How about the other Hue Card Games I own...
Obviously Galaga88 does not.
But I also has just recently purchased:
1. Time Cruise II
2. Alien Crush
3. R-Type
4. Salamander
5. Kyukyoku Tiger
And I am thinking of buying:
1. Saint Dragon
2. Lode Runner-Lost Labyrinth
3. Super Star Soldier
4. Devils Crush

Good point Kaminari...what would be the point of an adventure or RPG if you could not save your progress?
Now that would really be a shame if the Hue Card SHUMPS can't save the high scores some way...that is mainly why I purchased the PC Engine.
Oh well, I guess with a system that old you can't have everything...it's too bad.
At least you can save with the CD-based SHUMP games.

OK, another related question.
Do Hue Card games save at all???
For example, I played Galaga '88 and it let me input my name for a high score, but when I played something else and put the Hue Card back in, my name and high score were gone. Do Hue Cards "auto-erase" when you take them out of the system? And I did not see it on my PC Engine Internal save area either.
If this is in fact the case, is there a way to save data from progress or high scores with Hue Card games???
Thanks :D
#4
I wonder if there is a place or site that would list the HueCard Games that save to themselves and not the PC Engine interal memory???
That would be a nice list to have  8)
#5
I have a question that I don't know since I have a Japanese PC Engine and the games I get are in Japanese. Do games that come on a Hue Card save on the Hue Card or do they use the systems internal memory???
Thanks!
#6
Thanks for the info Michael..signing up there now  :D
#7
I figured you were joking Michael...but these days you never know...there probably is a way to bootleg them :)
Anyways, I want to buy the real deals for my real PC Engine...ones I can't get with covers, that's what I am looking for.
I like Magic Engine and all, but having the "real deal" is nice...
#8
It'scoming in the little plastic case
I guess I forgot to mention that ;p
#9
Actually I bought Alien Crush off EBay...Card only and I want to print the cover to put on a CD case...
And how would you bootleg a HueCard anyway? I would not want to :)
#10
Anyone know a good site where you can download and print game cover images for PC Engine Hue Card games?
Thanks!
#11
Keep 'em coming...some great ones for me to look for to play on my real PC Engine. BTW, I have played Toilet Kids on Magic Engine...very interesting :)
The beauty of having Magic Engine is I can check them out before buying what I really want for the "real deal". Which IMHO, I would much rather use. Being 50yrs old...I don't have to use glasses when playing on the TV vs the computer ;)
#12
I want to purchase some of the best SHUMPS for the system and would like some input if possible (I have a PC Engine (non-modded) so they have to be the Japanese Games)
Here is what I have:
Sapphire
Lords of Thunder
Gate of Thunder
Macross2036

Thanks!
#13
Thanks Tron....I shall print that info ;)
#14
Ask D-Lite about that...I bet he would know if you could put 2 into 1...or if there is a better way to manage save games :D
#15
Quote from: guestJust go visit my site and look up all the 5-star rated games :P

I am going to do that right now ;)
#16
I am gonna get the Hue Card from D-Lite..thanks for the info all!!!
#17
Thanks for all the input everyone! On a related note, can I play only play Hue Card Games on my PC Engine that were Japanese? I think without modding the PC Engine that those are the only ones I could play...
#18
Thanks for the info cybersalad...I wil look for one of those...
BTW, you forgot your link on the info on it ;)
#19
Ten No Koe???? What is that???? :?:
Is it something I can purchase to add more room for save games?
And on a similar note..how much room is there on the internal memory of the PC Engine for save games???
#20
I see a thread on worst rare PC Engine Games...what about the best ones? I have only had my PC Engine 2 months (from D-Lite-- THANKS!)
and would like to know what everyone's opinions are.
I do have
1. Dracula X
2. Sapphire
3. Beyond Shadowgate
What are some other "must-plays" ???
Thanks! :D
#21
Is there any way besides clearing off room on the internal memory to save games..mine is full  :(
I need a "mini" harddrive for my PC Engine :D
I don't want to delete stuff off there but I think that is my only choice...
#22
I got my system from D-Lite about a month ago and I absolutely love it!
Now meeting him would be quite a treat!!!
Don't think that will happen for me (I live in Indiana)
Anyway, this is one system I never bought and I am so glad I did!
Much better playing on a TV and not the Computer and Magic Engine!

(BTW..D-Lite-I sent an email to your site with several questions  :D )
#23
Thanks for the info Keranu...I had heard the US Turbo Duo CD Controller extension cable was different than the Japanese Pc Engine Duo-R cable because the controller were different. I guess that is not the case :)
If you say it will work...then great!
One other question:
Can you use this Controller on a PC Engine Duo-R or not?
wayback.midwest-games.com/necbranturgr.html

