkaman Blade. Its fairly active too, both the site and last time I checked the board. Check it out, at the very least you can grab all the images your HDD can hold off the site.
#25
You forgot Brandish, but most people do. Its one of my personal favorites, but some people hate it with a passion.
#26
I guess I should clarify that when I said I got I had just paid for it. I haven't actually got it in my hands yet though I'm sure it will be cool. The only other Cotton games I actually own is 2 and Boomerang on the Saturn. I don't have Panorama or Rainbow Cotton. Even if its not as cool as Boomerang or 2, which it seems most agree upon, its still going to be cool. My only regret is that I had been bitten by the collectors bug beforehand and had to get the English verison for some reason even though the Japanese one isn't different. It reasons like these that I'm always broke.
#27
Just wanted to say that I did indeed end up getting both. For a while there I didn't think I was going to get Cotton but the other guy who was interested in it hadn't paid or sent any word so I got a second crack at it.

On another note Terraforming is indeed very awsome. Besides Lords and Gate of Thunder it might be my favorite shooter on the system thus far. Sapphire is close but I like Terraforming's music better.
#28
"Dreams are real unless you dream they're not!".

Actually that line is from the opening of the Playstation verison of Lunar. I like that opening, but I might like the Sega CD one better as far as music goes. Both verisons are both really cool though.

Edit: Anyone who likes the Lunar series should stop by this place; if for nothing but the pictures.

<http://www.lunar-net.com/>
#29
Well I think I'm going to get Terraforming and if he still has Cotton after I get paid then I'll pick it up too. Maybe I should ask him to hold it because I'm sure I would buy if its available. I can't have enough shmup goodness.
#30
I bought a Duo Tap off this seller on e-bay that I've dealt with before and he asked me if I wanted any of his old games still (he had provided me with a list last time I purchased something from him). I was looking through his list and asked him about a few games and it appears he still has US copy of Cotton and a copy of Terraforming. Since they are both fairly expensive I was planning on only getting one of the two. This is where my problem lies. I'm a hopelessly indecisive person and I was just wondering if I could get a few recommendations. I know I'll like either one I'm just looking for a little push in either direction so I don't take all week deciding.

That is a sweet site there man. I have a soft spot for video game commercials. Its been a while since I've seen that one for Link to the Past, its a classic. I'll probably spend all of tonight watching them. The sad thing is I don't see the Legend of Dragoon commercial on there. I remember seeing it like once (maybe twice) on TV. It was hilarious, and I was kinda surprised that it just wasn't clips from the game. I wonder if anyone else ever saw it..... I'm beginning to think I imagined it.

General Gaming / Sega Saturn
08/29/2005, 06:00 PM
My saturn is near and dear too me, but I haven't played it very often due to having some bad cables. I tried my local pawn shop but they wouldn't sell me the cables without buying a system so I guess I'll be checking ebay. Anyway it really is a great import system. I would have to say Dragon Force 2 is my favorite game for the system. It improved so much on the first one while keeping its most endearing features. I do need to save up some money for a copy of D&D, it owns.

I have a treat for all the Saturn fans. A while back I stumbled upon a collection of the Segata Sanshiro commercials. These things are super cheesy but in a very good way. Anyway here is a link:

Enjoy them they are great stuff.

Off-Topic / Advertising in video games
08/19/2005, 10:01 PM
For the most part this stuff really annoys me. I want to sit back and play the game without having to see the newest Pepsi ad. I only really condone it when a game company tastefully puts in reference to other games they've released. The best to examples I can think of are Working Designs games and Konami's Blades of Steel. I mean who hasn't walked up to some object in a Working designs game to get some humorous message related to some previously released game. Anyone who has played Blades of Steel remembers the super cheezy Gradius mini game, which also advertises for Contra and Jackal, inbetween the 2nd and 3rd period.

This stuff about recording the gamer id, the play time, and even the angle you viewed the ad at is ridiculous. It really has no class and doesn't belong in a video game.
#34
The CD is by far the easiest thing to look at by itself and determine whether its a fake or not. Ask him to take a picture of the CD itself with his copy. He says he bought them both when it first came out so if his copy is the bootleg we've all come to know he is lying. I believe he bought them at the same time, just that it happened to be this July  . I would like to see his reply to requesting a picture of the front of his CD. I'm sure it would be amusing to say the least.

