2/13/2025: Localization News - Cosmic Fantasy 3-4!

Rather earth-shattering news in the PC Engine / TurboGrafx-16 community: Cosmic Fantasy 3 & 4 has been officially localized to English by Edia 30 years later for the Switch! Hard to believe! I know their script quality is poor given the 1&2 port but still good to see.

Quote from: InfraMan on 08/21/2014, 12:19 PMI hate the stock SMS controller too. I just use a Genny 6-button pad for my SMS, since it's a great controller that's cheap and easy to find.

Note that there's a small handful of SMS games that will not work with a Genny controller. You can easily fix this by opening up the pad and cutting the start button wire to make it 100% compatible.
For some reason I don't like using the Genesis pads with the SMS, and the ability to mod the pause button onto the controller intrigued me a lot.  I use them in a pinch, but I'm not a huge fan of the D-Pad on it either, I think they are kinda mushy, but obviously not as bad as the SMS.
This is the video that I had watched, it might be clearer to someone that knows about that stuff, but I don't.

General Gaming / Modding a SMS controller
08/21/2014, 11:39 AM
I love the Master System, but every time I play it, I can't help but notice how inferior the controller is to the TG or NES.  I was wondering if anyone had any clues on how to mod a NES controller to work with a SMS?  I found one video on youtube regarding it, but I couldn't really make out what he was trying to show.  He also had another video showing how to mod the pause button onto the controller itself, which would be amazing to have since the SMS had the terrible idea of putting that button on the console.

Just kind hoping some modding wizards have better insight into this than I

I think the prices are plenty sustainable, unfortunately.  I have very little affinity for the N64, outside of a few games.  However, the prices on a system like the SNES ($30-40 for Super Metroid and rising, and games of that ilk that sold millions of copies and are extremely common) show me that they are, unfortunately, gonna keep going up as kids that grew up with the system reach an age where they are able to have a stable income and buy stuff that they are "nostalgic" for, whether they stay in the collecting game for the long haul and expand their reach beyond N64, or sell out in 3 months once they get bored with it.

It is the same deal with threads that pop up on forums everywhere saying "When will the *insert console here* prices bust, just like the Atari did?", and I am getting to the point where I think that they won't ever just plummet, but may just stall out and maintain their current pricing.  This is currently seen in NES collecting, where most of the rare games, outside of Stadium Events and the NWC, have started to maintain a consistent price, for the most part.  Examples include Flintstones hanging around $600-650, Little Samson seemingly capping out around $550-600, Bonk's stalling around $250-300.  It seems like that these are now the commonly accepted prices for these high-end items unfortunately.

However, it does make picking around Flea Markets all the more scintillating when you do hit the rarez.

Seems like sound business advice. Investors everywhere bragging, "My portfolio includes Banjo, Glover, and Conker".
Pssshhh, no Sculptor's Cut.  Who is investing in that shit.

While I mostly agree with what you have said, it is FAR from the highest price sale.  I've seen auctions, not BINs, end at 600+.

Haha, it is his 30th, so his wife wanted us to all get together and figure something out he really wanted, and I know he digs mine a lot, just never could drop the dime on one, so we decided to get it for him.

I expect the favor returned when my time comes

I'd like to sign up.  Just opened a sealed copy of Tecmo Super Bowl the other day to play it, so why not add another.

Me and a few buddies are getting a friend a modded PCE Duo-R from Keith Courage for his birthday, and I was wanting to get him a "starter kit" of games to go with it.  He already has a couple games (Keith Courage and Bonk's Adventure, as well as some sports titles), but I was wanting to get him a few more "essentials", as it were.

I was wanting to get him some/all of the following (preferably CIC):

Bonk's Revenge
Blazing Lazers
Ninja Spirit
Legendary Axe
Ys I & II
Ys III
Alien/Devil's Crush

If anyone has 3 or 4 of these they are willing to sell (or possibly trade if interested in N64 cart only jazz I recently got a hold of, or Sega 32x stuff I also recently got a hold of ), please let me know,

I just found a copy of Xenoblade Chronicles on the cheap at a garage sale, so I booted up the old Wii.  For all the commotion that game caught about being really good, I am super meh about it thus far.  Probably will just use it as trade bait or something here in the future.

I'm playing Devil's Crush.  Still one of the best pinball games ever.

Just saw this, and I have a spare case and manual for KC.  I could give it to ya.

Quote from: willis on 07/30/2014, 02:10 AMHello all!

I was getting ready to sell my TG-16 collection (can't stand the thought, but I need to) and I was looking up some prices for some of the games I have. I've been extremely inactive in the world of TG-16 so I wanted to see what the general thought is. I have a US version (complete/excellent condition) of Cotton and was taken back by some of the prices I've seen it go for. Is it really worth $300 - $500??? That seems insane to me.
Is there a good place to gauge prices for the rest of my games?

Thanks for any info on this
Can I ask why you are selling?  I sold my stuff off about a year and a half back to pay for my wedding, and am trying to get back in, so I am just curious.

Other than that, just do the auction thing recommended by vestcunt, or even try to sell it on here to another wanting member of the community for a fair price.
#17
I came across World Class Baseball and TV Sports Hockey for a buck a piece at a game store one, and that's about it.

Actually, I did see someone at a con selling a bunch of boxed games, but you'll never guess what prices he was charging :P

Quote from: Firebomber7 on 08/14/2012, 11:15 AMMaybe poor Bardoly got scared away. I don't think he actually meant bad by this, despite what prof thinks.
Maybe you should be stating "despite what others think AND said". I'm not the only one who felt disdain and vocalized it over this raffle, and I am not some fucking group spokesman to go directing blame on if he left, so don't try to use me as your soul target of blame on the matter, because I don't play patsy and I don't fucking play scape goat for anyone. If he left over this bs, whatever, he asked for it and he coulda corrected it IF he cared to, which he didn't obviously. I'm sure life will go on regardless of no one winning a free copy of Takin it to the Hoop after confessing their undying love of Texas and biting their tongue for a bit or wtf ever.