I don't think you can from what you stated...
I would like to get a brand new controller if possible too...if anyone knows a place or a link  :D
Thanks again!
#24
I have a Japanese PC Engine Duo-R
#25
Thanks JBSpeed ...Perfect!  :D
#26
Anyone know where I can get one of these???
That damn cord on the controller is sooo short  :(
I don't think you can use the extension cables for the US Version with a PC Engine..aren't they different? Just like the controllers are not interchangabe:
I don't think this will work:

wayback.midwest-games.com/turturduocon.html

Thanks! :D
#27
Anyone know a good site that lets you download color CD covers for PC Engine games???
Thanks!
#28
OK..this shall be my last post in this...
I am going with your recommendation of a Samsung since you said it is great for PC Engine games...which is what I want it for.
Thanks Michael...I will let you know how it works out :)
#29
I have a gig of DDR Ram....so this one will be ok then?
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16827151083
I am only going ot use it to burn PC Engine Duo-R games for use on the real system.
If so..I will buy it :D
#30
Faster is not what I want...just the ability to burn at 1X or 2X and PC Engine Games wiht no errors.
Let me know,
Thanks! :D
#31
I think you were posting when I was
Could you look at my last post Michael?
Thanks :D
#32
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16827151083
Michael...
Will that Samsung work?
Or can I have the model # of the one you use since it seems to burn Turbo CD games fine (even Cosmic Fantasy)
The Samsung sounds like a good idea...that one in the link or your model....
Thanks!
#33
I use Nero or Alcohol to burn...mainly Nero since Alcohol can abort sometimes due to misread.
Never have burned with CDRWIN but I have it as well as clone CD and Blindwrite...which is best for Turbo Duo games? And for a real Duo-R system, not Magic Engine. (Some of my burns work in Magic Engine but not on the Duo R)
If I could see a link to any of these burners you mentioned at NewEgg Michael...I would buy it.

Actually, lemme give you a couple and you can(or someone) let me know if they will work for what I need:

#34
Michael....could you give me a couple model#s? Esp the Samsung that will do the Cosmic Fantasy 2?
And maybe some Plextors that will burn at 2X....
Thanks!
#35
Lost that auction  :(
I guess I will try another....

Got a question tho, is there any burners you can buy now at NewEgg that will burn at 1X or 2X for Turbo CD games???
I have an account there and would just as well get it there over EBay...
Thanks!
#36
Thanks for the info SNKNostalgia...I am an Ebayer and have bought alot there...so time to BID :)

EDIT:
Here: http://cgi.ebay.com/TDK-VELOCD-Internal-CD-Burner-Rewritable-Drive_W0QQitemZ5244308035QQcategoryZ116242QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

This item...I asked the guy if it would work with XP...he said prob not.
That true? He also said it will burn at minimum 2X...
Is this the best Cd Writer to get for burning Duo games???
Thanks
#37
I would get that TDK Velo Writer if I could find it :)
I can't find one anywhere....
Got a link of one being sold anywhere???

A friend of mine has an old Memorex he can give me that will burn at 1x...those any good?
I used to have a Memorex Cd Reader and it was crap...errors all the time...
He also may have a Plextor...but he is not sure and not sure on the speeds either.
No whe laso has my old HP writer...but if it won't do the overburn, SAO, or burn proof, that won't work either.
#39
Anyone know a good 1X CD Writer to buy and where?
This will ensure no burn problems since my DVD Burners only go minimum 8X  :(
Thanks!
#40
That would be great m1savage...Let me know ;)

I guess I better see what others I might want that I didn't list 8)
#41
Worked great ....thanks m1savage ;)
#42
Thanks alot CrackTiger :D
If anyone knows a site (or a way to put them up) where there are manuals for Duo games...would be much appreciated.
Aka...Dracula X, Sapphire, YsIV, and Xak III.
Got alot of other games too 8)
#43
Thanks a TON m1savage!!! :D
#44
You know CrackTiger...that could be it. I did not get a game manual OR a System Manual so I am just guessing when it comes to saving the game. I know I bring up the screen with the load/save options...but I am really not sure which buttons on the Duo Controller save or load...you know for sure?
I know other games save fine..so the memory is ok in the system...but then again, I am guessing on saving with them as well (no manuals).
Is there a place anywhere on the 'net you can download maunals to the PC Engine Games, or a manual for the System itself? That would probably solve alot of problems...
#45
I had already did that too stevek666...it must be game specific ;)
Thanks tho...I will examine that thread too :)
#46
Thanks CrackTiger...I don't know if you can save anywhere as I tried that and it looks like it only takes after you have progressed a certain amount in the game.
And I know my Duo is OK for saving as other games save fine 8)
#47
Thanks alot Keranu...I shall try it tonite after going to this $#@! Wedding ;)

Ok, I tried again before I left to the Wedding:
Here is the error I am getting...
ERROR:
START DAO RECORDING command failed on decive 1:1:0
cuesheet was rejected by the CDROM recorder.

Now I know the cuesheet is good as I made it with the cue maker for PCEngine cues...here it is:

Can anyone tell me how to get games to burn at 2x? What program and how? I had Beyond Shadowgate and it "hangs" in the game...I am assuming because it was burned at 8X...which is the lowest I can get burn speed-wise with Alcohol or Nero. CDRWIN only made an audio CD for me, but then again, that was the 1st time I used it. Could it be settings? Also, the lowest speed I could get for it was 4X.
I know the game is fine because it plays fine on Magic Engine...but I want to play it on my new PC Engine Duo-R I got yesterday...
Any help appreciated...
Thanks!

Hi! 1st time poster and will be here ALOT as I just received my NEC PC Engine Duo-R in the mail :D
I have been using Magic Engine and could not pass up getting this system I never had. (Being a 50yr old gamer...I cannot believe I never bought this system-I have almost all of the old systems)
Anyway, does anyone know how you save in Beyond Shadowgate on the real deal? I know the save states in Magic Engine...but I have asked 2 people familiar with the console and neither know...
Thanks! 8)