General Gaming / The State of Shmups

QuoteIf you wanna check out an older shmup that's really impressive, find a rom of a Famicom game called Recca

I second this as a must try. Recca is an amazing shmup by any system's standards. Its not quite the bullet fest Ikaruga is but it is very intense. I've only gotten to Level 2 so I'm not sure how long it is, but regardless it is a blast. I think the most amazing thing about it though is the fact that there is little to no slowdown. This isn't your normal NES/Famicom shooter. This thing throws at least a few DOZEN things your way at once. I couldn't imagine what playing this thing back in the day would have felt like. I think I might have peed myself as a kid if I saw that many projectiles flying at my ship.
#36
It really depends on what you want to get it for. If your collecting I would look for a real copy. If your looking to just play it then you might want to pick it up. I can vouch for it working a Duo R/RX with an Arcade Card Duo, and I'm pretty sure other systems setups will play it too.

It is an amazing reproduction despite it being obviously that. On the other hand you are paying for pirated merchandise which doesn't sit well with most people for obvious reasons. Anyway its a great game, and if you don't have a problem about shelling out money for a pirated copy then go ahead and get it. It doesn't rape your system like regular CD-Rs are rumored to do, so if your worried about that don't be.

Fudoh was selling them for around the price the auction you listed does. It is likely they got it from him so these people don't seem to be trying to gouge you.

On a side note looky what I found in asian_dvd_classics' history.

http://feedback.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewFeedback&userid=asian_dvd_classics&items=25&page=2&frompage=-1&iid=-1&de=off

Our dear friend decker77 seems to have bought two items from them at about the same time. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out what they were.
#37
More than a little, that person should be put in prison for robbery. TZD still has them up for sale on their site for 19.99 and all their stuff is new.
#38
That town would be Meribia. In the second game its by Taben's Peak. I didn't realize that line was in there. I'm going to have to play Lunar 2 up to that point again. Is it just in the PSX verison or is it in the Sega CD one as well?
#39
The AC Pro has the System 3 BIOS built in so it will work in any Japanese system. The Duo card does not have this since it is built into the system. Therefore the Duo card only works in a Japanese Duo or in an American Duo if they are region modded or you have a converter. Basically if you have anything but a Duo you need the AC Pro; if you have a Duo save yourself some money and get the AC duo.

I'm not sure why converters are so expensive. I'm sure someone else can shed some light on that though.

Anyway if you want to use and Arcade Card of any type your better off just having your system region modded. Its more reliable than a converter, and in my opinion it looks better. Best of all its about half the price.
#40
Yeah I'm playing it in Japanese. So far no one I've heard has stated they are going to be fan translating it. Even if you have absolutely no knowledge of Japanese it doesn't hinder the game too much in terms of gameplay. There are already a couple FAQs out there and they get the job done.

As far as a stateside release I've heard that it might be ported to the PSP if Ark of Napishtim sells fairly well on it. Of course that is just people talking; it isn't official. I would rather see it ported to a console, but I'll take what I can get.

I should really make some screenshots, and, or movies to show off the game.
#41
I was playing Sapphire, Dragon Slayer, Cosmic Fantasy 2, Valis 3 and Valkyrie Profile but I got Ys: Oath in Felghana like a week ago and I haven't even touched another game since. Really the job Falcom did on remaking 3 is just amazing. Its music is beyond awsome, its gameplay is an enhanced verison of 6, and they tweeked the story abit to fit in with the rest of the games. The game difficulty is also back with a vengence. Its about 10 times harder than the SNES verison on normal with a Hard, Nightmare, and recently released (from the lasest patch) Inferno mode. Hard is rough enough but Nightmare and Inferno will likely make me brake my moniter in frustration. Then again I don't have a controller for my PC so I'm using a keyboard.

I need to beat Ys on Nightmare so I can go back to playing those other games. That and I need to finish Dragon Force 2. I've still got a month before college starts up though so I should have the time.