If anyone feels they wasted their time doing so and wants to bitch about it, whatever. Just because a dog rolls over doesn't mean he always gets a strip of bacon. Next time do yourself a favor and don't make a fool of yourself for a chance to win cheap games. Instead just suck it up and go buy them elsewhere, or wait for a raffle from someone who doesn't demand you do cheap pony tricks for their amusement.
I think that you are taking things WAY too seriously.  Not only you, but anyone who was seriously offended by this raffle.  Remember, its a video game forum, and he is giving something away for free, and jokingly added some stuff on the end for fun, not demanding someone from another country to denounce their citizenship with a gun to their head.  Chill.
#20
Also, people that are turning this raffle into some personal issue against Bardoly because of a few things I would assume he jokingly put into his raffle bonus entries are going a little overboard.  I seriously doubt he wanted to turn this into a "'Murrica vs everyone!" raffle, and seriously doubt he wanted to alienate some of the members from outside of the US.  He is still doing a good thing by raffling off two games, and I think that that should not be lost in the syntax.
#21
I'll join in on the Bonk raffle.  And yes, Texas is the greatest state, being that I was born and raised here lol.  I don't think that that truth should gain me a bonus entry though, so just the one for me please.  Thanks for the awesome raffle!

I have no affinity for the system itself since I never  had one as a kid, so I'll probably go the CMVS route as per you guys' suggestions.  Thanks for all the advice.  Now I just need to go on the Neo forums and hunt one down I guess.

Yeah my main desire was to play some of those classic arcade games I used to absolutely love in the arcades: Metal Slug, KOF, Samurai Shodown, Art of Fighting, etc.  And I was always under the impression MVS carts were pricier.  I guess I was off on that thought lol.  How much is the expected investment on the CMVS?

DuckTales 2 was less mint then orignially shown.  He accidentally showed me pics of his copy, not the double he was selling.  Darkwing Duck is pretty immaculate though.

I was just pausing the game (Alien Crush) and had played a pretty long time, about 6-7 hours devoted to it.  Then we had a big storm last weekend and the power went out...needless to say certain words were said in regards to that.

General Gaming / Neo-Geo AES questions
07/25/2012, 08:50 PM
I have been interested in getting an AES for about a year and a half now, hoping to run into one at a flea market or something .  Since that will seemingly never happen, I'm considering biting the bullet and just buying one.  However, I was wondering a few things.  Is the Neo-Geo AES Region Free?  Also, what is a good price to pay for one?  I was gonna use the next month to build up some funds to score one.
#41
I contacted a collector on Craigslist, and he sold me mint copies of DuckTales 2 CIB, Darkwing Duck (NES) CIB, Mega Man 1,4,5, and Fire 'n' Ice with manual for 250.  I thought that was a very good price, plus he was a really cool dude.  All the boxes/manuals are completely mint too.

I went with Failcon.  Turrible

We started talking shit because you wanted too much money, whether stupid people on your ebay listings realize it or not, then people came to the defense of, from what I can tell by my limited time here, a highly respected, highly likable forum member.  You clearly haven't realized this in the couple months you've been here, but in the couple weeks I have been here, this is a community.  And, while you are alienating yourself on the outskirts like a leper, others are happily enjoying it.  I hope I'm not stepping outside of my boundaries stating this...but even if I am I think it was something that would be said, if not by me, then by another forum member.
#45
I lol'd at the cornflake box shipping.  Why would he revive a thread like this that turned into a roast and proves a certain level of douchebaggery...just sell it on ebay if you want the ebay profits and be done with it.
#46
I'm still making a run at Alien Crush, it just takes so damn long.  There is a tendency to get bored of playing after like 2-3 hours straight.

Next up in my "my wife wants me to get rid of my excess stuff" sale spree that is underway is a TG-16 console.  It works great, never have had any problems with it reading games.  Comes with one controller, a TurboTap, the AC adapter, and the RF adapter.  I just got a Duo, so bye-bye to ol' reliable.  Like the TGCD I was selling yesterday, I would actually prefer a trade for some TG games to bolster my meager collection, but I am also willing to just sell at the right price.  I am looking for some shooters such as Fantasy Zone, R-Type, Galaga '90, Air Zonk, Gradius, or games like Bloody Wolf, Legendary Axe 1 or 2, and Neutopia 1 or 2.  Just shoot me an offer.

Thanks!

EDIT: I accidentally took the picture with my turbotap that is modded for a duo in the picture, but I do have another that works with the Turbo

I'll join in on this raffle.  Have the 32X system, but have never been able to find games at a flea market or anything of the sort.
#49
Ok, since I got my modded Duo-R today, I am selling of my old CD system, which I was hanging onto even though it doesn't work    It worked when I first got it, but stopped working shortly thereafter.  I don't know what the market is for this, but I am very willing to work out a trade, even if it is just for a game or two.  I don't have a very deep collection, so even a few common titles would be fine by me.  My old lady wants some of the surplus goods outta the house, so is there any interest in this? I will ship with a TG16 system that works fine on its own, The TGCD base with its AC adapter, AV Cables, and the CD unit itself.  Lemme know what you guys think is fair market value for an item like this.

EDIT: I forgot to mention that the system comes with a case, the hard plastic black one, although both the clips on it are broken.  I plan on posting pics tomorrow

I just got a Duo-R system from Keith Courage in the mail today.  Absolutely fantastic work, works perfect.  the man does some A+ work.
