2/13/2025: Localization News - Cosmic Fantasy 3-4!

Rather earth-shattering news in the PC Engine / TurboGrafx-16 community: Cosmic Fantasy 3 & 4 has been officially localized to English by Edia 30 years later for the Switch! Hard to believe! I know their script quality is poor given the 1&2 port but still good to see.

Quote from: guest on 10/01/2012, 05:18 PMI was mainly curious, because I have a friend who collects Bomberman. I'm trying to convince him to trade his Neutopia 2 for my extra Gate of Thunder CD.

Here is his current collection:

That's exactly what I'm doing, except with the ghouls n' ghosts series.

I fell in love with the design of the TurboDuo, and the ads on EGM for Lords of Thunder made me feel funny inside..

Not today because these came from a few separate auctions, but my birthday list came in. I was trying to get Demon's Crest but they're all too overpriced on ebay. Had to get the SFamicom version and hopefully I can get through the game without being able to read it.

If anyone has a copy of Demon's Crest they would sell for less than my liver or kidney, let me know ^_^

Edit: And yes, Fluttershy IS one of the presents :D

Always wanted one, but they're always too expensive when I find one.

What that person is doing... on the t-shirt picture.. I'd love to try that someday.

Back on topic, I wish some of the audio in games came through the headset. Like radio transmissions in Battlefield, or whenever Cortana talks to you in Halo campaign

Hagane, Demon's Blazon and R-Type III, for SuperFamicom.
My birthday present to myself this year.
Hard to find any Turbo stuff around here... :(

I didn't realize that they might be kinda hard to find now... I got mine years ago at gamestop.

Did any of you experts look into the screen in those VG Pocket games? I have one and the screen is absolutely gorgeous for such a cheap toy. And it looks to be the exact size.

I agree, only place I have around here that carries HU/CD has 5-6 games and are all priced based on ebay's highest prices. :(
Saw Splatterhouse there, which I want, for 39.99 w/o book.

Should've joined this site earlier.. I'm looking for a SG and Daimakaimura.. I would've popped you a paypal faster than you could  imagine :)

I'd love to make an offer but my HU card list consists of the most common and abundantly available titles :)

I still have a copy of SFII' waiting to be played. One day I'll end up getting either a PCE or make an adapter when I get the pin layout that needs to be changed.

I got a spare Duo in the closet in the same condition.. from TZD... :)

Hey guys, I've been eagerly waiting to be approved so I can come here and thank ALL of you who work so hard in helping the community to keep their consoles alive. I was one of those kids who wanted a Duo so bad when I was  in high school but just didn't have the cash.
Thanks to ebay a few years ago, I went like a hyped up kid in a candy store buying all the games I dreamed about.

My Duo has been faithful to me until a few days ago when it started flickering and the sound in Dracula x sounded like it was coming from a burger king drive-through order speaker. Thanks to the resources here, I found a suitable kit and replaced every cap in that bad boy. Now check out how healthy it looks!!

While I was waiting for my kit in the mail, I found a TE that I thought I could fix as well. Always wanted one but it they're all ridiculously priced, and there's the 99% chance that it will need work done anyway. So I got it and a kit the same day and went to work on it. Sound was restored but picture, not so much. Here's the finished board.

Like I said, sound came back, and so did the picture, just barely.
The picture was very dark, even though the back light turns on. And the brightness pot had no effect. It was like this for about 2 days. Today I got some fresh batteries and tried again after cleaning all contacts. The brightness started flickering and would stay on, then go away. I stayed normal for a bout an hour today and I played a few games. Then it just went back to its original dark self.

I was kinda disappointed especially after seeing some of you have TEs resurrected by simply replacing one cap. :(
I've checked the brightness pot, and I even tightened the pin, still nothing. Poor thing is on right now plugged in, trying to "cook" the caps to see if anything changes. I have no where else to try, so if any of you have any suggestions, PLEASE, I'm open. Meanwhile, I'll go play some lords of thunder!

Oh and yes, I am slightly OCD when it comes to soldering electronics. Everything needs to stand perfectly straight up, unless its impossible due to space. Initially I was going for OEM surface mount caps, but I couldn't find a "kit". ^_^