Sorry about the off topic Ys rambling, but I just couldn't help myself.
#42
I have quite a few games I'm waiting for but the ones off the top of my head are as follows:

Dragon Quest 8
Grandia 3 (though it has a way to go before a US release)
Ys 6 (on the PSP)
Legend on Heroes 4 (Again on the PSP. Actually I would ask those that have one to get this game as I want them to port 3 and 5.)
Tales of Legendia
Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance
The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess
I'm going to be picking up Zwei. If I like Zwei then Gurumin.

Anyway those are the ones that are on the top on my list.
#43
QuoteOn certain levels of Lords of Thunder, you need to play air guitar in order to get the sound to work.

 Its nice to know I'm not the only one who does that. If there is a person who can resist playing the old air guitar during the ending I haven't met them. Of course I wouldn't recommend it during a level.

Seriously though, it could be your cables. My Saturn does this stuff all the time and I know its the AV cables. Try wiggling them just a bit after the sound goes out. If it pops back in at full strength then I would say you might have found your problem.

I actually dropped the money on the set after getting a whole hour's worth of the music. I had listened to some demo tracks that were listed on other boards, but I was stunned into speechlessness last night. It really is game music bliss.

On a side note, while they are on a roll Dawn of Ys needs some remake love. Hopefully Falcom feels the same way.

IT WAS FANTASTIC!   I already wanted this, but now I need it. It does indeed deserve another broadcast. Kudos to you Aaron for the broadcast. Now all I need is a good place to order it from since Falcom's website design leaves much to be desired for those who can't read Japanese.

To those who missed out the first time: You better catch it second time around; it is definately worth the hour.

I got all of them yesterday and I must say it was intense. I do indeed enjoy Magicoal, and Sapphire almost made me cry (with pure gaming goodness). I mean this is what games were supposed to be like. Good music, better gameplay, and that little something that makes you always come back for more. Fudoh has my thanks for not charging an arm an a leg for his copies like he could have. I probably would have not picked it up otherwise at least not for a few more years.

Anyway thanks again Fudoh. I'm having a blast with Sapphire. It might not be quite worth the $500 price tag of an original, but its definately worth what I paid for it. :D

I've got to pick my copy up at the post office tomorrow. I've been itching to play this for quite some time. I just hope it doesn't let me down; doubt it will though. I've got to brush up my shooter skills for the occassion. I've been playing too many RPGs lately.

On a rather long side note two other games came in as well. One I've played before, but the other I haven't. Anyone have info on the second one, its called Magicoal. I read the discription up for it and I got suckered into buying it. The seller described it as:

"A very cool overhead action/RPG with a heavy puzzle element, much in the spirit of Alundra for the Playstation. Both characters have their own unique abilities neccessary to proceed through the levels. One or two can play, and the computer will control the inactive character in one-player mode."

Right there it scored about 4 points with me in that:
1. Its an Action RPG
2. It has a heavy puzzle element.
3. Like Alundra  :)
4. Two can play.

Anyway if anyone has played it let me hear an opinion. If it ends up sucking, oh well. It won't be too bad since I didn't spend much on it.

Now I can't wait to get mine. My Arcade card Duo needs to see some use, and this should fit the bill nicely. I assume they work fine in a Duo since I haven't heard otherwise. Once I get it I'm dropping everything that day to play it, even if I have to call off work to do so.

I've listened to some demo tracks from VII and I must say it is promising. I'm definately going to be listening in. I was going to get the LE but sadly I'm short on cash so hopefully I'll be able to pick it up later.

I agree VI definately felt a little weak in the sound department. Mighty Obstacle was a cool track, but most didn't catch me as much as the older tunes did. Overall I didn't think it was a bad effort it just wasn't as good as previous entries. I'm sure Oath in Felghana will make up for it admirably though.

I know what you mean, but I currently don't have a copy and wouldn't mind getting one a little less than perfect as long as it works. If it wasn't so late in the auction I would suggest asking, but you might not get a response in time. As it is I'm sure another "mint" copy will pop up in a few months. If you want I'll keep an eye out for one. I go to flea markets all the time where I live and find some pretty cool stuff. If I see one that looks to be mint I could pick it up for you. Heck I found a pristine copy of Popful Mail for the Sega CD for 10 bucks. The lady didn't know what it was apparently. So it isn't exactly impossible to find something like that at a flea market, just not likely.
