Localization Legend "Supper the Subtitler" has "joined the club" in being targeted for CD-pressings by bootleg master Tobias/PCEWorks! His projects like Private Eyedol, Galaxy Fräulein Yuna 1 & 2, etc. are now being sold on Chinese factory-pressed CDROMs...

The US release of this game is the only one I'm missing from my Wonder Boy library. I do have the Japanese one and the Tobias bootleg so at least I'm able to play it. It just sucks that a real copy is so hard to find.

I've been into games long enough that I just can't bring myself to spend a lot on them. These prices usually aren't based on anything more than what the last asshole paid for them and, since no official body is keeping track, it's all skewed and often incorrect eBay/Amazon data.

I don't know if I'll ever be able to justify spending over 1k on a single game. I guess it wasn't too long ago that I broke my over $100 rule, but 10x that amount seems way too far to go.

I've made my peace that I'll never own every game ever made and already own more than I can play in a lifetime. If I can't get a deal on it, I don't want it. :)

You can crouch by holding down on the dpad, and should be able to do little forward hops by tapping forward while holding down. Maybe I missed something but I couldn't do it to save my life on the TGCD version.

The clock timer seems to run a little fast, too. I usually keep my mistakes and still make it but I had to load the last level over to make it in under the hour.

I went back to Bloody Wolf to finish it up. The level after Mzo was captured and I switched to Mzo2 took me forever to clear. I was coming up on the end and my fiancee made me turn it off to go to bed. :(

Some things never change.

The controls are pretty good but the bunny hop is broken, which sucks in a couple of places. Combat feels super slow at the default settings. It's not a bad version of PoP at all, but my favorite console versions are still the Sega CD and SNES ones.

Just wanted to give the OP a heads up and mention that R-Type II is just the second half of the first R-Type game because it came split into two on the PCE but was later joined together into the one game it should be for the US release and the CD version.

Maybe you already knew that, but it is a little confusing since there is a for reals R-Type II.  Just not on PCE/Turbo.

Toilet Kids makes me think of Liquid Kids, which is the shit.  No pun intended.

Came here to say I liked Wonder Momo.  Glad it's been covered by others already =D

Already have this one, but good luck to everyone else!

It looks a little wonky but is still fun to play and has those badass PC Engine CD cutscenes.

Got my games in the mail.  They look great, thanks again!

Secret Game Freak game that no one talks about.

I'm hoping it's a shill bid.

Great episode, as always.

Super happy they showed Cocoron.  Takeru was formed by ex-Capcom employees (the Strider arcade guy and Akira Kitamura, the real guy behind Mega Man 1 and 2) and it really shows in the gameplay and design.  Their next game would be Little Samson, which is also excellent but bullshit expensive these days.

I have a wedding to attend at the same time this year.

Fart.

It's kind of a long trip but I had a great time last year =[

I quite like Jaws.  Way too short, yeah, but still fun.  It was a ripoff back then but just right at whatever it's worth now.  A dollar CIB?

glazball's review makes me sad.

Just another insta-collector who doesn't even enjoy the actual hobby itself.

I have a Wii U and Mario Maker!  It's a great little system =[

I haven't had the time to sit down and make anything I'm proud of, but soon!

He talks a lot about his Writing and Acting, capital letters implied.  If he was humble about it and it was the best he could do, I'd be cool with it.  It's the way he's cocky about something terrible that makes me think less of him.

He does come off as exactly the kind of guy you're describing, Joe.  That sucks =/

Pat's a horrible actor and I really dislike his skits and hackneyed writing.  I feel embarrassed for him when I watch them and, if someone were to walk into the room while I was doing so, I would probably die of embarrassment myself.

I enjoyed his flea market madness videos until he changed his reaction faces to go out of their way to show his flexed bicep somehow.  They're still ok, though.

I listen to the Completely Unnecessary Podcast because I really like Ian.  They're wrong about a bunch of stuff but it's ok.  In the last one I listened to someone wrote in asking their opinion on Rare Replay fixing the Battletoads glitch and Ian had it in his head it was running out of lives for one player leading to a continue and level restart in a two player game, which isn't a glitch at all.  Weird they wouldn't have ever heard of the glitch that disables the second player's controls during the Clinger Winger stage, but sure!

I assume he's popular because he's been around forever and not because he's particularly talented or charming in any way.

It's absolutely disgusting and I don't know how anyone can stand to look at that stretched out garbage.

Instant turn-off on gaming videos.

Looks great! :3

I got Mega Race as a free pack-in with my Packard Bell PC (worst mistake ever buying that thing, btw.)

I can still hear that announcer when I close my eyes.
#25
Gonna rub my mouse all over that thing.  Make my cursor go where I want.
#27
I think I have all the Vita LEs that have come out so far =X  It's one of my favorite systems.

