12/23/2024: Localization News - Team Innocent

PC-FX Localization for Team Innocent is released, a pre-Christmas gift!! In a twist, it feels like the NEC PC-FX got more attention in 2024 than any other time I can remember! Caveat: The localizers consider the "v0.9" patch a BETA as it still faces technical hurdles to eventually subtitle the FMV scenes, but they consider it very much playable.

Coming from a country that never had the PCE/TG released, I never had much interest in them - that was until a few years ago....  For long time here in Japan (been here for about 10 years now) I have hoarded every console I ever dreamed of owning when they were released.  Honestly though, I never thought about the PCE as it wasn't something that I had any nostalgia for.  Blasphemy right?!  Then a friend recommended I try a few games out, and in a few short years the PCE/PC-FX is what I am collecting for more than anything else!  I can't stop buying!!!

I say don't do it!  Once you buy a few NEC machines and games, then the addiction really kicks in and you have no money for anything else.

Really nice collection!  Like you I'm trying for the whole set (of at least HuCards), but it's not easy to hunt them down.

Nothing quite like a DK!  My first G&W when I was a kid, and still my favourite G&W now.

Don't jump to conclusions just yet Frank.  He might make good with it - he sells enough that he should.  Good luck with it, and let us know how it goes.

Ignore the PM on AA I sent asking for more detail about the issue Frank.

I would definitely say caps if you're talking about a straight Duo, but as it's an R it's worth having the experts give some other options.  No matter what it is though, you definitely have grounds for a claim by your description of the problem.

Man, you have some bad luck though!  :(

Make some games with it, duh. :)
Easier said than done my friend - I still can't find the time to even stuff around with the Famicom Basic!  :D

Akihabara is great 'n' all for sheer volume, but it's definitely not the place to actually shop for retro console gear (unless you're looking for spare parts).  The best places are the hidden little shops outside of the big cities.  To give you an example, the first ever boxed and complete CoreGrafxII cost me about $7 - admittedly it's damn rare to see them that cheap, but the chance is always out there!  :)

Quote from: SuperDeadite on 09/25/2012, 11:18 PMDid a quick scroll down your blog.  The Micomsoft Analog pad does a lot more then you think :)
There's about 12 games across the MD/MCD/32X platform, but it also works with the 5 analog pce games (needs the XHE-3 adapter), and also about 30 games on the X68000 (the original purpose for that controller), and around 10 or so on FM Towns.
Nice!  I'm always looking for more info as it's damn near impossible to find out everything about the gear I pick up.  Thanks SuperDeadite!  I have added your info and credited you accordingly.  :)

Quote from: PunkCryborg on 09/25/2012, 10:24 PMYour link in your sig is bad but I found your site still. I'm glad I did because it's pretty awesome!
Thanks for the compliments Punkic.  I don't know what was going on there, but I just changed it to an open URL and it works now. :)

@Necro, thanks for the welcome.   :)

@Xelement, thanks for the kind comments.  Yeah, the wall of HuCards has grown since those pics - well not the wall, the amount of HuCards.   :D  I have pretty much run out of space, but it's a great way to have access to everything quick.  I do have cases for most of them as well in a cabinet, and that's run out of space too.  Wish places in Japan were bigger!

@Fraggore, yep, it's a serious addiction!   :D

Thanks for the welcome guys.  :)

@Frank, I had a few SGX games already, but no system until recently (as you know).  I have Daimakaimura, and Battle Ace so far.

@Bardoly, I will definitely consider making a few sales in the future, but the main reason I am here is to just hang out and dribble PCE goodness.

@Soop, I have spare Tennokoe, but I don't have spare AV Boosters - they don't come up all that often.  Still, I'd rather not focus on selling gear from the start - hope that's cool.

@Superdeadlite, would you believe I let a LaserActive system slip through my fingers for the equivalent of $10?!  Still kicking myself in the nuts over that one...

@PunkCryborg, if you follow the link in my signature to my blog you can see some pics of the gear in the 'What's SGUG section' and 'NEC' section.  Admittedly it needs an update as I have fair chunk more since those pics were taken, but it's a good start.  I think the next post I do for the blog will have to be PCE related, just to celebrate finding a forum that purely NEC!

Hi guys,

Great to see a forum dedicated to NEC related goodness!

Anyway, based on a recommendation I thought I'd give a quick intro - forum etiquette etc.

I live in Japan, and I've been collecting PCE for the past few years.  It's turned into an obsession to say the least....  So much so that I have started to sell off other gear to fund it.

Currently I have:

PCE (white) x3
Core Grafx  I x1
Core Grafx II x2
GT x1
Duo x1
DuoR x1
SuperGrafx x1
Shuttle x1
CDRom2 and interface unit set x2 (both with non-working CD drives damn it)
SuperCDRom2 x1
PC-FX x1
(no LT or Duo-RX.....  yet)

About 240 unique HuCards, and about 150 more doubles.
About 100 SuperCD/CD/Arcade disks - only really got into buying CDs recently
About 25 PC-FX titles
Only 2x SuperGrafx titles

In addition to the above I have a bunch of boxed controllers/sticks, AV booster, Tennokoe Banks, GT comm cable, memory expansions and a bunch of other stuff.  I am sure I have missed some stuff there too, but you get the picture.

Thanks to one of the members here I found this forum, but since being here I notice some familiar faces.  Looking forward to talking with more like-minded PCE heads!   :D

Quote from: Ji-L87 on 09/24/2012, 11:37 AMOh oh! I know you, welcome to this community! :)
Since you picked up that Duo-R a while back, you coming here was probably just a matter of time ;)
Hey Ji! I would have been here earlier if I'd known there was a dedicated PCE forum.  I am so damn addicted to collecting for the PCE!

Thanks for the welcome guys.  I will definitely post in the intro thread when I get a chance later.

Quote from: guest on 09/24/2012, 04:30 AMI have one like that (PC Engine All Catalog), but published in '93 - see the covers here: http://www.pcengine.co.uk/omake/omake.htm
Very nice!  I will take a few pics of the other PCE books I have when I get a chance, but this one (pictured above) is my favourite so far.

By the way, your site is great (PCE Bible)!  I have used it countless times when looking for new titles to buy.

Hi guys!

I'm the owner of that milky white hand turning the pages there (probably too much time indoors).  :D

I've been collecting PCE stuff pretty hard for the past few years, and I have just started to sell off a heap of other game related gear to fund the HuCard completion.  Happy to meet you all!