I imported the physical version of Sayonara Umihara Kawase.  It came with a little ramen lid holder Umi and a mousepad from AmiAmi!

The Operation Abyss LE just came in today and it's flippin massive.  What am I going to do with this thing?
#28
Well, it's staged.  They exaggerate their reactions and probably don't get any quiet time to put in some serious attempts.  They want them to mess up because it's funnier than teaching someone how to actually play a game.

It's not the game and it might not even be kids today.  It's just the video.  I would recommend not watching reaction videos.
#29
Yeah, that's really unacceptable.
#30
If there's any that won't pay I'd be happy to pick up the slack on one =]
#31
The NES one is a bit more worse than just slightly.
#32
Yep, he fixed up my Duo along with region and s-video mods and I couldn't be happier.  I always try to send dudes his way when they have trouble.
#33
I far prefer a CRT or a PVM to the XRGB.  I like the softer look that games have on them, even through RGB.  The most convenient solution I've found is a CRT using an RGB to component box.

Plus, lightgun games!
#34
Hudson Soft made the first Adventure Island's difficulty scale to the point where it just wasn't fun anymore.  I don't know why they found a need to multiply the number of enemies like the octopi so significantly.  Wonder Boy is a blast from beginning to end while Adventure Island near the end makes me want to piss razor blades out of my dick.  Still managed to beat it in one afternoon last time I played it but it wasn't really fun by the end, and I'm not looking forward to doing it again.
#35
NAI has so much more personality and plays better all around.

SAI is one of those early SNES games that are all show with giant sprites but play super slow and have very few levels.

No contest in my mind; New Adventure Island is easily the better game.

Quote from: CGQuarterly on 05/27/2015, 12:22 PMGod damn.  I'm having second thoughts about posting my upcoming Turbografx episode here on the forums.
Don't worry about that.  You can't make everyone happy all the time.  Just make something that you'd like to watch.  Don't shut out constructive criticism, but learn to ignore things that may be just a difference of opinion.  If they want something different from what you're making, they can go make it themselves.
#37
Awesome!  You don't see Otocky come up very often.  Such an interesting game for the time.

Found Final Zone II and Last Alert locally.  Super excited for that voice acting.
#38
They would've changed all the sprites and called it something crazy.
#39
Took a chance on buying this game from a Goodwill on Amazon for $7 three years ago.  The description said new, but I didn't really believe it.

It was new.

I broke that seal and played it.  It's not that good!  Gotta put in more time and power through to the end since I love Hudson Soft and it's obviously Wonder Boy inspired.

Quote from: DragonmasterDan on 05/26/2015, 06:52 PMHeck, I even like it more than "New Adventure Island."
Holy shit, this is crazy to me.
#40
I really liked the video!  Dude's shirt is loud as fuck.
#41
The presentation was better in Revenge but the controls and especially the boss fights weren't as good for me.
#42
By some miracle, Bob Mackey actually played a game that they're talking about that isn't a majorly popular game on a Nintendo platform.  Praise be.

I strongly disagree with their opinion of the original Bonk.  I think the first game is the best in the series.
#43
They've already replied that there will be one SKU per item in their system.  One price regardless of condition and no way to tell what you're getting through online-only storefront.

Worst fears confirmed.  At least the employees will get to profit by taking the boxes and manuals and selling them on eBay?
#44
They said they'd only be selling these games online, and I can almost guarantee there won't be detailed pics and it'll be a crap shoot to see what you actually will receive.

The worst part that I don't see enough people complaining about is that GS never prices on condition.  These games will have a baseline price cart only or complete, in great shape or beat to hell.

Even worse, they've shown they're not above throwing cases and manuals into the trash to normalize their stock across the board.

Quote from: Joe Redifer on 04/12/2015, 01:51 AMIan is a manager at one of the Luna Games stores in San Diego. People generally find him more interesting than Pat and I think that's why his podcast has any degree of success.
I've listened to those podcasts from time to time and it's definitely 99% because of Ian.

The only other person I respect (outside of Game Sack, of course) in that entire group is Roo.  Wish he made more videos =[

I never want to hear about Super Metroid from anyone else ever again. It's like listening to a song from Nirvana's Nevermind.  I know it's good, but I can't anymore.

That aside, great video.

I actually found a few Turbo games at PAX East, but the prices were gross.  A 4-in-1 for $100, Lords of Thunder and Dragon Slayer for $150 each... bleah.
#48
All 3 M2-developed ReBirth games were really, really good!

They were like long-lost 32 bit games...
#49
Always great to see stuff like this.  Galam is a good dude.

Maybe I'll be ready for the next one =X

SideArms is a pretty good game.  I'm down for this, enter me pls.
